But back on topic. I feel that the fatalities are becoming less original each time we see one i like what they have but i know Midway cand o better and htey know it too. First off we have been seeing alll of these arm cut off/leg amutated fatalities.
For example:
Ashra= nice and original but she is basically doing another rip just with voodoo.
Scorpion= nice that he is using his spear but all he is doing is ripping off the opponents arm and legs.
Ermac or Hotaru= slams his opponent once again and the last one he bursts into pieces.
So basically you get at what i mean. I KNOW i know that they don't have all the space on the disc in the world but they could focus on the fatalities moree and cut down the realisticness of lets say chess kombat. Since Midway has so much potential I think a little more effort can be used.
Examplez of improved fatalities
For Ashra she could probobly use her torpedo spin and go through you lik a fish through water a few timez and then pull something off with the kriss.
Scorpion could do something such as opening up a portal to hellw hile raising his hands and all these corpses arise and you see their handz coming from the gorund pulling the opponent in and you see Scorpion engulf them with fire when they are deep enough in the pit. Orr somehting like that.
For Nightwolf he could throw both axes at the opponent one in their head and one in the torso and then he calls qolves to finish off the body. Orr somehting like that.
So basically I am saying that htey could be more creative. And that is basically what I am trying to say I hope I have made a clear point and hopefully these goals will be achieved by MK7. But i can accept what we are getting I have no complaints just use a little more creativity and keep up the good work!!!

the whole point is that the character kills his opponent, not someone else
and all those ideas are original...but it's too many graphics and somehow unbelievable..

I thought until I saw this post that I was the only one that felt the fatalities were kinda weak,its a good thing they are just a small part of the whole package...maybe they could just download some-*stops himself suddenly,hangs head down sadly* Wait!...Ed said that there wasnt going to be any down loadable content till the next installment...ok,ok how about this...maybe they should create the fatalities,then let the MK hardcore vote on which ones are the best or most creative ...or let us send in some ideas on the fatalities...or let us do just a few of them ,and they can scew up the rest ,I dont know!....somthing,somthing need to change,cause I fear we all are going to be dissapointed with the rest of the batch for the second game in a row....and I BET not even smell a hint of anything sounding like a Quan Chi neck stretch!!!

it seems like alot of the fatalities are end the same way. the way that i see it is that the outcome or aftermath is the same, but the creativity lies in how the character gets to take point.
ok ermac and houtro's fatalities both end the same way, think of it as a location they they are trying to get to, so ermac takes the way of telekentics to get there, while houtaro uses his brute strenght.
al long as there are no neck strechs or MK3 fatalies i am happy

itz lik every1 finishez the big race at the same time but they all had diffrent wayz to get there they all didnt choose the same path.

You're right. Some fatalities made me go like, "WTF??!!" I mean like on Ashra's "magical-melting-desinigrating-fall apart-thingy" fatality just was god-awful. And Kira's whole "slitting-the-throat-and-kicking-the-body-with-the-arms-mysteriously-flying-off-with-it" was like, another terrible one. And Sindel's "scream" fatality! The limbs just fly off! I mean, they could at least explode like they did in Kitana's "kiss of death", minus all the "popcorn" body parts. And Nightwolf is just severing the opponent's head in BOTH fatalities! And don't get me started on Bo Rai Cho's! Lol. I mean the oppponent just falls while on fire! That's it! No running or ashes or crispy-ness!
But I REALLY liked Mileena's "head bite" though... SSSWWWEEEETTT!!! And Jade's "olympic-javelin" one was just beautiful. I realize this isn't supposed to be realistic, but seriously. At least make all the fatalities look nice and original!

