It's fine that he's dead but if he was to return he'll look even cooler cause he's returned from the dead. I've always liked liu kang ever since the original MK cause he was bruce lee, he looked even cooler in MK 2. Back then nobody had a problem with him, it was the MK movies that destroyed his character making him look like a plonker!
Liu kang has always been the champion of mortal kombat, that's probably why people started hating him. But then again people love to do that, they love to create the popularity of a person, but once they become too popular they want to destroy them. Take michael jackson for instance...what the hell am I talking about?

I hate Liu Kang and am very happy that he is gone. Besides Kung Lao is much better.

because to me, he is the best mk character. i like his look. i was never annoyed by his sound. his moves are cool. and he is the champ. geez, it took two guys to beat him. same goes with good ol scorpion. he is just cool. i like that they killed him for story purposes, but he's my fav. and i want hi back, with a new tight look. i don't mind someone else winning he tournament, but i want him in the game. besides he only won two touranments. everybody has there major part in the story. liu was to be champ. just as scorp was to get revenge and subby fight the evils of quan chi or to assisnate someone. to me, liu fits his part perfectly. now that his gone, i love to see kung lao take champ for awhile or so, but i do hope liu comes back, not for champion but get shang and quan chi back.

Edit: Anyway, besides that I got kind of used to him. He always just seemed to belong there or something. I agree with not making him the champion any more. He was pretty handy if you were trying to follow the story line though.br>
I think he should come back but be changed. maybe he could be more like Kung Lao or something. I don't know exactly how he could be changed to make him better, but I think that it's possible and that Liu is worth keeping. At least because he's been in the game since MK 1 if for no other reason. We all saw what happened when Scorpion was left out, since people loved him since MK1. I think that character-wise, the two aren't really comparable but the effect that a veteran character leaving is still the same. Kano is gone, and I think that also effects how the game feels.

I think that as long as the MK1 fighters are around, regardless of how significant they are, helps that game to feel more like that MK that we all grew up with instead of some revamped fighter that's simply hanging on by a thread in the competition against a sea of other fighters.

I'm not saying that Liu Kang by himself will save the game beyond a shadow of a doubt, but I believe that the old school feel will.

Well, that shows that you don't know the MK5.org community at all (or the entire MK community, at that). Most people HATE Liu Kang.

I personally like him, because I liked his Special Moves. And even now that Shang Tsung has a similar move to his Standing Fireball, Liu Kang's is still cooler, with that dragonny feel to it. Also, Liu Kang's Flying Kick beats the hell of Kung Lao's Whirlwind Kick. Also, his Fatalities (except the MK Arcade one) were awesome, IMO.

I would like him back, but only if they would make him evil/ remove his title (the Liu Kang always saving Earthrealm routine was getting kind of boring). He died, so he shouldn't be the MK Champion anymore. But I do want him back.

I love him because he's Asian.
Really though, I have always liked him and I think they could have changed everyone's mind about him if they put him in Deadly Alliance and worked on him a bit, but really I'm not upset that he's gone because the game still rules and theres always a chance of him returning somehow.

I think they hate him because he's always been the champion of mortal kombat. And their just simpley tired of him. I think people will become bored of winners if they keep winning all the time. I'm not sure if killing him was a great idea, but if kung lau was to be the new champ, that'll be cool! I would like to see Liu return, cause I really liked using him. But I have a feeling he will cause johnny came back from the dead. These types of characters never die.

in a way its good that liu is dead because now boon has to be more creative...i mean everytime...kang wins the tournament, kang wins the tournament. But i shouldnt say that until mk6 because now it might be, kung lao wins the tournament kung lao wins the tournament. actually liu was an ok rounded character, he didnt bit off other peoples moves, his fatals were ok but personally i didnt pick him. Im more of a ninja guy. i got hooked with scorpion and sub since part one. i only say keep kang dead to be more creative with the story line. I mean sub-zero is good now...why not have him be the champion..or what would happen if a neutral would win the tournament, neither earth nor outworld would win so would that start a 3 way battle between realms???there are a lot of possibilities think about it. Earth outworld and warriors lost from the ninja spectra fighting if Scorpion was champion or Earth Outworld and the Vampire realm fighting if Nitara won the tournament..creativity is endless, dont drag a career on one character that gets old. im not a hater because i have to admit liu was a good character but if he gets old he gets old...i think that scorpion was a more favorable character than liu i mean him and sub are still in it and no one is tired of them.

I believe people hated him for 2 main reasons:
- the shouting (on that mark, he was the most anoying of all the MK characters);
- the repetition of the "Liu Kang Saves The World" routine. That was the main reason why they killed him, after all, to have a new main story, and not an obvious main character. Every one chooses their favorite in this game (in pretty much the same way as everyone chose their favorite in MK1, since no one knew yet Liu was supposed to win that one).

he's like stryker, one must have a taste for the unusal. he's popuer with the un-popuer, the hero of losers, (i'm a loser too.) the candy of nerds, super-heros to the un-liked and chapions of the trekies. so, gamers, say want you will. i, as well as the rest of the nerds, like what we like and that's all that we like.

liu kang will always be cool to me. great simple fighter look and cool moves. they could tone his scream some (i.e. making a loud scream when hit). but n-e-ways i hope comes back soon, he could be a secret character that has no purpose for the story.
