Umm to clarify, no one really got to speak to him on the fly except a few mods. Yet it was understandable why this was done.

Of COURSE it was understandable why it was done. That's all the chat needs is hundreds of newbs in the room going "no SUS? OMG dis game suxorzE@!!!2!!" at once.
The team did a good job. If you are SO bummed your question was not asked, fly to Midway and ask Boon yourself.
The people here volunteered their time to do this. If they shut down this site because of you idiots, I would not blame them one bit, although I would be sad to see it go.

And to the person who said "bullshit", grow up. If you don't like what was done, you have three options:
1. Leave the site
2. Organize a fight night of your own. Good LUCK doing it as well as Scott and the gang. I would come just to laugh at your attempt.
3. Grow up a bit, bite the bullet, suck it up and act a little more civil. Try to realize the work these guys did, without getting paid ( if anything, they lost quite a bit of time and money doing this). So you didn't get what you were expecting. Wah. Deal with it.

Mobster4Christ everyone on this site is gratefull for everything everyone who runs this site does for us because it's been post a few times already that this is done on you guys spare time. I think everyone is just a little disapointed in the way the Fight Night Chat went. I stayed, and I thought it was a little boring though. The chats that where done in the past have had questions that pertained to previous game or rumors. I'm not saying that we're ungratefull for doing the chat, but I think most of us had more expectation about what would be revealed. Most of the awnsers that where givien by Boon where fluff or just the run around, then again he's done it before in previous Fight Night Chats when questions have come up about secrets in the game such as the last secret for MK:DA which I know some people still would like to know just what it is, and the statement that Ermac is in MK 1, but it was Boon who didn't elaborate, so I ready don't know why everyone is getting bullshit at staff members of this site for. We should be gratefull that the devolopment team took time out of there schedule to sit down and do a chat for this site, and awnser out questions. The development team did make some ineresting comments too on MK:D for the Gamecube. I also thought it was a interesting the comment that Boon and the rest of the Dvelopement team where throwing around after the chat.

From the way this thread is going, you've got three types of people:

Brown nosers
Moderates (like myself)
whiners

Bottom line is, like I said earlier in the thread, it was a good fight night. I for one, having been an on/off member of MKO since MK5.org was little more than a Gamers.com message board with a news page back in '99, appreciate the fact that Midway is really treating the fans, and inviting Scott and the rest of the mods to their offices for the Fight Night chat. Hell, I envy them.

Bottomline is, it was because of the dedication of the staff here to MK for all those years that fight night was possible. But I, along with a few other people, think that the MK Team danced too much around all the questions. Its very commendable of them to take time out of their busy schedules to actually sit down with fans...not magazine editors or reviewers...but die hard fans, and discuss the game, then show them around the office. But I think, in my heart of hearts, they should've put more effort into answering the questions. My question got answered to my satisfaction, but lots of other questions....most of them....just got skipped around. The Super Unlockables debate can probably be put to rest, and as far as secret characters go, I no longer beleive there are any, which is very disappointing. An MK without secret characters? Blasphemy.

But overall, it was decent. I just hope in future Fight Nights they choose to be more straightforward with the questions, rather than getting multiple "Yes" "No" "Maybe" "Ummmm" from 6 different team members on one question.

Yes you did. You kissed it hard.

Nobody cares about anything you mentioned. We wanted definitive answers on SU's, and if they said no, we wanted to know why. You didn't ask it. It was almost like you guys were afraid to, like they would get mad at you.

Definate Answers? The definate answer is this: THERE ARE NO SUs. PERIOD. There, happy? We asked, they said. As for why they were giving "shallow answers", you would have to talk to them, but I would suspect it was because some of you read so much into every little thing they say related to the possibility of a secret in a game that they feel it is just insane. As for their joking around, the point of the chat was not only to answer questions but to get to know the team better. This is how they act, and whether you like it or not, they are a bunch of happy and fun people to be around. So get over it.

