Not only that, but there will be news on MK8 when the quarterly report hits. That is my opinion at least. Oh and BTW, is there any way to play MK3 or UMK3 onlin with my PS3? I know UMK3 is big on X-box live, but I was wondering if there was a way?

Sounds like you want Ed's head chopped off or something. Your analysis makes no sense though. PS3 and 360 have both shipped combine of over 25million consoles. PS3 alone has now sold just over 10m. So the whole PS3 is selling badly is even more of a myth now that Blu ray has become the new standard.

My point is, your this.. I think you're over projecting without taking into full considerations all the variables involved. Besides, no one really knows what MK8 is going to be like and until that happens you can't say it won't sell just for the sake of it.

the amount of ps3s out there isnt even close to the amont of ps2s... ps2 was there main chunk of sales, 3 to 1 over xbox. thats where they will take the hit. iif mkd and mka sold poorly on xbox, why would the sales triple on 360. its still going to be mortal kombat.

You can't base your argument on the fact that it's still MK. What exactly are you projecting anyway? That a game they haven't even made yet is going to suck? That's a very pessimist view to have on something that hasn't even happen though. MK8 will be using a new engine. YOU and I will be buying that game regardless of how shit it is. Now, if it really rocks and they manage to pull things together by fully utilizing unreal engine, then who's to say my neighbour won't get be getting one?

fact is 360 will not top 300,000 sales.

wii the most sold system in the last 2 yrs will not support mk8.

midway shipped 1million mkd copies, they didnt sell 1 million.

they didnt even break 500,000 in sales in mka, and it showed on the servers by the amount of players cut more than half than mkd had.

ill estimate mk8 wont sell more than 400,000 copies both systems worlwide.

also i want to add, if they want to try and make it a big hit. delay the release by 6months, or i should say 6 months after street figther 4. cause honestly sf4 is going blow mk8 out of the water, just from the polished gameplay.

midway should release a demo and get feedback, this way they would have a full yr to tweek it with a delayed release. if they release it near the release of sf4 and sc4, they are going to lose out big time.

You drafting of SF4 and SC4 makes it better argument on the timing of the release. Also, the demo idea is a good. If they are really confident about the product then they should definitely take that path but I doubt that's going to happen because they're probably targeting Oct release.

I'll still wait to see the first trailer though.

On sales.... What do you base your sales figure on? People you find on the server? I don't think you can use that as an accurate measurement of what really happened considering there are people out there who don't ever play online and multiple servers around the world.

oct/nov release is deff.. they need the xmas sales.. that cant be like nintendo and relase a game mid march and make a killing.

actually u can go by the severs less people emans less sales.. did u play on ntsc on xbox at release of mkd?? the first week of mkd the ranks reached the 20,000 mark. in mka after the first month the ranks never got lower than 5,0000.. mka than went to the reset, so we never got the fell of the lower ranks, but u can tell by the amount of players when u opti matched, the sales were bad, i never had more than 5 peopl to choose from, where mkd had like 30.

plus the fact they cut the price after 2 months of release. they are in a bad spot at the release of this game, and that even before we no what the product is, im going by

the fact that ps3 sales will not replace ps2 sales - It has nothing to do with PS3 sales figure. Heck, some people bought XBOX 360 because of HALO 3. So if the game is good enough or if they can generate enough hype, it'd sell itself but I have to admit I don't know if MK can be that good to just sell itself.
xbox360 should sell the same as xbox did for mkd - MKD came out a long time ago.. going 4years now. You can't use that to accurately project what would happen today because new gamers would have joined as much as old timers signing out.

MK8 might not go to wii (graphical reasons obviously) but will have some MK games regardless, Midway has said this and hinted at it.

Although this is anticipated given Midway's been quiet since MKA and UMK3 DS for the most part and don't deny Midway's total drops(for now anyway)

I noticed you said in one of your posts Red that Midway sales won't help on Sony fans behalf, that's not Midway's fault lol that's Sony's idiotic move for pricing their console at a ridiculous price to begin with....I mean what console has had 2 pricedrops in a years debut and 3 prices all together? None, except the PS3....gotta love Sony on that one.

With less PS3 owners=means less people to by MK games for PS3 all together or any games in general, unless they buy a 360 and wii which Sony fans won't do.

Ha! I doubt PS3 owners would buy MK8 before SF 4, SC 4, or Tekken 6. Games that will probably destroy it. I honestly am not having high hopes for MK8 cuz in the end Boon will manage to dissappoint us all like he did with the last two installments.

Did he disappoint you with MKDA? That transition between generations of console was monstrous. And MKD was way ahead of MKDA... then MKA comes along is basically the 3rd upgrade to the same game. Aside from online lag issues, it was better than MKD in gameplay. Presentation was better in MKD but that's because MKA is basically a next-gen version of MK: Trilogy.

I believe that people will be affected by MK8 the way they were by MKDA. That was such a resurrection for the series and think about how many people with no MK-experience got involved and think about the people who liked the 2D MK's and stayed with them. I think the same will happen again. Everyone will try MK8. EVERYONE. Many of us will continue playing MK, some will prefer to stick with MKD/MKA, and some who've never played MK will join in.

For those who say MK8 won't be for the Wii, have you ever heard of other games ports for the systems? Games like Marvel ultimate alliance and sports games have been ported over many systems and you don't hear them complaining.

I wasn't all impressed with MKDA. First 3-D MK to reach a home entertainment system and give every character three unique fighting styles. Sooooooooo? And Trax, I never said MK8 will suck. I said I'm not expecting much out of it. Two completely different things.

That's you personal preference/opinion, lots of other MK fans loved the 3 styles and some were actually pissed when MKA came out that it was cut to 2 instead of 3.

What trax is saying is that it's a bit presumpturous to judge something many, many months before it comes out either way. At this point, we know nothing about MK8 other then UR engine will be used, it'll be darker, gory and of course there's these crossover rumors....

i want a buyout,,, than maybe a company will produce an mk game without stupid deadlines, deadlines are the reason every mk game has been released unfinished.
