Do you think that can happen in mk6? Most likely with shang tsung? I was playing mk3 for ps1 (on ps2) and shang tsung did a flawless uniterrupted transformation against me!(It was sindel)
I personally think it would be cool to play against a character that keeps shapeshifting in 3d. Any thoughts?

I always thought they couldnt transform because of disk, nothing about 3d . The problem was disk load time. Thats what I thought anyways. I already new there were problems with transforming though mister satan, but sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that believes in transformations for the next game, and that it is an easy possebility if you work hard at it.

Actually, the game will stop for about 10 seconds and then a transformation takes place in MK Trilogy.
However in mk3, shang tsung can transform flawleslly. Did anyone else notice that?

MK3 is 2d though. OK i've had a bash at programming and modelling (NOT professionally mind)- so here's some speculation:
Much of the load time for fighting games is for loading the characters- lots of polygons. I think it would be possible to have a system where the various 3d models of the characters had the same basic structure (they're all humanoid), with points stretched here and there to make them look different, and some extra bits added (like cloaks, hats etc that would be fairly unique). THis way the 3d models could morph (and the textures could blend from one to another), and the only stuff that would get loaded each time would be the texture and extra bits. If you could only morph into one at a time, and which was next was predetermined, and there was a minimum wait betwwen changes, the computer could load the next change and have it ready so you could transform quicker than it could load- and you wouldn't have to keep all the players' data in memory at 1 time.
The downside that making the characters from the same basic mesh means you can't optimise each that much (esp wierd creatures like reptile...) If you look at the create mode in smackdown you can see that the characters you make all have the same mesh, you just move the vertices around, The results are not as good as the custom models.
In short- you could do it, but it would take quite a bit of effort to do, and would probably mean some compromise in the character design. Don't expect it.

When u say Shang morphed into Sindel, were u also playing as Sindel?? If he morphs into the person u r using, then there is no load time, as obviously that person is already loaded. If u were not Sindel, yet he managed to morph into her with no stopping, that is something. Usually my MKT freezes for about 10-15 seconds per morph.

Aaah, yes, I did choose sindel. That must be the reason why. It baffled me when he transformed flawlessly on disk. No wonder sindel was already loaded. Thanks blade-tsung.
