MKD, a masterpiece Potential wasted!

I hereby admiting that MKD is the BEST MK game ever created, so I am NOT complaining this is a bad game. However, if you look at this game closely, you HAVE to think "OMG, this game could be so much more" than what it is, a game of EPIC porportions. A game that could be #1 on the charts, for many many weeks.
I will talk about this subject with NO MORE SU in mind. However, if there ARE actually more secrets in this game, then I am more happy!
Ok, in Konquest mode, we can play against many characters like Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, etc.
Why can't they just let us play them?
Also, in Konquest mode, there are always Koins for rewards kinda boring. It could be more than Koin rewards, maybe gain something like clothing, weapons that you actually USE/Wear when you fight in Arcade mode.
Then, there are the theories a lot of us talked about these weeks, like from walking in clouds to a secret area (A-9) to discover something Bigger.... or collect the colored keys to unlock something big too...
If this stands as NO more SU, you gotta admit the game feels incomplete. I mean, there are lines & stuff in the CODE all over UNused, what's up with that?
I am positive person, so hey, maybe the next MK game will be a Masterpiece?

Sorry to burst your bubble but MKD couldn't have been #1 on the charts for more than 2 or 3 weeks anyway. GTA is upon us. Then Halo 2. MKD could be the best game ever made and it still couldn't hold up to those juggernauts. So don't worry, just like Deception for what it is and enjoy yourself.

Once in a while, there comes out a game that is SO good it has GOOD word of mouth, the sales getting stronger and stronger after the First week. And hell if MKD would have a Konquest mode you can do much more, you can get a lot of adventure game fans hooked, regardless they like play Mortal Kombat arcade or not. To me, like I said it's already great, having 3-4 modes that gives hours of gameplay. that unlocks, what, 12 other characters?
All I am saying, is Konquest mode could be something much more, and you know it.
Well, perhaps one day, they will HIRE some people who usually writes Adventure games like Myst, KOTOR, Jade empire, or whatever and get them to Finish Konquest mode that kind of style. Places you have see, buildings you can enter, you can truly go inside and solve some puzzles, mysteries about the MK universe.
It would be another Mortal Kombat Mythology type of game, instead of fighting game.
Halo 2 is the Most anticipated game, but this game is a MONTH after MK came out, so what are you talking about?

Actually you MIGHT be wrong. My friend, who I thought wa the biggest GTA fan ever, said that he'll buy MKD first. And he's not that much of an MK fan anyway. Not more than anyone else I know, just like one of those, "Oh yeah, that's a cool game, I remember playing it way back in the day with that yellow guy who says, "Get over here!""

There is nothing wrong with the game. Well Konquest sucks, but the fighting game is fine. The reason they don't give us all the characters is most likly just money. They have the option now to put out a quick re-release of the game with all those other characters. All they have to do is toss in some fatalites, specal moves, and make them playable. With far less work than making a new game they can put out one the major fan base can't resist. Wrap it up charge $50 and make a quick few mill. Midway has made several of those games with MK line in the past.
Always leave them wanting more. Thats just good buisness. Its manipulation, but thats what buisness is all about. Getting everything they can out of you.

No, MKD is a Great game, but it's NOT a masterpiece by any means.
There is so much things in this game, like Ninja Star in the game leading people to believe it has a greater purpose, yet it does nothing/codes are not finished, and not to mention A TONS glitches like -1, A-9...
If you call that a masterpiece, I call Star Wars: Episode I Phantom Menace a masterpiece movie!

I hope they make MK7 better. Here's my idea about Konquest in MK7...
I don't think MK7 should have a Konquest mode...
Instead, Midway should release another adventure game, like (MK: Shaolin Monks), but instead of playing as Kung Lao or any other MK character, you get to create your own. You get to play through MK history as your own custom fighter. With the ability to choose your name, gender, moves, fighting styles, and your own custom look. You should be able to unlock different of clothing, moves and fighting styles in unique ways.
Mabye, to unlock clothing you can buy it or recieve it as a present from someone after completing a mission for them. A shadow preist can give you a cool looking robe, Baraka could give you his awesome "MC Hammer" pants, Sub-Zero could give you his helmet, ect. You should be able to mix and match different outfits to create your own custom look.
To get a certain fighting style, you should have to visit a dojo and pay money so a martial arts master can teach you or find a person who has that fighting style and train with them. To get a weapon fighting style, you need to buy a weapon, find it or recieve it as a reward from somebody. Then, once you have the weapon, pay a martial arts teacher to teach you to use it or take it to a person who uses that weapon and learn how to use it from them. The weapons in each realm should be unique and have their own strengths and weaknesses.
And to get special moves you have to buy a book that teaches you how to perform special attacks or go to certain people and train with them.
Once you have completed the adventure game and chosen your own looks and moves, you should be able to make a save file. Once MK7 is released, it should be able to take information from the save file and make it into a custom character. Remember, these are going to be next-generation systems, so who knows what features they'll have...

