I'll play you some games, Liu. It'll depend what character you're using that I can teach you anything. I only know a few that I use. The best way to learn a character is watch DR vids on Youtube. That's the BEST source of figuring out what moves are good and which are bad, as well as some useful juggles (Though quite a few juggles you see are rather tough). Tekken is pretty situational, so you'll have to learn when and when not to do what.

Azuro has a point. To be good in Tekken you have to learn to set up a good offense. Also it's crucial that you trap your opponent against the walls (in wall stages) and set up different combinations to keep your opponent guessing. Plus it helps if you are aware of your position on the stage so you don't end up with your back against the wall. I can probably show you a few things in DRO.

I tried going into your room RSLIU last time but it didn't let me. So I'm assuming we'll lag like we do in MKA. But like Azuro said it depends on what characters you use mainly. I can only show you how to play a small number of them the best way possible as the others can show with other characters. Anyways my ID is CROOKED_halo. Hit me up some time. Also if you want even more help then you can ask Dave. He can explain to you the fighting engine better than I can in every way possible.

Couldn't have said it better about positioning. You get caught in the wrong situation, you'll end up with your back to the wall. At that point, it's somewhat like MKD in the sense you're caught in a massive mixup-fest, because at that point you're gonna have trouble moving away from the wall, but you have options to ease up the pressure that's guaranteed to be applied, for instance jabs, low parrying, wakeup attacks, etc.

As for lagging in DR, it's completely different from MKA. Me and Nakm had a funky connection in MKA, but here, it's so close to offline. Remember how I was unable to join yours and Dan's rooms sometimes? Just probably was a momentary thing.

About the lag:
O.K if you have a bad connection with someone, the game turns into 3D MK games. It starts to depend on what characters you choose.
Ex: If I'm playing NAKM and its laggy (button delay) He's Cristie, and I'm DevilJin most likely he will win because Cristie has all those crazy flips and DevilJin doesn't.
Steve, Cristie/Eddy, Asuka, and Feng Wei, (aka to some the "2 button characters") Can easily win a laggy fight.

Every character in Tekken 5: DRO have moves that are lag friendly and some that get fucked up by it. Some just have more lag friendly moves than others. Basically it's just like playing MKA where you have to adapt to the lag and play the way it sets up the fight for you and your opponent. Which is bullshit, I know, but that's online for you.

Also escaping from being cornered in a wall is easier in Tekken than it is in MKD or MKA. MKD you couldn't really do shit so once you're cornered you're pretty much dead. MKA, yeah you had the parries and a wake-up system, but the 2 and 4 wake-ups could be parried. WTF?! At least in Tekken you had low-parries, reversals, tech rolls, etc. Tools that enabled you to get out of a sticky situation from the wall with ease.

But most of the time in Tekken rolls actually fuck you up more then it does help.
ex. I'm playing Mortal (Feng of course) and he trips me, I press square right when I touch the ground (quick roll) but at the sametime he does a move as I do the roll and I end up getting spun around letting him get more and more hits.
ex2. I'm tripped then when I'm on the ground I press up (straight get up) but at the same time Mortal does a low or stomp, at that moment I can't block the stomp/low. We're talking 0% chance of blocking. Whats with that?
MKA and Tekken have their pros and cons about getting up but at least you can't get stomped while you're on the ground in MKA.
If the ground game in Tekken wasn't so strong,then I'd say hands down its better then MKA.

^^ stomps are in the wii version of MKA, performed by pressing UP+throw at sweep range. not sure how you missed that thread, its been sitting there for weeks, along with many others youve, im guessing purposely ignored?

Deviljin, sorry bro but you couldn't be more wrong.

If you want to block low as soon as you hit the ground press X, then hold low block, (down back).

This works 110% of the time.

Even moves that blow you across the screen can be immediatly woken up from by pressing either foward to spring back up, or down-back to break your fall.

This must be done AS SOON as you touch the ground.

RSLIU I know we're not on the coolest of terms but If you want to do good at Tekken you ABSOLUTLEY MUST KNOW:

#1. Wake-ups

#2. Defense

KNOWING how to defend in Tekken is crucial. And its NOT only holding back. And wake-ups can completly change the momentum of the match.

There are moves that give your opponent a free hit on the ground, but only one hit. You will learn these as you go along.

Offense will come naturally. Wake-ups will save you.
