I never buy my game at GameStop just because the people at my local GameStop store is dumb as a cow. They laugh at people who go into the store and buy a games and they don't even have a right date on some games release like when I went in their to see if they have NFL 2K5 and they post it up Aug. 15 the release date.

Yes, they are. Most people doing any job are dumbasses at it. I used to make shower screen doors and shit, think I have any fucking idea about them though? None at all, I can just assemble the stupid things.
Same with people at Gamestop I'm sure. They may work there, but that doesn't make them experts of the gaming industry, it makes them cashiers... Granted, they should know things like this for when people ask, but with how many games are made these days it's understandable they get messed up from time to time. Just because we love MK and know the release date, it doesn't mean other people give a shit about it.
Mortal Kombat owns Gamestop.

Mine are filled with them too. I pre-ordered the kollectors edition last tuesday and I had to explain to the guy about the about the 5 different covers for XBOX and the he says, "So U want it for PS2 with Baraka on the kover......right." Then he said it comes out October 2005. Then I said are U sure about that. Then he said "does it look like im wrong". Dumbass guy did'nt know what he was doing.

HAHA! This thread is great. I love it.
I hate the people who work at Gamestop as well. Mention the words ''Mortal Kombat'' to a team of them behind the counter at once, and you're likely to hear one of them mutter''Yeah, I played Mortal Kombat once. I sucked so bad at it.'' Then go off to say something like ''But you know what game I am good at though, is..,'' and then mention some stupid RPG game on the Super NES or PSX.
Bunch of wankers.

heh I'm full of stories of softwareetc's/gamestop's dumbassness...including the time where they advertised in their god damned
catalogue something for $20 that had an 80 dollar value.... they wouldnt sell it to me cuz they said it was an error. I sorta-tricked this other gamestop lady bitch into selling it to me for 20 but i still refuse to shop there after that.
funny story though, i went to ebgames to reserve mk:d:pp and while i was there, some guy from softwareetc (gamestop) was there like hanging out hoping to get an application and hired how pathetic

Gamestop is great. I know the manager at mine, I get hooked up nicely.
No EB games in my area, can't say there.
Gamestop releases games early too, I've gotten games one or even two days early.
By the way, when I'm playing Deception in a couple of weeks or possibly even earlier, I'll tell you guys how much I like it :) Oh, the powers of the internet.

Dude, just order from gamestop online (www.gamestop.com). Overnight delivery for $9.99 will have MKD at your place probably before your local store will get it and you don't have to worry about morons.

Hmm I work at Gamestop.Am I a dumbass?Certainly not.As for working at EB,never have.Yes I admit there are quite a few pricks and dipshits that work for the company, but you cannot say all of us are.I know some cool ass people working for GS.It is usually the superdorks that work there that act like they know everything. As for the dates they tell you. That is not their fault. The compnay bigwigs are the ones that send us those dates to post.I never go by those dates wink.I know better than that.It always changes up untill about a month or two before it sets in stone.
As for me being a game expert?I would not call myself a expert, but I can say I know more about games than anyone in my area that works at gamestop.Hell,my father raised me on video games. So yeah, there you have it.

I, too, work for Gamestop. Now I completely understanding that there are f'n monkeys that work for our company, there are also some pretty moronic customers as well. Not saying that that's not expected. Now as far as release dates are concerned, I on a daily basis have about 30 release dates memorized for games (cause I'm that damn good), so I do what I can. I truthfully have MK in the top 5 games I want this year and I know Oct. 4th is when it comes out (2004, for whomever wanted to be a prick). I personally study games everyday and I know what I'm talking about for the most part. I am by no means an expert but I certainly try my best to inform people. I have to say out of my entire staff at my store, 50% of us actually are truthful about our info instead of just trying to bs with people to buy stuff. On a lighter note, I read this board as frequently as I can to not only inform the customers (even though some of them are idiots) but for me to know as well. I do trust the majority of what is said here and this is the best MK source for info in my opinion. Flame me if you must but I just had to say something. I truthfully hate my company for their ignorance and lack of listening to their underlings. So yeah, have at it if you must. Oh yeah, I'm new and thanks for all the info if you're kickin' me out. So there's my two cents.

The great ones are the ones that knows what they are doing and have all the informations the customers needs about a product.
At gamestop.com, the release dates are correct so if the guy tells you that it is for November, the guy is wrong. So what? just tell him to double check the release dates because the website says it is for October. If you didn't ask him that,...well you should have.

Thanks man. By the way, anybody could work for GS. It's basically like working at a McDonald's only without the burning from the grill (I used to work at one, sadly). As a matter a fact, I guarantee we get pushed around more at GS by ignorant customers than anywhere else. And the rate of pay is horrid, so yes we could train a monkey to work at GS. By the way our company treats us, I wish we could form a union, but oh well. Furthermore, I personally I feel that GS people know more about what they're talking about because they actually care more than most stores. Most workers aren't gamers but in fact sports fanatics that couldn't care less about anyother game coming out besides possibly Halo and/or GTA. So I personally consider myself a gamer and it's basically my hobby. And in reference to EB, they get commision and what not, which must be nice. Don't get me wrong, I have some friends that work there and they certainly know what they're talking about. I don't know, I guess it depends on the area that you live in. Oh yeah, I am a manager (not store manager) so I've been through the rough of it and well this industry certainly does suck. So if you want to push us around, just remember that we're gamers too and even more so, human. Anyways, rock on with the mk, I'll be around. Can't wait till it comes out. Later.

My gamestop is just full of pricks and asslicking bastards, they are total assholes when you ask them something. I went in there the other day to buy an old ps one game that i wanted back and they stared at me like i was fucking crazy or something. Then i asked him when a game was coming out and he looked at me like,
"why the hell do i have to do that?"
They seriously need to brush up on their social skillz and be nicer to people, and learn something about games. The people that work at my place wouldn't know shit if they fell face first in it.