You can't play those characters because, more than likely, they simply don't fit into the story of MKD. Since Konquest spans all the storylines and time periods of the MK series, it makes sense for them to be in certain places, depending on if it's in the context of that particular story.
They simply used the MKDA characters because they already existed as models/fighters from the previous game.

I think it's a masterpiece know why? Unlike you, I didn't hold on to bullshit dreams like the Ninja star and the SUs. I told you they did nothing, but you insisted on searching.

I think its a great game in and of itself. Other than the couple of problems with Kombat, the fighting aspect of the game is good. Chess Kombat is another refreshing style of playing, and Puzzle Kombat is downright addicting. Konquest was alot better than MKDA.
Now, could it have been better? Sure, but thats the problem with fighting games, they always feel like they are missing something, and MKD is no exception. Does MKD feel like its missing more than most? Yes, and here's why:
1. We were told that there would be a character (Shujinko) that was supposed to be completely customizable in his styles, and we were told this over and over. How many threads were made about who was going to build what kind of character. Did they deliver? No.
2. They said there would be a ton of unlockable stuff in the game, and they are right. I was very happy to be able to unlock the entire Krypt with playing through Konquest once and beating the game with a few characters. It wasnt overdone like MKA's Krypt was (which I STILL havent unlocked everything yet). However, Ed Boon himself is quoted in several different places talking about these supposed 'Super-unlockables' that you would have to unlock waaaay after you had beaten Konquest. Sorry, but walking up to Raiden right after beating Konquest and defeating him to unlock him does not feel like 'waaaaay after Konquest.' Neither does meditating behind the tent to get Liu. So did they deliver? No.
3. There are about 18 more Puzzle Kombat models just taking up space on the disk that could have been easily added in, and several of them are depicted in videos and ingame cutscreens. So why weren't they used?
All in all, MKD is a great game and I'll proly continue to play it regularly until MK7 comes out, but the MK Team needs to drop the act about all the secrecy. They made all these Guide companies sign all these 'secret release forms' and whatnot, but then showed us what was in the game long before it was released. Comeon, Raiden is on one of the limited covers, and hes a super-unlockable? And how long ago did we see the video with Liu Kang in it? Months now....so much for hush-hush secrets.
It sounds like they had alot of great ideas as usual, and then didn't meet their deadlines. It happens, but instead of continuing to string us along, they should just come out and say it. I doubt anyone (well, most people) would be mad at them if they just admit they didnt hit their target. What makes people mad is spending time and energy searching for something that doesn't exist. Most people that wanted the game, have bought it by now, and most people that continue to play the game will continue to do so based on the game's actual merits. So what would be the harm in releasing the remaining secrets of it? None that I can think of.
I think that a big reason why people supposedly didnt like MKDA is because Boon came out and stated there is "One Final Secret" and to this day there are still some poor bastards out there who believed him and continue to search for it. To those brave souls, I salute you for your determination.

I also thought MKD didnt live to its full potential. There were several things that could/should have been done.
A few are, adding a quest list in Konquest so we remember what the active quests are, changing the dial a combo system to a system thats more interactive based on timing and actually seeing the results of each hit as im pressing a button. Not a button queue.
Those super unlockables should have been in there. MK can't compete with the other fighting games in terms of the fighting system, but it always had the mystery the others do not. Every MK game has had these characters and MKD sadly breaks the trend.
They had so much time to work on other areas of the game since the game engine was finished for deadly alliance, they had the models from the last game. Even if hidden characters had no storyline, any of them would have been more integral to the series than say... Mokap was.
We told them in the last game that too many of the secrets revolved around the krypt. They didnt listen and instead just made fewer coffins to unlock and there is still nothing outside whats in the krypt. How stupid is that.
Many of the fighting styles and animations were recycled from the last game. How much work did they actually put in the game? The models only need to follow a script. They had most of the work done for them.

For the sake of MK:D being better I would have waited the extra time. Well we wouldn't really have a choice anyways..
You know they only have so much allotted time so in turn they must leave room for goodies in the next Mortal Kombat. I won't be surprised either way whether or not there are more playable characters in Deception.

Well put, that's the game I am willing to buy, and play! Maybe something MK Developers should think about something like Mortal Kombat MMORPG

Oh well, it's their first try, so I am going to give them a break, I guess.
See, I am NOT freaked over there are NO more SUs, what I am freaked over is how they DO NOT answer a question straight! Their responses messed with our minds, "YES NO, maybe, perhaps"... dodge answers like that is what I didn't like.
I can deal with No more SUs, but just tell me straight! So, I can let it rest. Otherwise, I look at the leftover codes in this game, and think it's a strange. See, that's another thing they could touched on, but they didn't. Why there are SO MANY leftover codes in the game?
I just hope it's not for a selfish reason like making money, because if it is, then that's a poor attitude that's actually going to make me not buy any more of their games.
I hope they come clean and give a definitive answer one day, and make the future games much better, living up to it's potential. When hackers hack the codes, they won't find a single leftover line that will make people go nuts.

This game could be much more better.
Hopefully MK7 have everything to be a masterpiece, IF they don't waste another game just to release it sooner.
