Online Observer Mode

posted08/06/2004 03:01 PM (UTC)byAnyone know or thinks this feature will be in? Dead or Alive Ultimate is going to allow 8 people per game, 2 playing at once and 6 observers. The observers can obviously see the action and give comments.
However, because there are 8 people watching/playing in a single game, there are many modes that open up. There are many modes that will either cycle the loser in for a new player (like simulating an arcade line), survival mode where one person is chosen and tested how many of the other players he can last through, and more importantly, a tournament bracket mode.
Of course just being to observe is a merit in itself; either to see how better players play, to see a player prove himself over another, etc.
So, anyone heard of observers?

Thanks guys, I recall the video on gamespot where Ed Boon said there wouldn't be any tournament mode (the source). Do you still think there will be observers/spectators though?

I was just asking, yes damn me for not seeing a particular video. And the Kerry comment is really unnecessary.

Well, so is your political sig on a fighting game forum.

Incase you aren't aware, several other users have political signatures. Including the owner of this site, Scott Howell, he has a link to Bush's campaign site.
It really is none of your business. I did nothing to insult you, why did you see fit to start this with me. I swear some people are so damned immature it is unreal.

So I'm immature because I made a comment in response to your opinion which you wear as a badge every time you post? So, it's immature for me to voice my opinion? You weren't putting it there to receive any comments? Aren't liberals down with the Bill of Rights? Freedom of Speech?
Anyway, about Online Observer Mode, it would be a great idea, but it is not happeing this time. It really should though, if & when MK becomes a game worth watching someone fight in.

Well, first of all you could have used at least a psuedo-intellectual argument, but all you did was call him an idiot. And it was OFF TOPIC, save that shit for the General Discussion. The only reason for a comment like that was to harass me and you know it.
And then you implied it was somehow wrong to have a political signature on these forums, when it really isn't your concern.

I find it lame, obnoxious & I'd rather someone have a sig about MK. That's my opinion. It is my concern because it's in my face every time you post.

I will be clear in my response: DEAL WITH IT.
You are the one who seems to have a problem with other's expressing their opinions(i.e. my right to express mine in my sig), several other members have political sigs, some for Kerry some for Bush, including the owner of this site. Why don't you tell him he needs to have an MK sig and see what happens.
Face it: You just ran your big mouth when you shouldn't have.

Stamp out my opinion, because it contradicts yours in a discussion we wouldn't be having if you didn't have that sig. It's my opinion; it's not invalid & I've tried to get back on topic, but you can't let it go.
The site owner can do what he wants. If he has it, that's fine. You have it, too. But, I don't have to like it or like John Kerry. Just like I don't have to like a Tanya sig, because she, too, has no personality, business sense, and there's nothing noteworthy to say about her in the past 20 years of her life's work to make her worth championing.
End of discussion.

Don't even get into noteworthy and qualifications. John Kerry served in the Vietnam war, and has been in the United States Senate for over 20 years. Bush had a C average in college, was in the freaking air national guard, most of his business ventures failed, and I'm a Texan so let me tell you a little secret, the Governorship here is a ceremonial post, the Lt.Gov runs the state. Bush is VERY underqualified.
I have no problems with your opinion or you not liking Kerry that is your right. What pisses me off is you brought it up in an unrelevant thread, and told ME what I should or shouldn't have in MY signature.

I would love to see an online observer mode. And you too should read the posting rules, Talk of religon, race, sex, politics, are subject to be closed. I am really surprised that it has not been closed by now. You two should continue your fight about this in the general topic threads. Laters Butters

Now I see why we can't have religious threads. Politics are this bad, I can only imagine what happens when religion is involved. Sorry BigMama, but you're acting like an ass here.
Anyway, what's with the "when MK becomes a fighting game worth watching?" Why wouldn't it be? The Online Observer is a great feature. I think you're just looking to troll this evening.

A rotation in fighting would also be good, it allows a group to play together, even though it still is only 1v1, you get a fresh opponent (in a sense) if you win and generally it just allows for a bigger character selection (due to more players bringing their expertise).
Hell, I wouldn't be able to play the games I play at my University's arcade like Guilty Gear XX if I didn't have any rotation going on to mix the variety, since many of those games require an extremely high amount of work and practice to play only one character, all of us generally get known for player 1-3 characters and labelled as such. Which I don't mind because I know that my best is Baiken. Of course if they stick with the MKDA stuff, it is simplistic so I suppose it won't matter as much.
Anyways, I don't want the observer mode so much as to learn since well I'll leave my opinions of the game system out of this topic, but I would like to have it so that we can still do certain things. For example, if you have an observer mode, you can continuously invite/spectate and simulate tournament brackets. With observer mode, you can also check the validity of how someone claims they are better than another player as well, otherwise if the game only allows 1v1, that means you will always have to trust someone's word. And online in a game, that doesn't amount up to much.
