Li Mei in Deception - A total improvement

Okay, here is my opinion.
Deadly Alliance's Li Mei:
She was cool, but her first outfit sucked. She had two okay fighting styles, and her sais were not original to her because Mileena used them in every Mortal Kombat game she has been part of. She had a lot of special moves that were original to her, that were effective and visually cool-looking. She wasn't a ninja like 75% of the MK girls; she was a student and a slave under Shang Tsung's rule.
Deception's Li Mei:
She is visually attractive in both of her outfits, especially in her bandana outfit. She is so sexy I can't wait to play as her ! She still has her two okay fighting styles, and they gave her her first weapon: the melon. This weapon is powerful... but unusual for a girl; heavy and massive. I think it's awesome to have a girl like that in Mortal Kombat: a slave who managed to beat everyone. She has made herself a name among MK's Classic characters in my opinion.
I didn't liked her that much; she was okay. Now she's in my Top Five !!!

It's Tanya all over again.
Edit: What's so strange about a woman using the melon as a weapon. Diao Chan from the Dynasty Warriors games uses them and she's what one would call petite.

And I bet her fighting styles were improved a lot!!

One of the things I liked about Li Mei is that she has a lot of special moves! They were very useful! grin

She's rendered better now, I'll give her that. I'm giving her a second chance, but she still has a long way to go before she completely redeems herself in my eyes.

did they swap her main and alternate costumes around?, cause although this costume has been seen in screenshots and stuff, its strange of them to have her first render in her alternate costume??

Good... but in the last videos, we can see Havik with the Morning Star (Spiked Melon used by Li Mei in E32004, and Li Mei with a sword fighting against Tanya in the Golden Desert Stage.

Li Mei was always one of my favorite fighters in DA. I actually liked her primary costume, and even her Sai got the job done when needed.
All she really got was a new weapon and a new costume. But it looks oh so good....wink

Agreed! I'm a little confused about her weapon, though: I always thought "melon" referred to them little maraca-like hammer things. I'm gonna play as her a hell of a lot more now - that bandana looks fantastic! I'm gonna try it!

her bio is AWESOME!!! like someone said (i think its Greenroom, im not sure) that she might be the missing link to the story

In the looks department yes. As for gameplay. Her special moves and styles were pretty good. She'll be a great character in MKD.

Li mei was always my Fav in MK:DA from the first time i played her, she is great, and im proper chuffed that Li mei, Tanya, Jade, Mineena and Sindel are all in one game!

What videos were these? Li Mei with a sword? I like that way better than a melon. *crosses fingers*
EDIT: Staying on topic, Li Mei is both cool and a good fighter. I've always thought so.

I always liked Li Mei, but thanks to deception, she is one of my top characters!!!
MKDA:
She did HAVE an ORIGINAL outfit. The primary costume she used was pretty good, I liked it. First I thought it didn’t fit MK, but after playing with her, I discovered she was amazing.
Her second outfit though, was just too plain simple.
She had good fighting styles, excellent moves (Sonya’s Mk4 cartwheel I think but that’s Ok) and a decent story.
On the bad side, she had the Sais, and a bad fatality.
MKD:
So far, everything about her rocks. Both of her costumes are original and very good looking, specially the armor one.
Her bio makes her more interesting and she seems to have one very cool fatality. Li Mei, so far, looks amazing.
It was the BEST idea ever to add her in this game ALONG side Mileena, so people will finally see that she was no clone.
Li Mei was always original, but people didn’t give her the chance she disserved.

It's possible because they did the same to Kitana in MK:DA. WE all thought that her primary costume was unmasked. However, when the game was released, it was the opposite. It even says so in the krypt. When you unlock her second outfit, it's like, "Oh, well yeah... um.. this was originally her primary costume."

Since the E3 2004 videos there has been much progress and fighting styles along with weapons have been swapped around between characters and this is the reason that two characters might have had the same weapon. I'm pretty sure the Morning Star is Li Mei's but if not it might even be a Stage Weapon.

If Li Mei's new costume was red insterad of purple and she had the Sais again.. she would look a lot like Elektra from the Daredevil comics, in my opinion.
She looks very good this time and they've given her an actual place in the storyline. Bravo. :]
