This peice of news has confused alot of us, including me. But I was thinking of this bit:
"Functions much like a tag-team character for some devestating fighting action."
That make's them sound individual again, so I was thinking that when you change 'fighting style' it actually changes from Noob Saibot, to Smoke and vise versa. 2 different character's instead of 2 different style's.
I know in screen's it show's picture's of Noob and Smoke with fighting styles shown at the bottom of the screen, but this obviously could of been changed by now.
Just an idea, let me know what you think.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
When you are playing with them, you change fighting styles and it changes the person you are fighting with. That would make for great special moves and combo abilities. It would be great to start a combo off with smoke and then change styles and you change into noob and continue the combo.
Oh yea, Fatalities as well

I imagine that when you change styles one will literly run off or jump wawy then the next runs in/jumps in.This would be fast enough to equal the change of style of the other characters.
Alternatively, they somehow got fused on a molecular level, like in "The Fly" .If this is the case the character will morph between Noob and Smoke.

Sounds great to me, yessss I got both of my fuckin' characters back. Kinda like a Dead Or Alive 3 type thing, one character can jump in if you press the black button. Maybe.

This is not a bad idea. Also I think if this noob smoke stuff is true kinda suck unless there 2 seperate characters. Maybe they'll be the sub boss because I remember when you played arcade mode in the old MK games there was a question mark maybe that idea is back that would be cool.
Sorry if this is sent more then once Idk if it sent because connection refused error!

maybe it'll be like tekken where you select noob with triangle he'll show up as smoke kinda like eddy in tekken 4but they'll have the same moves/ story. noob smoke sounds really lame as a name smoke saibot sounds much cooler. but i understand why they used noob smoke because of tobias. personally i think that john tobias broke into midway and deleted noob saibot to get back at boon for some reason and they didn't have enough time to redo the charactor so they fused him with they very early stages of smoke

I wonder if their odd gameplay........... could Noob/Smoke be the boss?
go Soob Nmoke !
go Soob Nmoke !

Obviously, the Midway people are screwed, since how they gonna do a story like that that won't be ridiculed for it.
I likes cyborg smoke a lot better.
The thing is that their stories don't intertwine at all! Smoke was a cyborg (as far as we know) & Noob was with Shao Kahn & killed Goro.

Great theory bro!
Makes sense, but it still wouldnt fit me. I want em both to be by themself.

I hope that theory is true, the thought of both characters being one is horrible. Im willing to give them 1 game to be the same character (with a damn good reason) but they better be seperated by MK7. (If indeed they are joined as one person)

I think of it as being like Kazuya and Devil from Tekken. If you're playing as both of them as your tag team, then they don't actually tag out... you just change into the other character because they technically are the same person.

Hell yeah, that would look amazing!
And thanks for the comments everyone
I think they will by some accident have become linked to each other; maybe Smoke figured out how to go into a spiritual form, and he's trying to possess Noob's body?
Maybe The dragon king combined them into one being for his own diabolical purposes.

DAMN STEVE!!!! Your theory is true read it at gamespot!!!!
Wrote by gamespots update to there hands on!!!
The latest game in the Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat: Deception, is just over a month away from release. Development is in its final stages, and the only thing left to do is to make pretty minor adjustments. Following our recent exclusive hands-on preview, we spent some more time giving a near-final version of the game a once-over, and we've come away with a few interesting details.
Here's a sample of the sort of action you can expect from MK:Deception (note the footage is from the PS2 version). Click "Stream for Free" for higher resolution.
As reported previously, the game starts you out with 12 characters to choose from and has room on the character select screen for 12 more. Some of the silhouettes for the hidden characters stand out pretty plainly. The guy with the big conical hat, for example, is almost certainly Raiden. But one of the character slots looks like it has two heads. A two-headed monster, perhaps? No, this slot most likely belongs to what will probably be one of the more interesting characters in the game: Noob-Smoke (based on the old MK games' infamous hidden characters, Smoke and Noob Saibot). Noob-Smoke is two characters in one, letting you switch between the two characters much like the other characters switch fighting styles. Style-branching combos with Noob-Smoke will let both characters get in on the action. Each also appears to have a unique set of special moves. Smoke, for example, has the teleport punch that he and Sektor shared back in Mortal Kombat 3.

You got ir right, bro! Nice one!
I still hate the idea of these two being combined! We're all going to have to live with it now. I bet this is how they would've intended Liu Kano to work too had he existed.
