What if no one won or lost? What if the DK problem occured while the DA was still going strong? Here's my story on it.

Kung Lao and Shang Tsung are fighting(like in Kung Lao's ending), and while they're in battle, the Dragon King awakens and his soldiers are lively again, and they feel his presence. This breaks the hold Shinnok's Amulet has over them. Once he gets control of his army, he orders his army to attack anyone they see. The army is in the soul palace where Kung Lao and Shang Tsung are fighting, so they attack them and they bail out of there and escape successfully. Raiden sees them running from above and he goes down to find out what's wrong. Kung Lao gives him the brief and Raiden realizes the worst...the Dragon King has returned. Raiden goes to assemble all Earth warriors to deal with this new threat. And Raiden told Shang he would also teleport him away from the army, in exchange for his help in fighting the Dragon King. Both Shang Tsung and Kung Lao were against this idea, but Raiden said it's either help us or die by the army's weapons. Reluctantly, Shang agreed, but later, he would think of a plan to deceive them all. Kung Lao also agreed, and later everyone else, just because they trust Raiden. Thus starts our story of Mortal Kombat: Deception.

What do you think? I thought it was a decent enough theory... And I think this would make a good start for a fan fiction, but it would be my first, so if you see anything left out, tell me. How odd that a simple theory would change into a fan fiction...

We know that(from an interview of some sort, it is in Dave's MK MKD FAQ) DA/Deception is actually a 2-part story and now it's not like "we go home and wait for the next threat", so it got me thinking. What if during the final fight between Kung Lao and Shang Tsung, the new problem of Deception(the Dragon King) came and forced them to quit the fight?

And that's as much detail as I can go into without telling what I think will happen in the story of Deception.

I think the "inconclusive outcome" idea you had is a good one. I think Shang Tsung was killed by Kung Lao, but that doesn't mean the Deadly Alliance have lost outright yet. Quan Chi is still alive and well, now allied with the Red Dragon. Maybe Quan would join the Dragon King, or perhaps even try to kill him to get control of his army.

Can't see an Outworld sorcerer like Shang helping Earthrealm against the former Outworld ruler, the Dragon King, not to mention Kung Lao and Kitana wouldn't stand for it.

Everything else is ok, but it's short.

Good theory, man! Kung Lao won't be happy about having to leave Shang alive. Shang helping Earth is very unlikely. And something must happen along the way for the likes of Sonya to not be in MKD. And your theory would suggest that he is in the game. I hope he is.

And Shang wouldn't like it either, he's hated Earthrealm for a real long time! But it was either that or get chopped into nasty pieces by the army. I've got to make some more additions to make it less confusing...

yea it good, but wen it got to Shang Tsung helping the earth warriors, i didnt like that. Shang is evil and rayden wud look like a hypocrit if they showed him helping him.....

I like how the dragon army is attacking during the fight between Shang Tsung and Kung lao tho, i can imagine that...

He would, but Raiden is merciful and didn't just want to throw Shang to the "sharks". But as to not ruin it, I was going to have Shang Tsung create a "deceptive" plan of his own, to side with the DK while pretending to help the Earth warriors. Just wanting to bring a future twist into the story, as Ed did say there will be deceptions and plot twists in an interview.

Yea, but like its Shang Tsung! I mean, they r smart enough to KNOW that he cannot be trusted and that he wud probably do that, i mean, theres no surprise. On the other hand, if they make someone thats already on their side deceive them (ex Kenshi) that wud be more deep and more interesting, and it wud get the earth warriors more angry....cuz with Shang Tsung, they know hes all evil and its like duh, he cant be trusted. And with Shang Tsung, they wud just be like "O i new it, y did we help him" and they wud make themselves look stupid.....know wat im saying?

Yeah, I know what you're saying. Even though sometimes, characters in TV, games, etc. Aren't really all that smart(HORROR FLICK CHARACTERS), so they can be fooled into something. But maybe somehow Shang Tsung does something to earn their trust. To "prove" he's on their side for now. And then he deceives them somehow.

I understand what you're talking about. The Earth warriors are way too smart to trust Shang Tsung. But even though he's incompentent, Shang is clever at times, and he could do something to earn their trust. Not saying he actually would, just a mere fan fiction-like guess.
