Well, I think for the most part you have a good start.

I think for one thing, though, Moloch and Drahmin should be brought back, as it seems like they *should* have a bigger role to play. They must be pretty bad ass if they beat Scorpion (He IS the baddest of the bad).

But I think that Dairou or whatever, could be a new character, but if the Dragon King is so great he shouldn't need to hire help. That's kind of a weak excuse to add more fighters. They need to have something to offer.

Bringing back Kabal is an ok idea, but not with the Black Dragon. Let them be finally put to rest.

I'm personally against bringing back Mileena. I know she was cool and all, but if she comes back she has to be better than just an assassin. Maybe some big secret is revealed that she shares a life essence with Kitana, and if one dies, so does the other. I dunno, something major like that.

And I don't think that Liu Kang's son should be in it, considering how even if he was conceived... he probably wouldn't be old enough to fight anyway. We all know how slow MK time is progressing now ;) Maybe MK7 =P

Yeah, I can see your point. I want to clarify a few things though that may have been in the dark from my original listing...

Kabal is not back as Black Dragon, but rather just for revenge and for that revenge is working with Jax and Kenshi.

Mileena is not back as an assassin (only), but she rather is looking for the opportune time to snatch control herself as Queen of the Realms. Either by killing the Dragon King after Quan is gone or killing Quan after DK is gone. She is aided by the Baraka-like mutant.

Maybe scratch the whole child thing, rather just have Rain, Kitana, and Kung Lao fighting for peace ... Kung Lao supporting her like his dead comrade once did, respect if you will.

Dairou could be a hired hand of Quan Chi's then alongside Mavado.

...this way, you have a bunch of strong conflict in the story. Dunno, this is all my idea. Thanks for your input.

Ok, that makes things a little more sensible. I can see this list is becoming stronger, and more importantly, more valid, but I'd wish others would comment here. You have a very good start in any case.

I think its a pretty good idea. I like the idea of bringing back Rain as a non-stereotype. Like you said, just scratch that Kang child thing, Lui Kang's name should not be mentioned anytime in MK6, but we all know he'll be back someday...

I personally would rather Baraka himself come back, he's not actually confirmed dead. That video in the krypt of Baraka's Demise couldn't actually have happened, Quan Chi said Raiden was dead, the whole world was dead. So that really can't verify Baraka's death.

I don't know if I'd rather see Jax or Sonya go, but defiantly one of them. At least if they aren't dead, let Sonya be captured by the Red Dragon. Mileena is okay I guess, I have nothing against her. Kabal was by far the best new addition in MK3, I learned to like the cyborgs after awhile, but Kabal was still more unique.

I like how you didn't overcrowd the lineup with new characters, I would like to see some other characters return than see new people that suck. Too many newbies, and some of them will have to suck.

I would like to see maybe Reiko in MK6, and they should've given Cage the push once Kang was dead, but I know Kung Lao will most likely win the tournament. Well, Cage has just been my favorite fighter from the beginning, not really sure why.

First thing I'd like to say is Nitara should be in the list. There is so much potential for her. I already like her but with some changed special moves and even have her being freaked out with crosses and stuff she could really add to the game.

Rayden needs to have the thunder strike poses after winning fights (like he used to). That really sets him apart from the other fighters in a cool way. He is a God afterall!

I would much prefer Sektor over Cyrax. The idea of a souless robot programmed to kill is very appealing. Besides being red he blends in better than Cyrax who shares Scorpions colours. He is better with target missiles and inbuilt crushing machine. Cyrax stole his fatality in MKDA!

I want Shang Tsung back with a nejin ability to randomly transform into other fighters images. This way there is no confusing list of moves just to change into the fighter you want. It's as simple as the touch of one button.

A new character I'd like is a real Roman Gladiator, abducted from the past by Shang Tsung with promises of wealth and immortality if he can win the tournament for the side of evil. Tsung could even teach him a couple of special moves (unique) to put him on level footing with the modern day fighters. A bloodthirsty Gladiator in authentic costume, weaponry and speaking Latin would be very cool in this game.

I don't know why more people don't respond to posts like this. The most interesting posts on the MK6 forum to me are ones that tell ideas for a storyline. Well, I guess I'm gonna give my ideas now.

I think there should be 10 playable characters to start. Along with the original arcade mode, there should be a story-type mode. The first 10 characters story modes should be the way to unlock more characters, instead of purchasing them in the Krypt. There should be 2 characters to unlock in each of the first 10's storylines. Either by fighting them, or perhaps fighting an enemy. This in all gives you 30 characters in all, not including secret ones.