Alright. I'm going to put this as nicely as possible.

Stop being whiney little bitches.

I was talking throughout their weekend in Chicago and I can guarantee you that they did their damnedest to make everything in their power to please you, the fans. They worked hard on sorting through the questions for fight night. Do you know how many they had to choose from? Not many at all, considering that between the several hundred people at the site and 1200 that showed up in the chat and all they had were about 150-200 (I believe is what ]{ said) questions submitted. Do you think that is a wide variety of legitimate, quality questions after you negate all the duplicated and absurd ones? No. It's not. And you know whose fault that is? It sure as hell isn't any of the staff members' faults.

If you think Fight Night was so damn terrible then the only person you can blame is yourself. They don't make up the questions like many other gaming sites do. The mass audience does. And if you thought the questions "sucked," then you might as well be a hypocrite because for once in the internet, the webmasters cared enough to let you take control, and you failed to do so, then blamed it on them.

Grow up.
Cut the crap.
Take control.
Quit being a hypocrite.
Stop blaming the people that give a damn.

okay i got a few things to say about FN...

1. Thanks to the MKO staff for yet another outstanding FN, it was truely great guys, much appreciated... me as well as lot of others thats been here awhile knows and appreciates how much u guys do for us on here and how much time u all put in, and for that i say thanks!!!

2. For those saying they danced around saying "no'" "maybe" etc. about the secret character question, the reason they did that was because they had already answered it, they said no, this was a repeat really so it was sarcasm...

OK, I've kept for the most part quiet over this, but some people around here have been absolutely making me sick.

Heads up people: If you didn't like how Fight Night went, TOUGH CRUNCH. What did you really expect? That Boon and co. would sit there and divulge every single secret about the game? Unrealistic much? He's said how hard it is to hide stuff from us as it is, so why would he be anything less than cryptic about anything? To make it even harder to hide the secrets? Jesus Christ.

I've got a newsflash for you chaches. What Fight Night was, was exactly what was advertised. The MKO crew chose questions sent in by us, 15 of them, and asked them -- that's what a moderated chat is. We get to ask questions. It was NOT so the MKO staff could grill them on where secrets were -- they were asking questions they received from us, not grilling Boon with their own questions. Those questions that were asked; if Boon wanted to give dodgy answers, that's Boon and NOT the MKO staff. The MKO staff EVEN MADE SURE to ask a follow up question from one of us on SUs after the initial pre-chosen 15 were asked. If Boon is going to dodge after two separate questions, then it really doesn't matter HOW MANY were asked, he's not going to give a straight answer. The MKO staff did every thing they could, within the chosen format, to get us the answers we wanted.

Remember, this is a fan site, not a professional site. We're not even customers for the most part, but free users. The MKO staff can do whatever they want and are not beholden to you whatsoever. If you don't like how they handle things, don't come here. Easy as that. Fight Night served two purposes -- as a chance for us to participate in a moderated chat to have an opportunity to ask the MK makers questions, and yeah, so the MKO staff got to hang out with Boon. Why shouldn't they get something out of it? Like someone previously said, if you think you can do better, make your own site, and hold your own Fight Night. IF you can get Boon to talk to you, then go ahead and grill him on SUs all you want.

Am I disappointed with some of Boon's answers? Sure. I'm disappointed there's apparently no SUs, disappointed by the ninja star and Raiden's staff apparently being useless, and disappointed that Boon and co. often seemed to not take us seriously and enjoyed fucking with us. But to take that out on the mods is just plain stupid.

This is not to brownnose the mods -- I don't give a shit what they think of me. And normally I don't mind complaining so much, I've done a fair bit of it myself, but some of you guys have taken bitching to an all new and scummy low. As an MK fan I feel embarrassed to see the self-centered whininess that some of my fellow MK fans are capable of. And I'm sick and tired of nearly every thread I browse having someone bitch about Fight Night.

To the MKO staff, keep up the good work and if the reaction hasn't turned you off too much, I look forward to future fight nights.

