Sub Zero and Scorpion are cool, but overrated. I just don't see why so many people love these ninjas. Rain, Noob Saibot, Reptile, Smoke, Original Sub Zero, come on, these are really unoriginal characters. They are so reptitive, it makes me sick. I hope that the Midway team realizes the mistake that they made in MKT and forgets about these stupid unoriginal characters.

You must be joking, you need to realize that you just named some of the most popular characters. And the chances of Midway scrapping characters with such a large fan base, are needless to say, not very likely. Incase you have also not noticed, the MK team is trying to get away from the simple palette swaps. I mean you can barely tell that Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile were all based on the same character.

very nicely said. I couldn't have said it better myself. Come on how could you even say that subby and scorpy are unoriginal characters.

He's right though, the MK ninjas were retarded... I'd only want to see the lot of them again if they underwent some serious physical changes like with what they did with Sub, Scorpion, and Reptile.

I wouldn't mind seeing the ninjas if they had their own unique look, instead of just being another pallet swap.

Me neither, pallete swaps can be done very nicely. I have seen fake pics of what ermac or rain would look like and i must say that i wish they would bring that in the game. Give each ninja different weapons and you could be amazed.

I agree with Gasman. Each character absolutely should have their own look. This was done nicely in MK4 and MK:DA with Sub, Scorp, Reptile, and Noob (alternates from MK4).

The Ninja look worked for Reptile in MK1 and 2 but in 3 it was pointless. We all knew what he really was. Besides his MK:DA look is the best yet IMHO. Bring on the Dragon King!

If you think about it the designers of UMK3 really put zero effort in. If anything they ruined the very awesome and original urban/futuristic feel of MK3. MK3 would have been far better than what became UMK3 if they didn't have the stupid "Alities", included Scorpion, Reptile (as a Raptor), and Kitana.

Ermac, Rain, Jade, Smoke, etc.... these are non -charcaters IMHO. They were nothing but lame attempts for the creators to claim that MK3 had more "characters" then it really did. I'm really not certain how people have come to like these characters so much. They really offer the game NOTHING.

Death to pallette swaps, long live originality and creativity!

imo, scorpion and sub are the only 2 that should even appear in mk games. they were the orginals, and thats they way it should stay. seriously..how can you change 7 ninjas and make it to where they dont look alike? theres only so much you can do to a ninja uniform. the only reason the ninja characters even made it into the games was because it allowed for more characters really fast and the ninja characters were the most popular characters...so they just made more.

i hope people like rain, ermac, dont ever return. mk has enough ninjas. the pallette swaps are one of the main things that really hurt mk.

the fanbase on a character doesnt matter, obviously. they scrapped liu kang, so why wouldnt they get rid of the "ninja clones"? besides, they really do not have a large fan base. the other "ninjas" (rain, ermac, noob, smoke) fanbase done even add up to half of scorpions fanbase....

the polls dont lie.

Yes, I agree. They should also have their own fighting styles as well.

For example, Noob Saibot could have Koga-Ryu Ninjitsu while Rain could have Bujinkan Ninjitsu. And perhaps Ermac could have Taijitsu and/or Ninpo.

I think we should all kick whoever started this thread out of the forums. You don't like Scorpion? The MKT ninja costumes looked really cool, i don't know why, but i really liked how they looked.

There IS such thing as too much of a good thing. The UMK3/MKT ninja outfits were cool, but at this point in the series, and in graphic technology, pallette swaps are just stupid. The only ninjas that should be in the game are Scorpion, Sub Zero (with a different look than Scorp) and Noob, again with a unique look, and only as a secret character. I didn't include Reptile because he can't even be considered a ninja anymore.

Come to think of it, actually they SHOULD have all the ninjas in the game. Technincally speaking, only Scorpion fits the real difinition of a "ninja." By definition a ninja is a member of any of several Japanese spy warrior clans. Sub and the Lin Kuei are Chinese, and most of the other "ninjas" are from Outworld and other realms. Only Scorp is Japanese, and a member of a true ninja clan. And what would MK be without Scorpion?

He didn't say he didn't like sub and scorp... he said he thought they were overated. People started liking the two because they looked "cool". I agree I liked them in MK1 when I was little. But I still like them because they've evolved and turned out better. I can say tho that Human Smoke is the most over rated character, simply because he IS Scorpion. If he were to return... he better be totally different then scorpion.

The MK ninja's are some of the best characters. They will probably and hopefully never leave the MK story.

Thats a good point. SubZero and Scorpion are really the only popular ninjas. The other ninjas were pretty much a waste of time, except for reptile. The number of ninjas they had in MKT was insane. They should stick with SubZero,Scorpion, and Reptile, give them their own unique costumes and move sets. The costumes in MKDA were pretty good. They should keep those costumes and maybe modify them a little bit. But if you have to many ninjas it basically kills the game. If they stick with Subzero and Scorpion as their ninjas, that leaves more room for new characters to be created, that arent ninjas. Thats my story and im stickin to it.
