Unless you can be more detailed with these tournaments and the people who have won them I can't exactly just take your word for it, and it still stands , if these "tournament winners" are as well-known and as skillful as you say they are, then losing to a button masher still makes them an embarressment to the game, I can never be able to call someone like that a good player, it is too easy to beat a button masher.
My point is that someone who mashes, isn't half as bad as someone who uses cheesy glitch infinites. I know I'd much rather be someone who has no idea what they're doing, but still genuiely trying to win, than someone who purposely exposes mistakes in the game to use to their advantage, it's as bad as using cheat codes. I have a lot more respect for Tekken masher players, than MK glitch using players.
Saying knowing what strikes do what etc. don't exist in MK was a bit too much, but it is has it's limitations compared the amount of detail in the moves of Tekken. For example in Tekken a good player must learn which dashes for the moves are the suitable for each move, whereas the movement you are allowed to do in MK is limited to an extent that there are less character/fighting style-specific movements.
Your points about projectiles would certainly be valid, if it wasn't for the fact that fans of other games aren't interested in them, meaning when the wishlist came along for tekken 5, and when they will come for Soul calibur 3 and Virtua fighter 5, people won't be asking for projectiles. They are only seen as a novelty value to the game, like fatalities and realms and different species. They're certainly cool in their own aspects, but not needed to improve upon the success of the other games.
Yeah right I'd love to hear the names of these Tekken players who won out of state tournaments and lost to mashers. Please, do give us names and the tournaments since you know so much.
On the other hand, a REAL Tekken player was ranked #1 in MKD for basically fucking around with how broken the game is. Even Tekken players that barely try are better at MK than MK players who jack the series off day in and day out. MK's best players don't even really like MK. It's funny. No other fighting series can have such a wondeful claim.
MK = garbage and will continue to be until MK fans start complaining at how shitty the system is instead of wasting their time here discussing fatalities and other fluff.
Yeah, it's pretty difficult to believe that somebody who won "state championships" wouldn't know what a simple crouch jab is, because that has to be one of the most simple ways to take out a masher in Tekken (going by my experience, anyway).
The Street Fighter release should have won this award in my opinion.
Normally I would stay out of this.. Here's my $.02( like or dislike it , I could care less.) Enough with the bitch-fest already !!! How many times can you bring up the same sh*t over and over again? The way I see it is this: For everyone that doesn't like MK, what have you done that is actually relevant to getting the developers' attention but gripe and complain on a fan forum? I mean the bottom line is fans are gonna buy it regardless of what your opinion may be. Instead of wasting your time typing countless counter arguments, how about finding the email adresses of Boon (and everyone else involved) and flood their inboxes with complaints/suggestions. Something is bound to happen. Don't stop with just that...How about a simple protest/boycott that only requires that you DON'T buy another product from them ? Have all of your "real mk fan bretheren" do the same. Make it publically known if you have to. By any means necessary, right? Once the sales drop, something is bound to happen. All I'm saying that if it is that big of a deal( which I honestly agree with) make it known( to the extent of pure, unadulturated persistence) to the powers that be.
To all the other guys that say MK is fine: I cannot agree completely with that. While I have grown up/enjoy playing MK, I believe it's long overdue for a HUGE overhaul. FLSTYLE, Menthol,Colguile and the rest actually seem to want what's best for the series. Even though they may come of sounding like complete mk-haters at times to certain people, I doubt it. Even I thought it was bashing in the beginning. Now I look at it differently. I see all of their suggestions as definite improvements and I don't think it would hurt MK at all. Actually , as a whole , it would make Boon & co. millions more than they are currently bringing in.How about two unique modes of play , sort of like Arcade and Simulation in sports titles ?MKArcade/Dojo for easy pick up and play for beginners, normal players and oldschoolers with over the top antics. MKMasters mode for introducing players to High level techniques like advanced combos/ parrying/counters/reversals. Finally for the 'Coup De Grace' a mode that incorporates both: MortalKombatMadness . Old School Nostalgia (Blood signature moves, fatalities storyline) + New school play mechanics/ Innovation + ultimate playability and enjoyment for all MKFans= Flawless Victory in Mk7 . Congrats to the MkTeam for winning the award but dont settle for just that .And sorry for the lengthy post.
