GameSpy: How did you get the gig as the voice of Mortal Kombat?
Herman Sanchez: It just kind of came about by my being employed at Midway. I started out here as a graphic designer, so I got to know a bunch of the guys in development, and one day someone said, "Y'know, you have a cool voice. Why don't we get you in the studio and run through a few things. Maybe we'll use you in a game." So I did a couple things, and then Ed [Boon, team leader of the Mortal Kombat games] decided that he liked my voice too, and that it was a good sound for what they were looking for: deep, dark, and ominous.
GameSpy: Are there any lines that are more fun to say than the others?
Herman Sanchez: Ed and I get a kick out of the self-satisfaction kind of lines, like when I says things like, "Excellent!" or "Outstanding!"
