Isn't this game selling faster than Deadly Alliance?

I remember hearing about Deadly Alliance making 2 million after years of its release. MKvsDC is about to hit 2 million and it hasn't even 3 months since its release.

I'm impressed, actually. But it just comes to show that excessive content and modes are not essential to make a good game. I really hope that Midway continues this use of quality over quantity.

I'm also glad to hear that MK8 is coming. Too bad they couldn't even give us a single detail about it. I mean, fuck, would it really hurt them? But anyways, just glad it's on its way and hoping they don't do anything stupid with it.

Pretty much ^, and everyone knows MK:DA sold VERY well. This is even better and will reach the 2 mill mark soon not a doubt in my mind.

I'd like to see them work on two games:

Mortal Kombat 9

AND

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe vs. Marvel vs. Capcom: All Scores Settled

It's strange, I could've sworn that in a recent Gaming Update that I saw in podcast form, sales of MK vs DC were somewhat disappointing. Hmm, apparently not.

Anyways, while I'm happy that the game has sold well, I'm still hoping that this means the next MK game will be a legit sequel or even that "wiping the slate clean" that Boon mentioned a while back before MK vs DC was announced.

Armageddon was basically MK Trilogy with the previous six games. MK vs DC was a concept game. But seriously, we haven't received a true sequel in Mortal Kombat since 2004.

I read in an interview with Boon in the most recent Gamepro (don't know what issue, but Halo is on the cover) that he liked the idea of MK vs DOA or MK vs Tekken or MK vs Street Fighter.

One word... NO.

MK fans have been loyal to this brand though thick and thin, how about giving the fans what they actually want? I know that Deception was largely fan service, but as I said in another thread, having another versus game would be like Hideo Kojima telling fans that the new Metal Gear Solid would be the best one ever, and then introducing MGS vs Castlevania, where you have Snake, in a terribly flimsy storyline, infiltrating Dracula's Castle.

No thank you.

If you want to wipe the slate clean, bring in a ton of new characters, a story that transitions from the old into something new and fresh, and have an entirely new fighting system, whatever, I'm fine with all of that, but just give a new MK game already. Not a compilation, not a concept game, not an action game, but a new MK fighting game.

Please and thank you grin

No, it isn't. If anything, this proves that the DC combo worked so well, that they already are working on another title.

That's great, but that doesn't mean Midway's huge debts have been eradicated, nor does it mean that the next MK game (while under Midway) is totally safe, which was what my initial question was concerning. But thanks anyway.

Congrats are in order for MK VS. DC but I'm really excited about the next Mortal Kombat video game. I hope they add more depth to the move-set of each character. Maybe they will blow us away with a game that can go toe-to-toe with Soul Calibur IV. I loved Kitana in MK VS. DC but I do hope they do something about that weird costume that she's encased in. Lets also bring back the blood and gore as well as all time favorite characters Mileena, Reptile, Johnny Cage and a few other bad asses! This will ROCK!

Please, not another MK vs DC! Even if i liked MK vs DC, i want a new MK game with gore. the DC universe killed the MK feeling in the game(don't get me wrong on this.. MK vs DC don't feel like MK,even the MK stages don't looks like MK ones )

I want a new MK game with MK vs DC's gameplay but with MK characters only.

I heard it's actually more then the pace MK:DA did to hit the 2 mill mark Red.

As far as the first few weeks not sure which game hit 1 mill first.

Okay, as for the idea that bad games don't sell well, 50 Cent might have something to say about that. What was it called? Bulletproof? A horrible game that sold a lot.

But I get your point mkflegend.

I personally didn't think that MK vs DC was a bad game. But it's certainly not as good as, well, any next gen fighting game out on the market right now. VF5? No. Soul Calibur 4? No. DOA 4? No. SF4? Probably not, we'll see though.

There's just no depth to the gameplay at all. Fighting games have moved past the whole "everyone gets the same stock move set, but then each character has special moves to differentiate them." Scorpion has a spear, why is it that he only uses it for one move?

I don't know, I could go on and on from there, but I won't. It's the same old rant.

I just hope that the next MK game IS an actual MK game. As in, the real MK8. Boon has already stated that he could see an MK vs DC type of series growing out of this experiment. Of course, he also said that "I don't think that we've seen the last of the M rated Mortal Kombat games."

Ya think?

Maybe because if MK just did this crossover junk for the next five years, the MK fans, your core audience, would stop caring about the series.

Shitty games do sell well sometimes.

I enjoyed MK Vs. DC Universe for what it was, a silly crossover game. If Midway doesn't go down the fucking toilet I'd be up for seeing a new MK game definitely with lessons learned from this one. I look forward with, I admit, still a bit of morbid curiosity.

I'd honestly say shitty games(known as really, really, really bad games) well in the millions as much as movies like the Dark Knight break box office records. Rarely.

Everyone knows what MK and DC comics are, pairing them up=cash cow

As for future MK games, honestly I don't care as much if it's MK vs. DC 2 or MK alone again(only difference will be gore/blood etc) which if you do the math had NO bearing on this game in fact it did much better then the previous 3 MK games....so I'm officially convinced as far as the ratings go, they mean jack.

Now, as for gameplay whatever the next MK fighter is crossover or not they NEED to bring back this engine but just improve further upon it. It's already a very, very good engine and 10x better then the 3D MK's.glasses

BTW, wii play isn't a shitty game it's no wii sports but shitty? Not at all. Want shitt? Haze for PS3.....

Without joking at all, the more I think about recent history, the more I think MK could benefit from borrowing concepts from prowrestling games.

Here's hoping the work going in to this one is very careful and considerate about what they want to do with the franchise. After MKvsDC, I think a strong foundation is needed now, more than ever.

Selling 1.8 million is not a really big deal nowadays. Maybe a few years ago, but these days?

Consoles sold this generation more than last. Compared to the inflation just there, because gaming is more integrated nowadays, its mediocre at best. And so is MK vs DC. The fighting, control, graphics were nothing great. Not bad..just not that great.

I think a lot off people wanted what Street Fighter 4 is pulling off right now. A new improved game that really plays like its former 2d self.

That and Boon has made too many promisses in the past he didnt pull through. The few things that would even remotly put me interested in MK8 would be teh true clean slate. meaning throw away everything from the past MK and start anew.

But its all based on one mans opinion, right?

This is MK8 ^. MK9 will be the next MK. For a fighting game especially since they're more underground now days as oppose to 10+ years ago, I'd say that's a pretty big deal honestly.

It's not Mario, Halo or MGS we're talking about here, it's a fighting game. Fighters don't sell nearly as much as other big titles out there.