The story modes for the other 20 charcters, maybe can help unlock costumes or fatalities.

Anyway, the first 10 characters should be the characters who influence the storyline the most. In my opinion these should be those 10 characters.

Kung Lao- He should win the tournament I guess, avenge Lui Kang or whatever I suppose. He approached Tsung afterwards and plans to end it right then. But he notices Shang Tsung and Quan Chi have begun fighting. He decides to let them finish each other, and he decides to steal the amulet from Quan Chi as well. He doesn't realize the power of the amulet, and tosses it where he thinks no one could find it. Unlockable characters in story: Raiden, Kizmet(see 'new characters' below.)

Johnny Cage- After the tournament Cage returns home and is cheered by whatever is left of earth's population. He doesn't notice the Red Dragon member Hsu Hao kidnap Sonya and take her back to outworld. Once he learns of this, he vows never again to step foot into Hollywood. He joins the Special Forces unit, who are beginning to launch a search for Sonya. Unlockable characters: Jax, Kano.

Sub-Zero- Sub-Zero returns to training more Lin Kuei warriors. Frost has left the group for unknown reasons and has not been see since. Sub-Zero has learned of the Red Dragon's plans to destroy his clan, and of the strange reappearance of the Dragon King. He puts it all on the line to stop both of the invasions. Unlockable characters: Scorpion, Sektor.

Quan Chi- Upset with their loss, he attacks Shang Tsung, but midway in the fight he begins to feel weakened. He pursuades Shang to forget the fight. He then notices his amulet is missing, he does not panic, only fools Tsing that they still have power over the dragon king's army. Which they don't. Quan Chi keeps the alliance with Tsung, but hides the fact that they are indeed severely weaker than the new threat of the Dragon King. The two then recruit more assistance from outworld warriors. Unlockable characters: Shang Tsung, Dairou.

Mavado- Mavado's first order of business is to kidnap an earth warrior, to lead all of them back to outworld. He does so, and instructs Hsu Hao not to leave Sonya's cell. He keeps his ties to the Deadly Alliance, thinking they are the most powerful force in the coming war between The Dragon King, the Deadly Alliance, and Earth. He then instructs agents to infiltate the most powerful alliacne in earthrealm, the Lin Kuei. Unlockable characters: Gomas, Kabal.

Reiko- Reiko reappears, much differently. He has apparently become the leader of the mysterious group, The Brothers of Shadow. He enters in on the side of the Dragon King, but this odd groups intentions are still yet unknown. They have been said to have located Shinnok's amulet, but it has not been seen by anyone yet. Unlockable characters: Noob Saibot, Raptilian.

Kitana- She returned to her realm of Edenia only to find that a mysterious group that no one seemed to be able to identify had destroyed many of the major cities. She swore to her people that these men would be brought back to Edenia and be put to justice. She enters to assist her friend Kung Lao, and also to find these mysterious men. Unlockable characters: Rain, Jade.

Kenshi- Kenshi leaves the Special forces unit for unknown reasons. He was brought back to earth to soon, he feels he needs to defeat Shang Tsung himself. He makes a deal with a mysterious and magical being, that in exchange for sending him to outworld, Kenshi must bring him back a sacred amulet. Kenshi agrees and begins his search for the sorcessor and this amulet. Unlockable characters: Ermac, Baraka.

Nitara- She recovers her amulet, but knows that Reptile/Dragon King will be after her. She hides, and makes a deal a strange individual with fierce powers. She is to find Shao Kahn's body and armor and present it to this being. If she does, her race will receive the gift that they have so long wanted, their own seperate realm. Unlockable characters: Drahmin, Blaze.

Beldona- Beldona comes from an unknown realm beyond the wastelands. With Kahn's recent death and the arrival of the Dragon King, her people send her to pledge to this new force. For centuries, Kahn had tormented her people, using them as sacrifces, and forcing them to live in a desolate region such as theirs. Beldona however is stopped by a nearly destroyed cyborg, she then assists the robot. It says it is called Smoke, and it wishes to obtain an amulet that will free its soul and help it return to human form. Beldona allows it to come along, she is fascinated by the storys it tells of earthrealm, she wishes to see its full beauty, but knows the Dragon King may destroy it. She is confused about what to do next, carry out her people's wishes, or assist earth, the place she knew her people would really like to be. Unlockable characters: Smoke, Chameleon.

Alrighty there's my little idea. Oh yeah, the new characters...

