Liu Kng will die.... heres my theory :

Liu Kang will fail to beat the DK but Shujinko
will defeat him... So once Liu Kang realizes he
is no longer needed He asks Shujinko to finish him off.... Shujinko cuts off Liu's head...
Raiden makes sure that liu kangs soul is put to rest..after they burn his body..the ashes are given to Kitana.... Kitana has a memorial built in honor of Liu Kang... With a statue of him in the front and inside is Liu Kangs ashes.. and ingraved in the vase : Liu Knag defender of earth a great friend and a great warrior..rest in piece

I'd luv that, but he wont die. There are maybe 12 or so fans of Liu Kang that want him back for at least 2 games.

I don't think that is going to happen. I think Liu Kang will help fight in the last battle and he will be the one who kills Shang Tsung while the others are fighting Onaga.

If Earthrealm wins Liu Kang decides that Earthrealm has more than enough people to protect it so he decides that he is no longer needed. Liu Kang bids farewell to all of his friends and the last person he talks to is Kung Lao.

Liu Kang knows that with his absence there he will be the last desendant of the original Kung Lao. Liu Kang would tell Kung Lao to live up to his name and he will give Kung Lao the title of champion of Mortal Kombat. With that Liu Kang departs to the heavens with Raiden where his soul will finally rest.
