Not trying to question admins and all but why can't we share them privately or ask? What makes it okay to put images from worldscollide.com and not a magazine scan if we say where the material came from?
Like I said, not questioning authority it just doesn't seem to make sense.

Magazines have to purchase those images from Midway in order to place them in their articles. This is no different than illegally downloading a song for free rather than using a service that charges you for the content. By not purchasing the magazine or by purchasing it and spreading the images over the internet you are in fact damaging the possible sales of the magazine itself and spreading copyrighted content that was purchased from Midway.
I find it extremely offensive that users show a blatant disregard for the possible legal ramifications that this site could go through because you feel it is so dire to view a picture of Scorpion defeating Batman. Any and all users are putting themselves at risk as well as sites that are posting the scans. If the magazine wanted to do so they could seek legal recourse against anyone who has trafficked those images.
I feel that all of the moderators have posted more than enough warnings on this matter. Those who do not feel they need to listen will be banned according the degree in which they have attempted to circumvent this important rule. Whenever Midway officially releases these or any images on their official sites we can post them here.
I do not trust that this thread can continue without some users attempting to spread these images. Thread closed.

I posted this a while back and I'll repeat it here:
Being MKO is a double edged sword. The benefits are pretty substantial. DAB gets invited to all the major events and such. MKO gets exclusive interviews with Ed Boon. There's always a Fight Night with the MK Team when a new game comes out where people on this site get to ask questions. That's not something bestowed on every MK fansite.
The trade off is that Boon & Co. and Midway proper ask of MKO a certain level of professionalism. Meaning not to break "embargoes" and not to post magazine scans which can get the site into legal trouble. This isn't supposed to be an antagonistic relationship. It's not like Midway is trying to impose some kind of iron fisted rule over MKO while the staff here is always looking for a loophole. The reason MKO does get those invites, interviews, Fight Nights, etc. is because the staff has built the site into something respectable and professional enough for Midway to take notice.
Basically, the rule against magazine scans doesn't exist just to be dicks and jerk people around. It's there because there's actually a mutual respect thing going on between this site and Midway and it's because of that mutual respect that the site gets a lot of the perks. You want your magazine scans or your Fight Nights and exclusives? Take your pick.