Beldona- Its all up there.

Raptilian- Reptile learns he cannot fully control himself once possessed. He can only occasionally regain focus, when he did, he summoned up a general of the Raptor army, his race, with his new-found powers. Raptilian serves loyally to the Dragon King and is leader of his forces.

Dairou- You can find it in the Krypt. Basically just like a bodyguard to Shang, I liked him, so I threw him in.

Kizmet- Kizmet is not a living being. Nor a spector such as Scorpion. Fujin attempted to reform his body, he was to be an earth warrior. Fujin, however, made a mistake and the man that was sent down was a zombie. At first, he looked dead, but slowly became more alert. He continues to increase his strength, and seems to have learned the ability to pass through objects. This will make him a dangerous foe should he decide to join another force other than Earth.

Gomas- Gomas was summoned by Shang Tsung from medievil times. He has a prior injury, resulting that he has only one eye. He wears a piece of cloth over it as he battles, no glass eye. He was lended to the Red Dragon by Tsung, and Mavado has made him leader of the operation to attack Sub-Zero's clan the Lin Kuei.

There, well, let me know what you think, it took quite awhile to type!

Interesting ideas. I like how you gain characters in story mode, like an RPG, picking up people along the way. You new character ideas are cool too (unfortunately Midway probably already knows who is gonna be in there game).

I think to add to this there should be at least one secret menu, 2 fatalities per character, X amounts of pits (depending on level possibilities), and a weapon fatality. I also think there should be no less than 3 more secret characters (unplayable but morphable like the MK2 rumors) and at least 2 unlockable hidden characters like in MK:DA ... each character should have their OWN moves and finishers. Take your time Midway, no rush - make us an extraordinary, indepth game. Some ideas for secret characters could be:

Nimbus Terrafaux - Someone brings him out of hiding (which he has been doing since MK1) to fight in Mortal Kombat as a secret warrior.

Skarlet - they did a red ninja called Ermac, she is still a glitch rumor too. Maybe she could be a sister to one of the female ninjas, dunno.

Hornbuckle - I know he is Liu Kang in MK2, but now Liu is dead - this could be a way to bring Liu back, er a lookalike back by using an old rumor. Wouldn't be the first time Ed said one thing and in reality did something else. Maybe, if Blaze is back, Hornbuckle could be here to work for the Dragon King and stop Blaze's assault. Dunno.

...these are just some more rough ideas. My apartment is a mess, when I find the artwork I did for some new character concepts I will post them with their info. Enjoy and love to hear more ideas.

I wanted to add to my previous post about secrets. While this has nothing to do with storyline it will affect lineup. If the DK is NOT playable off the select screen possibly he could be through some kind of code then trick on the select screen and through a morph move if Tsung is back. Just a thought.

Yeah, I guess you guys are right. Perhaps the name is too simple, I have been searching for words but I can't come up with any. Anyway, a couple of my other characters, like Kizmet, names mean things. Kizmet means fate or destiny, I altered the spelling of the word 'Kismet' for this. And Beldona is a poisonous plant with blackish berries. The real word is "Belladonna". Gomas is just my own word I guess. I tried to come up with something similar for Raptilian but I can't. Raptor just sounds to similar to Riptor like you said, (that is his name). I thought of a word, camien(sp?) I know this is in the crocodile family but I must not be spelling in right because its not in the dictionary. Perhaps an altering of this word would be cool, but like you said, my characters won't appear in MK, unless Ed Boon and Co. really do read messages on this board...

I think that leaving it as Reptile would be fine. Just because his persona changes, doesn't mean his name has to ;)

True. But Cage was resurrected for MK4, not MKDA. He must have lived through MK4 to still be alive. Besides, if they get rid of too many classic characters, they will start throwing in too many sucky new characters. That's exactly what happened in MK3. Some of the new characters introduced in that game were some of the worse ever. Anyway, the team usually keeps the most popular characters around, and on most polls I have seen around the net, people like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, and Cage are very popular.

Ok, fine, scratch Cage but add Motaro, Khameleon/Chameleon and Sheeva to that list. I realize what you're saying, but change is needed to keep MK alive. I think the ONLY thing that will NEVER change is Scorpion/Sub-Zero. They kind of embody MK. I mean, to me, the "Classics" are whoever was in MK 1, and since Liu Kang and Goro are dead and not likely returning, I think it is a bit unfair that Cage gets new life.

But that's a point that can be argued. A lot of people regard everyone from MK2 to be classics, so, how long until combatants are classics? 3 games? 4?

