The MK:D HISTORY
-------------------------------------------------

The sixth episode of the violent and visceral fighting series from Midway pounces on the success of MK: Deadly Alliance to tear even more pain and gameplay pleasure out of the Mortal Kombat beast. Destructible environments and break-through walls that lead to other arenas or fatality zones hearken back to the glory days of the series' surprise smash-through stages, while favorite characters from the series such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena and the returning Baraka all vie for the chance to choose the fate of the world again.

------------------------------------------------

THE INFO ABOUT THE GAME YOU WANT TO KNOW:

First things first: Fatalities. I know it's what you want to know about, so i will tell you everything. In Mortal Kombat: Deception, each fighter will have two unique Fatalities, and from what I've seen, they're more gruesome than anything the series has ever offered. But that's how we like our Kombat bathed in blood.

In addition to individual fighter Fatalities, each character will also be able to trigger a hari-kari move. So when the ring announcer announces the famous words "Finish Him!" both characters will have an opportunity to do a finishing move. Pull off the hari-kari maneuver before your foe does his/her finisher, and you'll rob them of the satisfaction. Did I mention that the hari-kari moves are also horrendously bloody?

But wait, there's more! Since Midway is committed to giving Kombat fans all of the liquid red krovvy they desire, they have added some extra goodies in the area of Fatalities. For the first time ever, players will be able to use the actual fighting environments to produce what Boon referred to as "Background Fatalities." Those who took a look at the Mortal Kombat: Deception trailer will recognize one of these areas—the meat grinder that resulted in the blood storm at the end of the trailer.

The mechanic for triggering the Fatality is simply a red square on the arena floor. Step in it and trigger the Fatality, and you could completely change the outcome of the match in one move. Background Fatalities are primed to make Deception a much more wide-open, free-for-all affair than Deadly Alliance, as fighters will have the ability to use them as a sort of "ring out" from anywhere in the environment.

Speaking of arenas, Boon revealed even more interesting information about how they will be used to enhance the fighting experience. First off, as suspected, Deception will feature destructible areas and multi-tiered fighting, much like that in Dead or Alive 3. What's more, players will be able to interact with elements of the environment. When the game does come out, you'll be able to see Baraka interact with some brutal stages.

--------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------

Let's start with the Konquest mode, which is an evolved version of the training mode from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Now instead of playing through various move and combo challenges before moving on, you go to a world where you also complete tasks, hunt down people and items, find loads of secrets, speed up time, etc. It should last players about 10-15 hours and it seems like it will be a lot more enjoyable than the linear perform-this-move-before-continuing gameplay of the training mode in Deadly Alliance. The Konquest mode is difficult to judge accurately until you've put in more than 15 minutes, but I like that the developers are making the training mode into a game of its own.

Info about chess kombat. In this mode, players pick their lineup of fighters from five different categories: leaders, champions, sorcerers, shifters, and grunts. Each player starts with 16 characters, and you go to battle against other players until someone's leader dies. Many of the moves you can make with your characters are based on real chess moves, but the game doesn't keep itself so strict to those rules that it loses its fun -- players can also cast spells (four offensive and four defensive), set traps to take out enemies who cross them, etc. Should two characters meet on the chess board, the game will go into a single round battle where those fighters fight it out using the normal combat system to determine who keeps their player on the chess board. When the game goes into these battles, the backgrounds and music are different than they are in the normal battles; here they incorporate the level designs and sounds from past Mortal Kombat games, so players of the original Mortal Kombats will recognize the settings.

The standard one-on-one fighting has evolved from the last game as well. While playing, players will see little colored indicators appear at the top of the screen to show when an opponent is vulnerable and things like that, which seems like a good way to show mid-level players when they can best attack and defend. Other changes to the gameplay include level-specific weapons that add extra fighting styles for the players if they can pick them up. The movement feels a lot like it did in Deadly Alliance, but there are enough new features to change to flow of battles.

For the character roster, Midway plans to have about one-third characters from old Mortal Kombat games, one-third characters from Deadly Alliance, and one-third brand new characters. In the E3 version, this consisted of Sub-Zero, Sindel, Kenshi, Bo Rai Cho, Li Mei, Ashrah, Ermac, Hotaru, Mileena, Baraka, Scorpion, and Nightwolf.

There's certainly a lot of game here. I may have forgotten to mention it, but all the game modes mentioned above are playable online as well, so with all that put together, Deception has a lot going for it. It almost feels like a compilation of MK games, since it has level design references to the original games and numerous side modes to explore. I'll find out exactly what it feels like when we check out the final version in October.

-------------------------------------------------

That is all the info i have about Mortal Kombat: Deception. When i do get more i'll post another message. Meanwhile, lets begin the countdown until deception does release.

Dont forget to post your ideas on this.

I think you did a swell job. It must have taken you a long time to come up with all that. I think your words are very discriptive. The only thing you kinda threw me on was the konquest mode. You stated that the game should be 10 to 15 hours long. I would like to say a little something on that subject. When I was playing deception at e3 I asked one of the mk staff if he could guide me threw the game. He started helping me move around the city and started telling me more about his baby-Konquest mode-. So I started asking alot of questions about this part of the game. There are going to be loads of secrets packed in this game. And if you blow threw the game in 10 t0 15 hours you will have missed half of the secrets. He also stated that by the time mk7 comes out you still might not have found out all of them. So i am going to disagree with your hour rate. Other than that one small thing you did a good job at summing up the game. DSB

Once again, you've spent a lot of time telling us stuff we already know. See the topics pinned at the top of this forum? They're there for a reason.

Hey dude... All of this info you copied straight from IGN.com. I just checked it out myself and it reads word to word with your info and IGN came out with the info on March 24th. None of this info is yours. Mods I think you should close this thread.

Nah, seriously though dude I appreciate the time you took to write all of this out as it would be helpful to noobs that come here. But, there is a sticky topic at the top of the forum which already has all of this and more. Please be mindful and remember to check the first couple pages of topics to see if things were already covered previously. No one expects you to go through 40 something pages of threads but at the very least the first 2 or 3.

well sorry to say like others, but it is repetitive. You are somewhat new, maybe not to the site but maybe to these forums. You should always take a look and see what others have typed up before posting another similar topic. On the side note however, it was very well written even though key points were left out.
