Interesting list % but sadly, Cyrax isn't nearly 50% popular....Ermac, Fujin are a lot more popular then Cyrax and there's a good chance they won't make it lol. So if they're not going to, I honestly don't see Cyrax making the cut. In that case, in that robot case if anything Smoke would be leading since he's the most iconic ninja out of the cyberninjas.

actually 90% of the success of the MK franchise is given by MK movie from 1995.
and considering the perfect interpretation by Linden Ashby,his colol fight against Scorpion and Goro and the fact that he is the best character in the movie,JOhnny Cage is actually the MOST iconic character following Subby,SCorpy,Liu and Goro.
sorry,but i think that a non mk fanboy will recognize Johnny cage more easily than Kung lao which not appear in any movie,or JC is more iconic than Quan Chi for the same reason.
so yeah,JC is one of the most iconic characters.

Although the movie increased the game popularity , the game was just doing well even before the movie was released .

And yeah Cage is one of most iconic .He is in the top ten in my list :

1- Scorpion
2-Sub Zero
3-Raiden
4-Liu Kang
5-Johny Cage
6-Sonya Blade
7-3-Quan Chi : he is the best and the smartest villian in MK now .Even John Vogel said that he likes him more than Tsung and he considers him the strongest .He is actully an iconic now .
8-Shang Tsung
9-Goro
10- Shao Khan

but there is also rising stars in the MK series which will turn to be more iconic than many of those in the list ...

1- Ermac if he was given a little more chance he would surppase many .He is really a rising star .
2-Bo Rai Cho His story and his uniqe styles are enough .

Those two would enter that list if they are to appear in more MK games .

Falling stars from the list :
1- Liu Kang : this man is dead .His popularity is dying .I would like to remember his as a dead hero rather than seeing him a zombie.
2- Kano : Although he is smart and handsome as well as he is a fine commander who fought and win agaimst an army of more advanced tactics .This man has lost popularity due to how many men get involved in the clams of the dragons .

Charcters that I think they dont deserve their love :
Noob : this man must die for good .He was meant to be nothing and then the elder Sub Zero .So make him die as MK would always have one Sub .
Reptile : I dont know what makes people love a lizard .

Charcters that made a good stand but wont reach iconic level :

I actually really like Cage, he brings something different to the table that no other character has so far, which is that comic relief, "light" sort of presence that is great contrast for MK's deep, dark, and heavy atmosphere. And while he might not be the most iconic character, he IS pretty recognizable overall thanks to the sunglasses (and who can forget the nut-punch ^_^).

I wouldn't be too surprised if I saw Johnny in the next game