Anyway, all I'm trying to do is help this list by eliminating any kombatants that are very likely NOT going to be in MK6. I suppose that although I think Cage shouldn't, his new storyline makes it seem like he will be.

So, can anyone think of who else will NOT likely be in MK6? Not personal dislikes, but probable cuts.

I personally don't see how Nitara has any reason to return. She has closed off her realm from the others. Bo Rai Cho is too 'supporting role' to return, not much of a good lead. Li Mei the same. Little 'pawn' style roles should be left out. To me, as long as Scorp, Subbie, and Kitana are in I am a happy camper. Uh, I don't see any reasons for Reiko, Kai, or Jarek (as said). Those are my additional thoughs, damn tired...heading off for the night.

I think Nitara and Reiko storyline's can be explored more. Reiko of course had that odd ending so light could be shed on that. Plus lots of people have asked questions about him, he has gained in popularity. I personally liked the 'vampire in mortal kombat' thing. She is a very orignal character, alot better than some.

Like you said, Bo Rai Cho should go. Just as you explained, he is just too supporting. Li Mei needs to go back to Tekken where she should be. Hsu Hao, can go away. Mokap of course, I HOPE that I will NEVER see him again!

Sure MK does need new characters, but adding them with a strong storyline is difficult. Using people who have been in earlier games is a good idea. You can build up their stories, instead of having to start from scratch. Thats why in my MK6 suggestion I gave 5 new character ideas, there shouldn't be too many more newbies than that. Also, I did think of a new name for my Raptilian character. I am not sure if it is better or worse but I would say Moray would be an original name.

Yeah, I definitely agree on Stryker and the old bosses (with the only possible exception of Shao Kahn). Nightwolf is also a likely candidate to go forever. As for Jax or Sonya, I think it would better suit the story to kick Sonya. Also, I think it would be cool to see a Roman Gladiator, they had one in War Gods though so they might decline. I also think a true Medieval Knight would be cool too (pulled from time). They could even give him some kind of legendary name like Lancelot or something (possibly even just Lance). May be stupid but just an early morning thought ;) Anyhow...

Yes. I think this idea of a warrior that has been removed from the past is a great idea. I've wanted to see one in an MK game for quite some time. Thats why I put one in my storyline, either some medievil knight, or a Roman Gladiator like you said. Either would be cool.

Anyhow, the list I made above are just characters that I dont think will be in MK6. I am quite sure that in some future MK, Kahn and Kang will both be back somehow. Everyone is just sick of Lui Kang right now, whenever the time is right, he'll make some strange return. Death is not eternal in MK.

To be respectful, I don't really like most of your ideas for the MK6 storyline. I think it needs more to it to make it more interesting and to make it more MK. I'll post a couple of ideas right now and the rest will come later.

It seems most likely that Kung Lao was the one who killed Shang Tsung. I wouldn't want Shang to come back in MK6, because I think we've seen enough of him for now. Kung Lao should be the new main hero but there should be other forces/events (good and bad) who try to effect his judgment and his thoughts on being a leader. I don't want Kung to end up like Liu Kang where the storyline gets redundant so I'd like to have some twists for Kung Lao.

Kitana's storyline also needs help and maybe it would be interesting if she fell in love with Kung Lao. That way, Kung Lao can be even more distracted and if Liu Kang were to return (probably in an evil way) there could be the battle of the Shaolin Monks. However, there needs to be something else for Kitana's storyline like she's keeping some sort of secret from everyone. (i'm not sure what it is yet)

As for the Special forces, there needs to be major changes with Sonya and Jax. First of, I think that Jax should be killed somehow and to not return for a long time because his purpose was gone after MK2. I liked him in MK2 better than I did in the rest of the MK games, even though he has become a better fighter. If he was to return for MK6, he should learn how to not rely on technology and instead rely on his inner strengths. This means that he should have more spiritual moves like his MK2 Sonic Wave instead of technological attacks like the Machine Gun. Sonya will most likely come back and I hope she becomes evil or something like that.(I'm not sure how) Since Shang is dead, Kenshi should wander of finding new fighters to challenge, trying to look for a purpose while Ermac secretly watches over him trying to do the same thing Kenshi is doing.

This is sort of what I was saying when I posted this topic a few days ago. Shang Tsung should be dead, but I feel Sonya should be too - as well as Kano and Hsu Hao. Read my initial post to see my original draft for the story. I like your Ermac idea, ties him in nicely ;)
