Longer fatalities?
Hey all,
Just a thought....everyone seems to really dig Sub's fatality (what we've seen of it so far, anyway)....and i believe it is due in part to the length of time it takes this fatality to end...ever since MKII raised the kombat bar oh so many years ago, i had always wished they would make the fatality sequence last a little longer....and it seems to me they are heading in that direction......IMHO, a fatality that was 10-15 seconds long would be that much more satisfying!....just think of the possibilities!....it would also be a lot easier to keep each person's fatality unique and make sure they feel "personalized"....for example, just because both Scorp and Sub's fatality ends with your head coming off doesn't mean there's not a million ways to get there! (if you catch my drift!)....granted, this is just a cheesy example off the top of my head, but, im sure you all get my point....just think of what you could do with 13 seconds to kill at the end of the match(please forgive the obnoxiously horrible pun)....Scorps MKD fatal is another example of Boon and co. making that "i kicked your sorry ass" feeling last for just a few more moments.....i understand the MK franchise has had more to offer its fans than JUST bloody fatalities (GREAT storyline, unique characters, plot connectivity, fun factor, etc......)....but, if you add a 10-15 second, user-controlled death sequence at the end of a match and couple that with a innovative fighting engine (that seems to be moving right along and will only be getting better with time) and you will have the ultimate fighter (MK7, anyone?)....your thoughts?

I agree with you 100% and yes they need to focus on the fatality more because think about it how did mortal kombat different itself from other fighting game Fatality's. Picture MK with out no fatality it would had been forgetten. People like MK because of it's fatality not the fighting part, it ton's of fighting games out there that would damage MK and buried it alive.
well,
don't get me wrong....as i stated above, fatalities aren't the only thing that keeps me coming back to this franchise again and again....the solid storyline, the interesting characters, alliances, arenas, and with MK:DA, the different fighting styles all contribute heavily to my MK addiction....
to me, fatalities are just the tasty frosting on the mother of all cakes....

well if they did do longer fatalitys.. then they have to revert back to just 1 fatality.. since it takes alot of time and space.. so what would the people want.. probley more fatals.. so this unless they did this with new technology.. i don't see it happining any time soon..

I doubt that by MK7 they should have enough tecnology to have that jkinda space. Hell maybe they'll have the PS3 out I doubt it because Ps2 was announced to come out 2 years after PS1 but they held off like 5 years which is good so they can add the best features in it. But if they do have it out they should have so much room to make it possible for MK7 and so real to they say by 2012 Games will look and feel real.(WHo Knows)

I always would have like the fatalities to look like the GF/summoning parts in the Final Fantasy Series... those where nice and long and everytime you saw them it was like "WOW!!!".. ya know?

I don't think longer fatalities will take up that much more space on a disk. It's a real-time rendering, so the backgrounds, fighters and all are allready on the disc, the fatalities are just codes that say, "take that part and that one and do this with it and then show this part". So it just added code. And maybe a timer to let it all go a little slower. I THINK that is how they do it.

Plain and simple the fatality length should be the length of Mortal Kombat 2 the only mk game that kick ass. It seem that the develop team don't give a rat ass after MK2. Three was good in till the humor fatalities started like Liu kang arcade drop and no Scorpion. I can go on and on...... What next other character stealing other fatalities oh it all ready happen.
