I was gonna post in the stickied one but it will never get seen, so whats the point
My theory is that when the gamecube version was annouced they still had like 20% left to do, so i think that the superunlockables will end up being the gamecube exclusives!

Just a simple note, I hate GameCube.

No the GC version is delayed because they're working adding compatibility with the Donkey Kongas
0
LOL the gamecube will not have exclusive content.Your theory is ratehr moot but welcome i suppose.Think about it , the game is american made so why would they pick the GC to make exclusive content for ? and besides that if they were going to pick a console for this why not the PS2 or XBOX ? , no i think the only reason it got delayed is because DA did the worst on GC and they comtiplating wether or not to even make a GC version.
0
that is a good point, since the GC version will not have online, they get extra characters.
why do we have to suffer?
why do we have to suffer?

well if you think about it, ps2 and xbox discs (dvd) can hold 4.7 GB on a single sided dvd. gamecube can only hold 1.5 GB on a disc. when i put my MKD disc in my comp it was 4.5 GB. i would think that they are having a hard time fitting it on a single gamecube disc. and there wouldnt be any room for extras.

I'll tell you why. It was stated that the GC version will have something exclusive because it will not have online play capability. Online play is exclusive to PS2 and XBox.
http://cube.ign.com/articles/540/540717p1.html
In this article you see the following-
"A Midway spokesperson revealed to IGN that the company will add two new, exclusive features to the GCN incarnation in place of online play."

What are they going to do to make up for that controller ? its fine but not for fighting games/

Wow you guyz know nothing about Gamecube disc and programmin, just because a Disc is 1.5 instead of 4.7 doesnt mean it can fit less content, it juss means more compression and more loading times. Anyway I beleive the GC will get more characters, why cuz they did the same thing with MK: TE or the finished version of DA...ahahah Midway is always leaving shit out. but yeah it only didnt come out on the gamecube cuz Midway wanted to focus on the online systems..duh. Im not a Gamecube fan either, i have it for Ps2 but serously im pretty sure GC will get more.
Geez it's surprising that no matter how misinformed someone is, they still blatantly post their false information.
Originally, it wasn't even planned for Gamecube, but they changed their minds later. The reason it was delayed was because the MK team wanted to focus more time on online capability, which could only be applied to the PS2 and XBox. Boon, or one of those other guys that are involved with MK, said that due do Gamecube being delayed, but primarily due to the inability to play online, something else will be added to make up for it. But no one knows for sure what it is.
By the way, DA for Gamecube was one of it's top sellers at its time. Go to any store to look at a copy and you'll see it in big letters across the top, in fact, look at a copy for any system and you'll see that; that wasn't a real reason for them not to originally plan it for the Gamecube. Edit: Wow, in a span of 5 minutes someone already posted exactly what I was thinking. Just thought I'd point that out before someone yells at me for what someone else already said.

LOL dude just cause it says BEST SELLER doesnt mean it was.Do you always believe what you read ? My sources say DA did shitty on GC so we will leave it at that.
Yes, cause they just go putting titles like that on games that didn't earn them.
Oh wait, but let's all just listen to your hidden sources and let go, God forbid we actually refer to statistics or the people who are in control of that kind of stuff.
That's too logical.

my question is if mkd holds up 4.5 gb out of the 4.7 on the ps2 disc then how the hell are they gonna fit the 4.5 gb of game on a 1.5 gb disc on the game cube???? that didnt make any sense i think the disc for game cube should be able to hold allot more than 1.5 gb.

Compression,dumbed down textures,lower khz sound eefects,etc..

If MKDA did really shitty on GC then why would MKD be released for it? It may have been the lowest selling on that platform, even though I disagree, but it was enough for Midway to make MKD for it. Read the article. And how it went down was MKD was scheduled for all three systems but then cancelled for the GC. However, a Midway rep said that it was never cancelled, but just delayed.
Extra characters may be unfair for the PS2 and Xbox owners, but I guess we don't know for sure as of now. I own both GC and PS2, and im getting MKD for GC because whatever the extra features are, they'll be better than PS2 since I have no use for the online feature any how. Lastly 4.5, 1.5 space doesnt mean anything, im sure if that accounted for the storage space GC wouldn't even be able to compete in the gaming industy. Look at MKDA, X-Men Legends, Soul Calibur, and all the other games that are released for all three systems. If what people are saying is true, then does that mean that all these games are less than 1.5? Yea right, someone already explained it above.

