they said that they wuld use a new engine... are there gonna be more or less martial arts?

Honestly, I hope they don't use martial arts anymore... MK was not a Martial arts game like tekken or that kind of game... it wasn't a street fightert either like SNK or Street fighter games... IT WAS A KIND OF IT's OWN!!!!
I hope they bring that old style back...

I think the use of martial arts was good in the game (it gave you the satisfaction of knowing not everyone had the same damn moves) But anyway, i think they could hav a divers mix between martials and like street, ruthless tactics.
I don't think that's going to happen.

Boon is trying to attract people from the realistic cames, so I don't think going backwards would help them to achieve that goal.

They also have to think about what type of game sells more. They have to think about the money.

It would only be the same basic moves.... they all have pretty much the same moves anyway WTIH the new system...
Then tehy would have to add a bunch of sign moves... not only 3!!! including hitting ones, like super roundhouse or teleport punch... etc.

Plus, martial arts fit SOME characters... for example, I would like to see sonya fighting like a normal person.... kick and punch! It makes sence to see liu kang doing Taekuondo and Karate... but why would someone like for example Baraka or Drahamin know any martial arts???

I think the martial arts were a good improve on mkda but they have to work a lot in martial arts like Wing Chun (the one that is in mkda is awful)

Exactly and seeing jax dressed ghetto and doing martials arts didn't fit him. He needed like street/thug based fighting system.

THAT's what I'm saying!!! It just seems kind of out of place... it's like tekken... a biker doing martial arts?!?!?!!? I think they should improve the old system... not have it exactly the same... but not use the martial arts system because it doesn't fit that well in the MK universe....

If the game is made with a realistic feel, if some characters used martial arts and some didn't, it would be incredibly unbalance. The MK characters are supposed to be great warriors, among the best in the world, and realistically Someone with no martial arts training would never be hold his ground against any decently trained martial artist, unless he was fucking huge. Besides, martial arts add a lot of much-needed depth to the game. I found MKDA's gameplay to be much more fun than the classic MK games.

Yeah! i know it is rational, but it still feels weird... not very MKish... it would be much better if sonya fought likie in the 1st movie! She fought with kicks and punches, although they are considered martial arts, they were not as complicaeted and elaborated like the DA system... I think they should get a basic set of moves for every character (Sweep, uppercut, etc.) PLUS, giving them personalized combos and adding some particular moves (slide, flying kick, Dragon punch - or however sub zero's hit with two hands in DA is called-), including some they got through the DA system, keeping them so the gameplay is richer...
I agree with you on this, It makes sense.

They would fight more animalistic and crazy.
