I saw some people on these boards asking about Puzzle Kombat and I'm surprised because they didn't know how it will work yet so I'm going to make sure they do, because some people think its like Tetris and some think its like Archon and this is very misleading. Also, this mode is getting dissed by some people who don't know its more than a "mini game". This mode could be a game of its own (actually it is; see below) !!! A lot of hard work has gone into it and I know most people will love it. Anyway, here's my guide to everything Puzzle Kombat. Puzzle Kombat is a slightly different version of Super Puzzle Fighter II. (Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is my favorite puzzle game, so you have no idea how excited I am over Puzzle Kombat). So here is my first helpful and in-depth post ever. I. Rules = The object of the game is to fill up your opponent's screen with pieces so that they can't place any more. Pieces will fall onto your 12X8 screen indefinetly, but you can destroy these and send them over to your opponent's side. Your pieces fall in pairs and you can rotate these to your convenience. You can see what pair is next on the side of your half of the screen. You can also see how many pieces your opponent is sending you on the top of your board. II. Pieces = There are three types of pieces: the colored blocks (red, blue, green and yellow), the dragon koins (or whatever you want to call them; also red, blue, green and yellow) and the bomb (or whatever). The colored blocks really don't do anything except take up space. You want to destroy these. The dragon koins destroy all the colored blocks of the matching color that are connected. If the koins touch other koins of the same color, the koins are destroyed. The bomb piece (black orb) destroys all the pieces on the board of the same color it lands on including the dragon koins. However, pieces destroyed by the bomb aren't sent to your opponent's side. These are extremely helpful, and if your board is pretty full and you have buried dragon koins that aren't destroyed by the bomb piece, chances are pretty good that these will also destroy something after the bomb has landed. III. Super bar and moves = Also on the side of your half of the screen is your super bar. It can be filled by destroying colored blocks. The more you destroy, the more it fills up. Once it is full, you can perform a super move by pressing a single button. Super moves can be defensive, offensive or a little bit of both depending on how you see it. In any case, some are horribly unbalanced. Here is a list of some of the super moves that have so far been shown including what they do and what character performs them. Remember that these are not all the characters. The character select screen only shows some characters in the videos, but there are actually many more. Here is the list: Baraka : When "Edger" is performed, two blades came down and destroyed all the pieces on the edges of you board. Scorpion : "Jumble" randomly (what else) jumbles the placement all the pieces on your opponents board. After the jumbling, unused dragon koins could destroy some of the blocks, so you can get a bit unlucky with this super move, but its great to mess up your opponent's progress, especially if they had a combo set up, otherwise, not that great. Now, as you can see on the recent gamespot video, he has "Kollapse" wich eliminates the bottom 4 rows. Exactly 32 pieces, if you have that many. Extremely helpful. On the Ed Boon walkthrough video he has "Jumble", so maybe the footage off this video is kind of old, since Baraka also has his initial super move in it. Ermac : "Levitate" does the same thing as "Kollapse", except its the top 4 rows getting blown away. If the pieces' placement is uneven, don't worry because you still get 32 pieces removed, but you will end up with pieces placed the way you left them (they won't be the same though). Mileena : "Drill" is very similar to Baraka's "Edger" but instead of the edge columns, its the 2 middle ones that are the ones that get destroyed by a drill. Equally crappy. Sub-Zero : "Freeze" turns all of the blocks on your opponent's screen into ice blocks and they can't use any of them until they thaw out after a few seconds. Nightwolf : "Breaker Buster" turns the dragon koins on your opponent's screen into colored blocks. Sindel : OMG. What a cool super move this is. "Arrange" (or "Rearrange)" is shown on the Ed Boon walkthrough video and it arranges your pieces so that they are organized into vertical blocks of same colored pieces. Dragon koins are turned into colored blocks after they are arranged. If you are lucky, you can get rid of most of your board depending on the dragon koins you get after the super move is performed. Kabal : "Double Bomb" according to the character select screen. It drops 2 bombs on the columns that are next to the edges. Kenshi :"Invisible" is shown on the character select screen. I bet this turns the pieces your opponents drop, invisible for some turns and they can't event see it on the "Next" panel. But what about the computer ? Will it just drop the pieces randomly or will it make no difference ? Hmm... Jade : On the character select screen it says "Stack". I think this will be the opposite of "Kollapse" and rows of colored blocks will rise on your opponents board. How many, I'm not sure, because 4 would be kind of harsh near the end of a round. As I said, I don't have (and never downloaded) all the videos so if I missed something, I would appreciate it very much. IV. Stages and Fatalities = As you play, the funny, really cool shrunken characters on the bottom of the screen fight automatically depending on what is happening during the round. A Fatality is performed at the end of a match depending on the stage. Here is a list of what Fatalities are performed on the stages I have seen so far. Molten Press : You get squished by a press. Ying Yang Beach : A snake eats your head. Sky Temple : Lightning makes your head explode and the eyes pop out. Beetle Lair : 1 ton of metal squishes you. Slaughter House : A spiked rolling pin grinds you. Liu Kang's Tomb : Pretty strange. You get in between 2 platforms and the top one has big spikes in it while the bottom one has small ones that look like they don't really hurt you if you are standing on them. The top one goes down and your head gets stuck on the spikes then you get pressed between the 2 if I remember correctly, because I deleted the video. A special note on the Molten Press stage. On the Game Informer video where 2 Barakas battle it out, you can see some white birds (pigeons?) flying from left to right and from right to left. When they are under a press, they are squished and randomly make different bird noises when they die. Its absolutely histerical, especially the chicken noise (the others are a falcon, I think, and a simple "kaaak"). Again, I haven't seen all the videos so extra information would be appreciated. I know there is a stage where the Fatality involves something with fire, because on both sides of the screen were what I think are fire pits. I might have forgotten some stages too. I devided this post in 2 parts, so the 2nd part is in a post below.

Yeah. Puzzle Fighter is definetly a great game. IMO, Tetris can't even compete with it.
