I have a couple theories:

-The Dragon King orders Mileena to do something that involves her having to fight Baraka. So Mileena must choose what's more important to her: her goals or her apparent love for Baraka?

-Mileena finds out not only is the Dragon King keeping Kitana alive, but he's made her one of his bodyguards. Mileena freaks out and tries to do something rash and Baraka tries to stop her

-Baraka's been seduced or used by Tanya who wants the Edenian throne for herself.

In the trailer with Baraka and Mileena fighting, it seems that the narrator is implying that Onaga used Baraka in some way to further his plans. Maybe they are fighting because Baraka allowed the Dragon King to take control of Outworld, and Mileena wanted it for herself (and for Baraka).

The other thought I had was that Baraka lied to Mileena and told her that Kitana was dead, and she found out that the DK was keeping her alive.

I really think it has something to do with Baraka's subservience to the Dragon King. I never thought of him as an incredibly intelligent character. Maybe Mileena has had enough of his failure.

wow, thats a really good theory....and that wud be cool if she actually kills Baraka and goes after the DK, and on her way, she runs into Kitana....it'll be cool if they have an ultimate catt fight between Sindel and Jade, against Mileena and Tanya.....and Kitana can be added also

im just about positive that the fight between mileena and baraka, was just a show video and had nothing to do w/ the actual story.. how can mileena and baraka hate each other? theres no 1 else out there for them.. there stuck to gether even if they dont want to be..

or maybe baraka got pissed because she went shopping, and spent to much money on his credit cards...

I don't think Baraka is necessarily unintelligent. He speaks coherently (and with a small amount of wisdom) in his MK Gold ending, and they've never implied that he was an imbecile. Typically imbeciles aren't made Generals. As for why he and Mileena are fighting, I guess we'll just have to wait until Deception comes out to find the answer.

I never considered Baraka dumb, but I don't think he's cunning or decpetive.
I think Baraka only cares about three things in life:
1) fighting
2) f*cking
3) drinking

For whatever reason, if any, he and Mileena are fighting, I don't think it's going to bother Baraka's conscience. He was probably just using Mileena for sex.

Possibly. But I remember Baraka's ending in MK2 had him killing Shao Kahn and becomming Emperor himself. Mileena's ending had her tricking everyone and then becomming queen alongside king Baraka. So I always considered the two of them to be pretty deceptive together, meaning that they hold their highest allegience to each other and are just toying with everyone else until they can get what they both want. So maybe the two of them fighting in Deception is, in fact, a deception - maybe they're tricking the Dragon King into thinking that they're enemies so they can kill him and rule all the realms together.
But who knows, right? This little paragraph is the most conjecture I've ever done on this board. I'm pretty happy just to see Baraka and Mileena back in the game, and I'm content to wait for the game's release to find out if and why they are fighting against each other.

My theory is that they needed a cool video to do, but they only had a few confirmed characters at the time. So they threw them together in a fight that probably won't even make it to the Kontent.

You're probably right. It was quite an early video. I suppose the fun is in the theory!

i thought the same thing actually.....

If there fighting is cannon, here are some whacky ideas:

1. Baraka realises that this "Mileena" is not Mileena, but Shang Tsung in disguise as a test for Baraka.

2. Baraka tries to stop Mileena who figures out Kitana has been resurrected by The Dragon King.

3. Onaga sees Mileena as a threat, so he sends Baraka to kill her to test his loyalty.

4. They were just doing some kinky sparring together.
