In MKD, it would be better if the screen didn't black out in the background when you do a fatality like it does in MKDA. (In earlier MK's the game darkened but didnt go pitch black). If the environment stays the same(same brightness, color), the fatality seems more real, and not just some cutscene. I think the mkda fatals were cutscenes because you could do them anywhere on the screen and you would magically be put into position according to the fatality range. Im not saying they were cg cutscenes but rather in-game ones. They were'nt dynamic. I could be wrong...anyway I think the fatalities in MKD should be harder to do in the sense that you have to be the correct distance from your opponent like in earlier MK games.

Yep, I hated the black in MKDA. I guess there was a reason for them to use pitch-black. Probably hardware limitations. The stages should be darkened, but not covered in impenetrable black, if possible.

BTW does the darkness really add something to the fatalities? They aren't scarier or more realistic. MK4 was fine without the background diminishing. The fatalities looked better IMO.

I didn't like the black background on MKDA much either. It really added no overall effect or mood to the fatalities. It was better in the past games when the arena got slightly darker or in MK4 without any darkness at all.

As for the Fatality distances, I'm not too bothered about them returning or not. It would be more realistic though if they were introduced again though.

Do you think it really was because of hardware limitations? I dont see how it would push the processor too hard. It looks like MKD will use the pitch black screen again if you look at the vidcaps from the 1st trailer. If they have enough power to make them with the regular color, Boon should take heed.

I didnt like what they did with MK4's Fatality time. When the background goes dark it makes you pay attention to the Fatality. In MK4 you couldnt really see what was going on because of all the bright colors. But yeah, they should lighten the darkening up a little like in MK1-UMK3.Not too light though.

I agree, I think they should have the screen darken ,but not go pitch black. I also agree with making the fatalities a bit more challenging to perform. If it is a tough fatality, its kind of like a reward.
