MKD and memory cards

Is it possible to use the same memory card with another mortal kombat deception disc?
Or does it have to be the same memory card with the same MKD game and same PS2?
The reason I ask is because last time my brother tried to copy my profile for Deadly Alliance and he couldn't play it in his PS2
