Listen, tone down the fiery anger, this is a financial decision and nothing else. If it makes you feel better I can track down the press release.

The gamecube disc is small, sure, but it sure as hell could house MKD, that's just complete bull. Games on the Cube just use more heavily compressed FMV. Hell, Virtua Fighter 4 with all its items and characters and extra backrounds etc didn't even fill a CD-ROM.

If Midway wanted to (and for all we know they DO want to, money matters aren't matters of WANT) they could fit MKD on Gamecube media.

Edit: Just wanna add that, yeah, online play would probably have to go, but that didn't stop Splinter Cell: PT or RS3. I'm not saying the Cube version would've been an attractive version of the game in that sense, but it could be done for sure.
Edit #2: Might aswell add this:

"Midway Drops GameCube Support

the company’s loss of approx. $28.6 million in their 4th quarter of the 2003 fiscal year, which ended December 31st, Midway has revealed that they will no longer be developing or publishing games for Nintendo’s GameCube console, including the recently announced Mortal Kombat: Deception. This confirmation official comes from a Midway representative, who confirmed to IGNcube.com that no future games are planned for release on the GameCube."

Midway's financial press release has nothing to do with MK:D not being on the Gamecube.

Also, VF4 isn't on a CD-ROM. PS2 and Xbox use DVD ROM drives.

However, I'm giving you lots of credit because you didn't say something like "Nintendo hates violent games." And yes, I would like to see the press release that concerns MK:D not being on the Gamecube.

The NTSC release of Virtua Fighter 4 (not Evo) was on CD-ROM media. The PAL release I believe was put on DVD for loading time optimization. Evo however was on DVD in all regions, again though, not neccessarily because of its size.

Polygons and textures for console games aren't all that big really, FMV is largely where it's at. With PC games, textures are larger (hell, everything has to be on a monitor) so that's a different case.

Agreed 100%

Hmm. Okay then. But there is one small problem, and that's the fact Midway Arcade Treasures 2 has yet to be cancelled for the Gamecube.

Yeah, you know, I'm sure it's coming out because they could fit it on the GC disc. :P

No but seriously, I dunno why that's coming out still, perhaps someone else is dev/publishing it, maybe it was announced before the decision was made to drop the cube and due to very little dev time needed they're going ahead with it. I'm just here to answer the MKD question, man. :)

I bought a GameCube a while back, what a bad investment. I am going to trade it in for an X-Box, I have just been thouroughly dissapointed with this system and can see why Midway doesnt want to release Deception on it.
