With 100 completed surveys, I have tallied the answers for the Mortal Kombat: Deception Online Poll. Please allow a 3% margin of error for these results (due to inconsistently and/or foolishly answered questions).

While the results are hardly surprising (due to the PS2's larger user base), they should still be helpful to those who are determining which online format to purchase. Many thanks to all who added their input to this Mortal Kombat Online poll!

that's pretty good and about right considering the user bases of both. LOL 8% dial-up. 1) nobody will play you if you're on dial-up. 2) you won't even want to play on dial-up. if you can't get broadband, just play the computer. 56k in a fighting game is worthless.

indeed playing a fighting game on 56k speed is just not going to cut it not mention the lag. broadband is they way to go and dont have to worry about getting disconnted in the middle of the match if you were to use 56k. anyone who thinks about playing a fighting game on 56k better think twice about it.

Thank God for Xbox live which only Allows Broadband.
I wouldn't be able to take the lag on the PS 2 online because of someone who still has dial-up.

Awesome Mobster. Thanks for posting those results. 32% are going to use Xbox live. Thats interesting. I have Xbox live and I can't wait to kick some online MK Deception butt!

errrrrrrrrrrrrr, I am waiting for COX commucations to come down to GA so I can get Broadband. Or I wish that the price of Broadband would go down a few more dollars a month -_-

Just a note: Mortal Kombat Deception will be broadband only wether you are playing on PS2 or XBOX. Alot of people think with PS2 you have a choice. You kind of do, but it depends on the game. For instance, Need for Speed: Underground supports broadband only. Where as SSX 3 supports broadband and 56k. I'm pretty sure MK:D will only support broadband because of the bandwidth issues when playing a game with such speed and timing.

If they have dial up and you have broadband, you will kick their ass, it will not lag on your setup, but it will on theirs.

And remember people, this is just a polling of people who came to this site.
Imagine the numbers when the game actually comes out.
I am actually considering buying MK:D for BOTH systems...

Yea and plus the people who don't come on to MK Online.. the ones who barely even know of Deceptions existance.
Expect to see way more than that obviously when the game is released.

I wonder if there will be a win/loss record tagged on every user. Perhaps there can even be a website which people can go to look up which MKD player is the #1 online player in the world!
Perhaps that win/loss record would include many in-game stats about that player's game, when not played online.
A few stats:
Character usage
Wins and losses (online)
Wins and losses (against the console)
Times the game has been beat
Percentage of Krypt unlocked
Characters unlocked
Create-a-character status
Fatality Specialist? - New feature!? Do they enjoy finishers!?
--
They could pour a lot of info into this hot little item. I think it'd be neat to check out several online users stats. Not just with your console hook up, but, on the internet with a web browser.
*I own a PS2 and a GameCube. In my opinion, the PS2 is the best console out right now. Therefore, I played MKDA on PS2, and will be playing MKD on PS2. I will not be playing MKD online because I do not have the hook up. I am somewhat interested in playing online, but, would rather see Full-Motion Video character endings in MKD, as well as realistic internal organs during fatalities!

IF MIDWAY is SMART, they will make online play FREE for Mortal Kombat Deception....

I don't beleive that Boon is so stupid as to make MKD pay as you play online. He has to know that would piss alot of MK fans off.But on the other hand this is a money matter and greed can make people do stupid things.
From what Iam hearing that online play for the PS2 w/only be broadband. I know that the XBOX version will look and play better but I like the PS2 contoller alot better. If the PS2 version is both I'll go w/XBOX LIVE.

Xbox Live you have to pay for (unless you have xbconnect). Xbox does not allow dial-up.
ps2 is free and why there is so much more on their network.
I have xbox and will probably sign up for live soon.
