Looking into the forseeable future - will anything from either MK:Deception or MK:Shaolin Monks affect the other game?
In other words, if Shaolin Monks notices a game save from MK:Deception - could there be a hidden bonus for MK:Deception owners within the MK:Shaolin Monks game?
Also, vice versa, if you complete MK:Shaolin Monks with, say, Kung Lao - is it possible that he will then be unlocked or unlockable the next time you play MK:Deception?

It seems to me like this would be a big possibility - and possibly a missed opportunity for Boon and his crew if they didn't think of doing something like this.
There's something in marketing called "cross-promotion" and the release of two games related to each other, and both filling in missing elements that the other one seems to lack, appears like it would be ideal vehicle for it.
A great way of breathing new life into MK:Deception almost a year after it's out (and possibly a way of selling a "Greatest Hits" version, which is pretty much inevitable). Publicity alone will be enough to get MK:Deception fans to buy MK:Shaolin Monks just so they can have the "complete game".
It's not hard to notice how many iconic characters are missing from Deception, so it makes the possibility even more likely that they will show up during the MKII timeframe within MK:SM, and then appear in MK:D after specific events are triggered.