Okay, so during the development of MK:D, the team boasted about the new and improved dismemberment system that would be used in the fatalities. And it does look pretty nice. I love the fact that when parts come off bodies, there are actually bloody stumps rather than the polygon-less voids of MK4. But they are over-using the dismemberment system BIG-TIME. It seems like in every fatality, arms and legs are falling off for no good reason at all. Meanwhile, there are several fire fatalities, none of which feature a remotely realistic burning effect, and truly imaginative finishers like Jade's staff-through-the-head are few and far between. I know they had to come up with a lot of death moves for this game, but it seems like most of them were brain-farted out in about 30 seconds. You would think that since the fatalities are the game's biggest selling point, they would spend more time to think them out. I've come up with numerous fatality ideas that would be better than the ones in the game, and it didn't even take me very long.

Okay, quick theory that I just made after watching the Ashrah and Kira bios at IGN.
After watching the four fatalities, I think that the fatalities were OLDER versions of the fatalities. Way back when in May perhaps. How did I get this? Well, during Kira's fatality, Ermac screams in the exact same way as Kobra, and we've confirmed each character has their own voice. So why would Ermac sound completely different (Since he sounds like 4 people talking at once...)
Now I'm not completely sure, but those fatalities did look a little unfinished. I'm sure they were older versions, and the newer ones will be 10 times better.

I will agree that there are a lot of legs and arms flying and with each new fatality that does that, it makes the others even less original. However, MK has always had redundancy in Fatalities. MK1 (Love the game) had only 7 Fatalities. 2 of which lit the opponent on fire and 3 of which ended with some form of decapitation.
Then other than a few unique ones... most MK2 Fatalities can be broken down into Decapitation, Explosion, or something happening to the torso.
Here are the decapitations that have the exact same death animation
Kung Lao - Hat throw
Cage - Uppercut
Reptile - Tongue
Kitana - Fan
Jax - Clap
Baraka - Blade
Then there were the ones where only the lower half of the body remaining.
Liu Kang- Dragon Bite
Cage - Torso Rip
Reptile - Invisible something?
Sub- Ice Grenade
Shang- Kintaro punch
Scorpion- Rope Slice
Then the exploding ones
Shang - Inner ear
Kitana - Kiss of Death
Raiden - Uppercut
Raiden - Electricution
Sub- Deep Freeze
Then there are the ones that show no physical wounds.
Liu Kang- Uppercut
Mileena- Stabs
There were only a few that were used unique death animations
Kung Lao - Split
Jax - Arm rip
Shang - Soul Steal
Baraka - Impale
Scorpion - Toasty

I loved almost every Fatality from MK1 and 2 and although the Fatalities ended basically the same, the way they were executed made them feel unique. There are some in MKD that I like, some I don't and I see the concern but in all honesty it's not like every Fatality in the past was unique. I would like to see so OTHER types of Fatalities though and like some of you have said, it would be nice to see a burnt skeleton after being lit on fire.
And like many have commented, as long as there are no neck stretchers or over the top cartoony MK3 Fatalities, all is well.
I MUST say though... to MIDWAY's credit, I'm quite pleased with the camera. The angles compliment the scenes very well and zoom in/ out, pan, and tilt at key moments which really helps. MKDA cameras really didn't do that. It felt more like a few random shots instead of being specially placed at certain angles.

I agree with fats being the same... but It's kind of hard to come up with brand new concepts like a kiss of death was back in MK1/2, or a head eating reptile, or even a beutifull woman who is actually a monster and eats u all up... especially after so many games with so many characters....

i don't feel like reading all the posts, but i like your scorpion idea kodypowell. and seriously, what's up with everybody exploding to pieces when they get killed? it seems so cartoonish. but i don't really wanna complain cuz the fatalities are just extras, it's rare that a fighting game has bloody finishing moves. so no matter how bad they are, it's still better than not having them.

Stabbing/Piercing
Burning, whis includes both fire and acid
Freezing

And then there are various combinations and permutations of the above. so having to spread this out over 72 times, you gotta expect some repetition. On the other hand, their team has increased in size incredibly. They have many more minds at work on this problem than before, so they should be able to come up with something good.
Really it doesn't matter how someone dies, but more how much they emphasize how painful it was.
Personally, I'd like to see a death trap where someone gets sucked into a tube or grabbed by a steel arm and launched a mile towards the horizon.