MKO <3 GBD

To sum all of this up:

1. The ads we place on site do not cover the cost of running the site. Not even close. This site is freakin' expensive, and a 2-inch Google ad that only pays on click-through barely generates any revenue at all. If you want to help make MKO better, click the ads. A lot.

2. Less than 0.001% of our members have paying accounts. That doesn't generate income either.

3. The flights and hotels we stay in are paid out of our own pocket. We take our paychecks from our real jobs, then take vacation time from those real jobs, to do this stuff. Midway does hook us up now and again with flights, etc. But for things like this, it's our $500 smackeroos.

4. The questions we received from you guys were all the same and/or crap. 90% of the questions were "Can you tell us what the SU is?". 8% of the questions were about MK:DA's Final Secret. The other 2% had some substance.

5. While you may not have liked Midway's answers to your questions, the truth is Midway didn't like your questions! They answered them without hesitation (with some BS thrown in to keep things interesting.) But the questions were unoriginal and/or regarding things they did not want to reveal. And as CCShadow said ... the guys are fun. They laugh, they joke around, they truly enjoy what they are doing. Deal with it.

6. No one is denying that MKO had fun going to Chicago. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we loved seeing the guys and the studio, and felt as if a small dream had come true. But what could have been an entire day of us taking in all that there was to see and hear, we chose to sacrifice half of the day so we could give something back to you guys. Fight Night isn't easy. The fact that we had 3 IRC Cops in the channel testifies to that. A lot of work that we do because we at MKO love our users. Midway truly loves the fans of its games, and we at MKO feel the same way. This site wouldn't exist without you.

Now, I'm done answering everything. I wish I could tell you we had the method of unlocking Goro in MK:D as well as direct feed of MK7, but as Ed Boon said .... "Do you want the truth or just a good story?"

Everything that M4C said earlier in his original and followup heated responses I back 100%.

Hell, even I got irritated at the sheer idiocy and immaturity that a lot of users have shown and their total lack of appreciation for what he have done and tried to do for them, and expressed it in a few posts thus far that a lot of you likely have seen.

There is a lot more to planning and setting up a fight night chat than you would imagine, as is the continued running of this site which eats up many an hour each night for a lot of us and done solely for your benefit.

It's all volunteer work too.

We aren't paid to do this, and at points I've been sorely tempted to resign and say "Fuck this" to it all, since much of my free time is taken away from my own personal life and other things which I'd like to pursue when I come home from working a hard day to bring in some money.

But I don't give up, since I know there are a lot of decent people that frequent these forums and it would be me giving up on them and not helping them out.
So I stick around.
I do, however take a week or so off from site work on occassion to cut back on overall stress, or to go to the UK to visit my partners folks.
Haven't done so in about 2 years though.

Again, what he's said is true.

I've not had the opportunity to join the guys and meet up with fellow staff at all because of work obligations and lack of holiday time, or overall for lack of money to be able to do so being the major factor.

Hopefully in the next few meetups I can manage some free time and get myself a flight to go as well, but being in Canada causes extra complications for me.

So, that some of you think the site revenue from ads pays for all of this, or that Midway covers it all, you are dead wrong.
If this all did, I would have been there with the rest of the MKO folks at E3 or gamers day, or even at the fight night gathering at Midway, too.

Just had to get that off my chest. wink

I believe that completely. From what I hear there were only about 200 questions submitted. I'm wondering if it would be possible to compile a text file with all the questions submitted, provided you still have them and it wouldn't be hard to do, just to show everyone here what you guys had to work with. I honestly love how much effort MKO puts into these Fight Nights and hate to see this site take heat for problems on either the MK Team's end or on the end of the question askers (if that's grammatically correct though it probably isn't). I wasn't thrilled with the chat either but not because of MKO. It's like when a hockey goalie takes heat for letting the other team score but in reality it was the defenseman's fault. The goalie always takes the heat whether it's his fault or not.
