One major thing Xbox Live has over PS2 Online is that the Xbox's design prohibits cheating. PS2 Online is full of cheaters and it wrecks games like Socom II. What fun is it when people are walking through walls? What if online tournaments and even some casual play get bombarded with people who don't lose any life? Has anybody thought of a way of dealing with that if there isn't a means of booting them? I'm not all that familiar with online play so maybe someone has a solution or knows more about the subject.

yeah i still wonder about the unlockables and if only one player unlocks say Raiden, will both players be able to select him or you can only pick what you got regardless of the other player.

Umm, there is no way to cheat. In xbox, you have an OS running, therefore it allows you to do "things" How in the world would someone hack ps2 online? There is nothing to hack or hack with...

It's not hacking. Gameshark can be used online with the PS2. People do it with Socom II so they can walk through walls and things. Imagine during a tournament people using infinite health codes. It's no biggie if whoever is holding the tournament can just disqualify them or something but if they can't then what? You have to start the tournament from scratch? The reason the Xbox doesn't suffer from this is because a detail in it's design prevents a Gameshark from even being made. The Xbox automatically turns itself off when the disc tray is ejected so a Gameshark can't be made for it. There's no reasonable way to store the codes in memory when you switch the Gameshark disc for the game disc.

Gameshark. The Holy Grail for Cheaters. Thus allowing them Unbelievable things.
Gameshark Allowed MK DA users to access Moloch. Imagine MK D users using the Dragon King.

It's not just GS, either. You can do some crazy shit if you know what you're doing. If it's a 1, a 0 or little particles of light moving from left to right; then it can be hacked. smile

That's so sad to me.Why must people cheat in a game when you gain nothing,no money no prize, why bother.I'm old school and there use to be a common respect in the arcades but online is full of people who will do anything to win.I play Madden alot online and guys quite all the time when they are getting their asses kicked.
Sorry about the rant guys I just hate that there seems to be no honor in gaming anymore.

The whole concept behind "cheating" realy isn't to win. Peeps cheat just to piss other peeps off, lol. I had a roomate who did this in CS, Quake and other random FPS's. He was, infact, an excellent player who competed at a high level. Though, on certain days, I would just sit back and watch him laugh as he abused clipings, aim bots, map hacks, etc. In all honesty, it is pretty funny, lol. grin

PS2 Online Cheaters need to be hunted down and get their asses kicked for REAL! I know it's just a game, but I take Online Cheating VERY seriously! If you can't play Online with pure HONESTY, then don't play at all!
Oh yeah, and all MKO members who will be playing MKD with PS2 Online, heed my warning; if I catch ANY one of you cheating online with this game, you will be exposed via these forums! In fact, ANYONE caught doing this will be exposed here, whether they are an MKO member or not, and all MKO members will be on alert for those people! I will have their PS2 Online names listed and posted on the MKD forum on one thread for all to see, and if that falls to like, the fourth page of the forum and doesn't get stickied, then I'll repost the thread, same list, with updates included if need be.

Yeah, that's the basics of what you'll see. Infinite life and combo breakers will be the big ones. Probably more outrageous effects as time progresses and more codes are found. Fatality at anytime. Things like that.
If you're playing a tournament and the cheater ruins it and they can't be kicked or disqualified by the host then what? He needs to start a new tourney? What a pain. Plus it messes things up beyond that. Even in casual play when you're playing against someone who isn't losing any life so you just unplug right? Wrong. Remember all those past discussions about how people will unplug just to avoid losing? Remember how people said that Midway found a way to fight that by counting disconnects as losses? So your record may read 200-150 when in fact half of those 150 losses were because you disconnected from or genuinely lost to cheaters. Sony doesn't care since they give designers the reigns. Unless somehow Midway has an online police force then expect to have a worse record than you should. The record thing probably isn't a big issue but to some people who are actually good but their record says otherwise may be a little irritated.

Is there any sort of user specific feedback for Ps2 Online? Xbl has a pretty nice option to where if someone was cheating or forcing lag you can report it. If enough feedback comes in on a certain gamertag, they could be banned.
Otherwise, I had no idea you could use a gameshark while playing online... That's insane, and just wrong!

why even bother cheating in a fighting game ? games like CS or Quake are understandable if a person uses a cheat although not condoned but still, cheating in a fighting game is just not right. Where's the honour in it all ?

Cheaters and cheating ruin the game, the fun, and the people.
I understand you trying to help stop cheaters, but..if users log on with different usernames..unless mk:d doesn't support it..users will enter with many different usernames..and it will be hard to track who is who..and we'll never know exactly who the cheaters would be.
