A broadband connection has a modem.
It's a device with green-lights on the front
and communicates with your computer to
get high-speed internet access.
You should know if you have broadband or not.
Here is how to tell.
1. An external device connected to your computer via ethernet
cable and network interface card (NIC).
2. No tying up the phone line while on the internet.
3. Downloads are fast as hell (usually)
If you have a cable modem, or dsl modem:
connect your ethernet cable from the 'modem' to your PS2.
Your computer has nothing to do with this communication.
Then use your setup cd and use auto config setup.
Learn who your ISP (internet service provider) is.
Auto setup usually wants to know this.
Hopefully this helps.
Good luck.
