Nothing really is known except that his fighting styles are Wing Chun, Escrima & Autumn Dao. He's got some special moves like a projectile that fires out of his foot, and a move where he slams the ground with his back, as well.
A lot of people will tell you some story about him being a ronin samurai, but this is unconfirmed. That was what his original story was going to be. He seems to be more Chinese culture based now.

In MK:DA there's a bit of information obout him in the crypt. Supposedly he was supposed to be in DA but didn't make it in due to time constraints. His plot was going to be that Shang Tsung gave him the dragon kings army to guard his palace for him. It said he was a samurai but was too bloodthirsty to bide by there code of honor.
