Does anyone have an idea of what this special move is?

It isn't a life regainer or a power up. I think it might be his reflective/projectile shield but he used to stick his chest out. I really hope it is his reflective/projectile shield.

He has this move in MK3 too. This is some kind of shield for special attacks.
