i feel opposite of you. i find his 1st outfit to be bland and uninspired. however, his 2nd look is more akin to old martial arts films and seperates him from the "morpheus clone" look from the matrix. either way darrius holds very little interest for me in his story or fighting abilities. thankfully there are many other fighters that do interest me so it is no biggie.

The_Truth,i can understand you on that one,but the fact that they are doing it ala mk style makes a nice diff to me.

Just dont play his alt. ppl. Its not extremely bad and if it makes u look like your in a Bruce Lee movie then make sure you treat it like one. Let Darrius get his ass kicked. Its usually like that against the Darrius looking character in all of Bruce Lee's movies.

I love his main outfit but wtf were they thinking for is alt?Hopefully MK will drop the stupid sterotype for MK7,first Jax and now this.I'm black btw and don't like the look they are giving some of the black characters.That is no doubt the worst alt of any character in mk ever.

I've got no problem with the character's look, but the pants...oye. Those are the... umm... orangest (?) pants I've ever seen. I definitely have no problem with MK paying tribute to Enter the Dragon and other 70's kung fu flicks. After all, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and several other MK characters were made from 70's kung fu character concepts. Just put some pants on the guy that don't make him look so silly.

I think you missed the point of it.He has nothing to do with the seventies.The alt is just a type of Jim Kelly tribute,just a thing they wanted to put in there.Just like asking what does a witch or santa claus have to do with mk when you would see them flying over the moon in mk1

They should have lost the afro,the guy is bald keep it that way.If they kept his main look and removed his shirt and armor I thought it would have looked much better.No need to give him a wig...or maybe he joined The Hair Club for Men.

I have no problem with Jim Kelly I thought he was cool as hell in Enter the Dragon.But if they wanted him to look like that his main outfit should have look some what like Kelly as well.The look is just to far out of left field,much like Jax alt in DA.

IMO, the worst thing about Darrius isn't his utterly GHASTLY alt. outfit that I swear to all that is holy I will NEVER use. It's the fact that he shares a Fatality with Scorpion. That is, unless they've changed something and given Scorpion a new one.
I hadn't seen a repeated Fatality until tonight, and I was hoping not to have to in this game, besides Bo Rai Cho and BOTH of his burning you to death. But that's okay, since Bo Rai Cho's officially banned from my home, and anyone that uses him can never be my friend.

And just like that, Darrius lost a lot of credibility inmy eyes. However, he is still a good character. He can't be any where near as bad as Jax. This is just a costume I don't like. His other outfit and his story are badass!
So overall, he's still cool! I think this costume is forgiveable, although it does look so out of place.

If someone has a bigger pic of his outfit. I'll add it to my costume thread just pm me a link. It will be greatly appreciated.

On the contrary, I've been wanting this for a while: More regular martial arts outfits in MK. Which is probably why I like Kobra so much...

Kinda reminds me of the Undercover Brother. SOLID!!! Seriously though, I reckon it looks kinda cool. Image means nothing when you're kicking as much ass. Looking forward to using him.

Jim Kelly is his name.Obviously all you people saying it is horrible do not know what the hell the tribute costume is to or for.All you know is "Who are you gonna use first" and "who looks sexier,Jade or Mileena".The fact that they took the Black belt Jones look and added it to a character in Mk,i think is outstanding and letting us know where they got their initial ideas from.There is nothing stereotypical about it.I never realized that having a afro is sterotypical.That's like saying "your hair is straight" is being stereotypical.Think about what you type before you type it.Some people will hate it,others will love it.Isn't that the story behind every Mk character in the first place?Get the point!

I think he looks like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's character Hakim in Bruce Lee's "Game of Death"....I like it, it's different.