Why should you suffer? LMAO
PS2 owners and X-box owners have the game, in their systems, right now...pounding away on the buttons, unlocking characters, unlocking moves for Shujinko, performing fatalities, playing against each other online?
What do Gamecube owners have right now? Nothing.
So I will counter with, why should they suffer?
Here's what you're BASICALLY saying "I have the game, and it might not have super unlockables...but the gamecube might, god, why do they get it and I don't."
That's selfish.
Where were you on October 4th, or 5th, or the FIRST possible date you could get your hands on MK: D? You were probably at EB games, or Gamestop, Target, Toys R Us, or whatever store you happened to purchase the game from, or pre-ordered it from. If Ed Boon came up to you that day, and said "Hey...this game MIGHT not have super-unlockables, but, you feel like waiting half a year, for us to make a gamecube game that MIGHT have unlockables, but no online play?"
No, you'd say no, you'd buy your game, and take your chances.
Gamecube owners not only have NO online compatibility...and have to wait 6 months after the initial release of the game...do you know what will happen in those 6 months? Every single secret, storylne, fatality, konquest treasure chest will have been unlocked by then. Every single ending, Noob-Smokes ending, Haviks ending, etc. will have been unlocked by then...in the meantime what does the gamecube owner get to do? Sit on his hands and wait....Good Job, way to be fair, LMAO. "WAHHHHHHHHHHH they're waiting 6 months and MIGHT have unlockables, they can't have something that I don't have"....I've seen the whining, it died down before MK: D came out, and hasn't been spoken about since...but guess what, a message to every user on here...don't bitch if the gamecube gets some good features, I repeat IF. You all got the game atleast 6 months before they did...by the time they get it, the game will be old hat to us, and been played through two times over. GODFORBID they get Rain as an SU, or Quan Chi, or Sektor, or whoever...godforbid they get SOME kind of gift for waiting 6 months, and NOT be able to play this game online, right? Way to be objective.

Wow, another GC more characters topic! This debate has been done to death, but I will still stand on my side by stating that I bet anything GC will get more characters. And I wish people with the PS2 and XBOX would just quit bitching about it. Just get over it, if GC doesn't have extra characters gloat all you want. By then GC owners won't give a crap becasue they'll have the game. We do know for sure that the GC version will hae someting more than the other two to make up for no online. So either way we'll have something you won't and vice versa, just deal with it.

so we'll start with 2867.2 mb's... (thats 2.8 * 1024)
so they rip out the area51 demo.. thats:
(126 * 1024) + 43 + 175 + 836 = 130078kb ~= 127mb
rip out the netgui, save 12mb.
kill the movies for ps2 (gamecube will either not have them or just have static images)
thats (1.5 * 1024) = 1536mb
with all of that ripped we end up with:
2867.2 - (127 + 12 + 1536) = 1192.2 for the rest of the game. Which is mostly mkda.pak in the root directory of the dvdrom. Which is about half the size of a minidvd which is what game cube uses. And naturally, they can reencode all of the videos that were on the ps2 to use a lower bit rate and down sample the sounds to save space as well.
So whats the point of all this? Windows sucks at calculating the size of media, and all it takes is some common sense and basic math dealing with base 1024 :P

Actually it has nothing to do with Window's abilty or inablity to read file sizes correctly, its the fact that the CD was finalized. Which basicly just fills up the unused parts of the disk to prevent further wrighting. grim@cloak:/dvdrom$ du -hs

Now back on subject... I think they'd at best get the DA characters from konquest or someone else from DA. I really wouldn't expect anyone new.

Umm Starting Console war or flaming a system on the forums is not allowed on the forums read the rules and stay on topic. i think the exclusive content is going to be Sareena and Sektor since either of them werent on the xbox or ps2 version as playble characters and there might be some kind of tag team mode perhaps??? time will tell.
