Yeah, it's clear that Liu Kang more or less is Bruce Lee. He is always the hero, and he always kicks the most ass, not that I prefer playing as him, but he just always wins the tournament. He even looks like him...kind of.

Well since MKDA and MKD have used traditional weapons, I'm not sure his dragon sword would fit in MKD. It's a fantasy weapon.

No, in fact he's very simple: Johnny Cage and Bruce Lee are 2 cinema martial arts stars, and Cage uses the fighting styles (Jeet Kune Do and Nunchakus) that Bruce Lee used in his films.

But Cage isn't based on Bruce Lee. He's based on Jean Claude Van Damme.

yeah but Cage has only been like that since DA.

If you watch the opening video in DA, where Kang is fighting Tsung, he has the same fighting stance as Bruce Lee (Jeet Kune do I'd Imagine)

Liu Kang has been a copy much longer than Cage has
