I've noticed alot of parallels from Mortal kombat and the last season of the WB's Horror-Comedy-Drama, Angel.
First of all , the lastt scene of the series had the last 5 main charachters fighting a battle in which most or all were going to die in. Like the main earthrealm champions being killed in the battle agenst the deadly alliance.
second, in the last season, Amy Acker's charachter, Fred was consumed by an ancient evil creature named Illyriah and it look over her body. Much like Reptile becoming the dragon king at the end of MK 5.
And third, the old wizard Illyriah killed in the last episode looked exactly like the MK1 Shang Tsung, 'cept he had red skin.
