Positive Opinions on Deception & the State of MK
Looking through this forum, many of the threads are about things wrong with Deception, and the game hasn't even been released yet. Constant complaining about graphics, the fighting engine, the line-up, character appearances...
If you do not compare MK to any games but itself, I believe that it has made tremendous strides. Certainly, there is much that can be improved upon, but things like a new engine, weapon combat, destructive environments, and online play are all new and progressive for the series (taking games from MK4-MKD into account).
If you agree with me, please post your positive comments here. If not, your opinion is noted and respected, but please do not comment here, as there are plenty of other threads in which to do so.

Well, I don't see anything wrong with constructive criticism, but I do see lot of users ranting off on things when they clearly have no idea what they are talking about. There are a lot of people on this forum who attack MKD, but can't substantiate their argument whatsoever.
But even I criticize. Although unlike a lot of people, I can actually support and defend my arguments, instead of just saying it's "gHeY." But it's very apparent that the MK team has been listening to us since the release of MKDA. The cast of characters reflects that.

I'm digging how it's kinda going old school with the aura that seams to be surrounding it. A little darker, classic characters, emphasis on fats. Isn't there supposed to be a character customization thing, too? Like in VF:Evo. I absolutely love the environment design, too.
I've got my views of MK, especially the new breed, as far as being a fighter goes
. I agree with Temp, though. Some peeps spit slander and don't know WTF they're talking about, no matter what it is they're spitting; good, bad, retarded.. Besides, a lot of the MK vets have been playing since some peeps were still sucking on their mothers tities. I'm sure those vets are going to give a shit about what the other thinks as far as "what's MK," what's good for MK, etc.

You don't have to compare a game to judge it. You can simply judge it by what if offers to you.
Also while I like people pointing out things that could be improved, some people are just being picky or just bashing it to no ends when nothing will make them happy I think.
MKD is coming along very nicely. The roster, stages, fatalities and the whole darker feel of MKD is what the fans wanted. Ed Boon has listend since MKDA came out and we are getting one hell of a game imo.

Exactly! It's usually the long-time veterans that want to preserve the magic MK has had all these years. Yet these noobs keep complaining that it's not an imitation of all the modern day fighters.
I truly believe that if some of these noobs had it their way, MK would be a full-blown Tekken clone. I've been playing this game before some of these guys were even born, and I sure as hell don't need them to tell me what what MK "needs." Mortal Kombat has held it's own ground for being unique, beautfiul, and arcane all at the same time, in both story and gameplay. Anyone who wants to change that can go play some overrated fighter game on the shelves. God knows there's enough of them.

Yeah, Siduu, of course. However, there's a difference between constructively stating that which is negative, and not being objecitve enough nor' tactfull - me talking about tactfullness, heh - enough to state a thought out opinion. When you blindly raise hell you only hurt your stance on a particular subject matter. I think that's the point behind this thread, "positive" opinions. You can raise hell, if you've thought out the ideals behind the action. Rebel with out a cuase =
. Rebel with a cause =

I like the style of the graphics and the over all character design. I also like what I have seen from the Fatality department. The death traps are a neat idea and I'm curious to see for myself just how they will effect each battle. The chess mode has really caught my interest as well. And lastly but certainly not least, I am really pumped up for the story. I want to know what happens. This is the only fighting game that I have ever wanted to see what happens with the story.
Great (and intelligent) comments from everyone so far... JadeDragon, I too am interested in the story. VF's story is a bit boring and takes a backseat to the gameplay... SB/SC's story is fair, but not that special IMO... Tekken's story has too many holes and cliches
But as I stated before, if we were to compare Deception to past MKs only, this is still the best story IMO... most likely because Deadly Alliance introduced the Dragon King and dropped off, leaving fans anticipating what happens next.

I like the way decption is giving characters who have only appeared in one game another chance. I also like the darker look and feel to deception. I also like the addition of mini games like the chess and puzzle kombat and the role playing aspect of Konquest.

I've been gone for a while from this forum, but i find this thread kinda refreshing. :)
Anyway, when i played Deadly Alliance i was happy, it was an excellent step forward for Mortal Kombat, to which i was afraid had died, Mortal Kombat IS a classic, it's like Unreal, Duke Nukem, Doom or Quake i suppose, that kind of era, maybe older. I had some reservations on MK:DA, it was a great game but it lacked something in some places.
When i first heard about Deception i had a bad feeling it would be the same game with more characters....... now i've come back and discovered just how much is involved, the mini games? Everything, this game, to me seems like the truest t ribute to the rest of the series, ofcourse the proof is in the playing.
May i also say, my all time favourite MK characters were Scorpion, (I know it's not fashionable to like scorpion, but i've been playing since the beginning when my brother and I used to fight SubVScorp duels for hours)baraka, Nightwolf and Rain! they're kind of a wierd selection of characters to like best, and i thought they were all dead, excepting scorpion, now i see they're back from the grave. I coudl not be much happier, just for that reason! :)

With the coming of Mortal Kombat: Deception, Boon and the MK makers at Midway heard our complaints about Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and, to their credit, addressed them. And that maybe just about it. From what I've heard, the game plays just about the same (with the exception of multi-tiered arenas and death traps - and these as-of-yet unseen "combo breakers") I know a lot of people will have a problem with that - personally I don't. I enjoyed MKDA - it just didn't have all the "guts" that we MK fans have been used to. Mortal Kombat: Deception has put the guts back in Mortal Kombat. And that's a good thing.

I'm in the same boat as you. I grew up with MK1 when it was in the arcades and ever since have been a fan of the MK series. I agree with you on that whole post cause I know for sure the noobs would ruin the MK series and make it just another 3-D fighter like the rest. MK imo is the most unique fighter ever because of the overall feel and theme it has going for it since day one.
Thank god for us MK vets.

the state of mk:d right now is really good. although it might not contain the elements that some people want and the characters included, it is still (from the looks of it) looking and sounding way better than the past mk games. this 6th installment of the game (in my opinion) perfectly fits its name sake (mortal kombat) and also very well fits the subtitle (deception). in my point of view, every character except for sub-zero, bo'rai cho, and maybe scorpion seems to be on the evil sides this time around, hense the sub-name "deception".

I hate those noobs who waltz in and complain nonstop about MK, the kind of people who spend all day in their basement, playing VF or Tekken, analyzing every freaking thing they do, and not give a crap about the story. Everything about MK is unique, the characters, the stages, the story, etc. And those noobs want to suck all that out, just so MK can hang with the rest of the other fighting games. "We're trying to make it better!" they whine, well, I got a message for you people, MK...IS...NOT...VIRTUA...FIGHTER!!!!!!!! It isn't a fighting game full of gameplay depth, it isn't a game with no soul whatsoever, it isn't a game that convinces people that every game should be like this. I'm all for pointing out problems, and saying how they could be fixed, but all this bs that these noobs spit out about it sucking balls and will never be as good as Tekken or VF can go hang!

Actually, most characters are going to be good it seems. Kenshi, Ermac, Sindel, the list goes on.

Oh yeah, online will be hardcore that's for sure. Owning peeps with broke ass cheese online will be choice...proving that the engine seriously needs to be re-worked.
Honestly, online will do the comunity so much good, IMO. Mybe not so much for pure arcade fighters; but MK, you better believe it.

I respect the part about not saying bad parts in this thread, but can you keep it to the subject title please, it's slowly turning into a bash other fighters thread, there's nothing wrong with Tekken, VF or Soul Calibur, just as there's nothing wrong with Mortal Kombat.
