Online Disconnection Rant

I know this has been covered elsewhere, but I just want to rant about people who disconnect when they lose an online match.
One of the real reasons I was looking forward to MKD was the chance to play people online, and have a real challenge.
But I was playing last night, and beat someone. I was just starting the fatality, when they disconnected! And it was a little too coincidental to blame on an 'ISP glitch'.
When I play, I play for fun, not for stats (it's pointless to play for rank, anyway, when others have already figured out how to artifically boost their personal rank). I've been beaten plenty already, and I'll be beaten plenty more. But that's just part of the game. Only one person can win.
So, my point is this: all those people who disconnect because they lose, stop it. You know who you are. And so do the rest of us. You're just ruining a great gaming experience. If you can't stand to lose, don't play.

I tend to agree, the purpose of this game is to have fun, as is any other game. But what is being forgotten is how most individuals react to losing... poorly.
I feel that there need to be some "guilds" or "clans", so to speak, put together in this community, of people who just want to throw down, and have a good laugh at a few over the top blood spurts.
I used to participate in such events/groups with clans from Quake 2 a long time ago, and it seems feasible to fit this logic here, as well.
So, should clans be created? This would ultimately fix the issue, outside of general play naturally, depending on selection of groups/individuals that belong to them.

Is your name Egon online? I think we played tonight. I'm TheTiger. I can't remember if it happened during one of our matches (If you're not Egon disregard that) but a couple of times, not many, I got a message that said connection inadequate and the match just ends. Are you sure that's not what's happening rather than people disconnecting? Do you get a different message when someone disconnects?

I don't understand--what is the way they are 'artificially' increasing their ranks?

People are playign MK:D with friends, or even have two copies themselves with two ps2's, and just allows the other person to kick their ass to increase their rank, on a name that they don't care about.
Ranks are meaningless.

TTT,
Yup, my screen name's Egon. If there was online connection problems on Friday, I didn't see them on my end. So far, I've only had one disconnect during any of the matches I've played, and I know it wasn't this past Friday.
However, if you did see a connection error during our matches, and I didn't, it makes me wonder how the servers actually handle disconnect issues.

Exactly. If for example I'm having lag and I get a message saying that the connection is inadequate and it kicks me, does the other guy get the same message or does he get a message that I disconnected? Because then it's going to seem like people are pulling the plug when in reality they're not.

My stats hadn't updated for like 4 days now. I've played well over 100 matches by now, and it still says i'm like 29/15. Even so, I apologize to whoever I was playing against yesterday.
PS2 Name is Zynth
You were playing kobra, schooled my ass, and my apartment lost power, heh.
Was NOT intentional.
But I did get a disconnect for it, even though my record hasn't updated for almost a week now... sheesh. Talk about picky.
