QueenSindel: Your stereotypes of what things are appropriate for men and for women are inappropriate. If it bothers you so much that Zi Ran Men doesn't fit your antiquated, restrictive notion of "masculinity", perhaps you can look at it this way: Rain is so confident in his masculinity that he has no problem using a "girly" looking style, because it's a highly effective style. It's also a very, very ninja-esque style, with balance and flexibility and the ability to dodge.

As for his tier, well, I don't have online play ability, so I don't know how he is online, but against my friends and (obviously) against the computer, he's unstoppable.

1. more appropriately the force coming from the sinews.

2. check her profile. That will explain everything.

Rain is a midtier somewhere, he's not the best, not the worst.Rain is far from unstoppable btw for the dude that said he is.He's however very annoying in the right hands but that can also be said about almost anyone when used right.

Example, I have an insane Fujin online via xbox live to most that have played me on there the most difficult(top one). He's a lower tier character that can be nasty.

Rain honestly, surprisingly also I only know of one player that I've faced so far on there that can use Rain REALLY well and his name is nsobo. He doesn't play anymore but he had the top Rain on xbox easily.

One of his tactics I've noticed is his teleport that's safe on most cases and then his throw. His combos also seem to come out quicker then a lot of other characters.I'm just telling you this since I have lots of experience playing online so I feel I can pitch in here with Rain as far as "how good or bad he is" Check on here can tell you exactly where he is in the teir list but he's definitely far from unstoppable.

That much I can tell you.wink

Sindel: Well, on Rain's personality, then, we just simply disagree. I see him as more of the princely pretty-boy, more like his, well, real-life counterpart, Prince.

As for Rain's Tier: Uh, okay. Good to know.

Okay wait everyone!!!! I made a mistake.

The style that I want for Rain, that I was saying would suit him best, is not Shorin Ryu. It's SHINTO Ryu. Sorry, it's just that they're spelled very alike and I didn't notice the difference when I would select Johnny in MKA or Darrius in MKD until just a while ago.

Well, yeah. That's the fighting style I would have loved for Rain, which would have suited him excellently, imo. Shinto Ryu.

What can you tell me about that style, Sub_7th? That's the one I like, not Shorin.

Well, yeah, he does look princey and all that, but his personality is far from that. In fact, he looks like someone good, but he's actually evil. Shinto would have been a fine blend for his personality's raw egotism and his appearance's handsome elegance cuz it's rough and direct, yet still very smooth-looking.

If you're suggesting that I honestly have an antiquated and restrictive notion of masculinity, you're wrong.

1) I have a couple of feminine guys (gays) who are dear friends of mine and I'm an advocate for gay rights (men and women).

2) In real life, I do not expect perfection.

3) Rain is fictional and looks charming. What? I can't desire that he move sexy to correspond with his sex appeal?

Also, if it's such a new age acceptance for men to move and act like women or vice versa, why do things like ruthless machismo, homophobes, and sexism still widely exist?

To be honest with you, I can't give you that much of a straight answer when it comes to Shinto Ryu, namely because there are several different arts that have Shinto in the name. The ones that come to my mind right now are the following:

Shinto Muso Ryu: This is a traditional Japanese art founded by Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi, who in the MK storyline is a friend of Bo' Rai Cho's and had his soul taken by Shang Tsung. Shinto Muso Ryu specializes in Jojutsu/Jodo, which is basically the methods of the Jo (short staff).

Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu: This is another traditional Japanese art and one of the oldest Japanese martial arts. It was founded by Iizasa Choisai Ienao and contains various teachings such as Heiho (military strategy and tactics), Kenjutsu (sword methods), and even Ninjutsu (espionage methods).

Shinto Ryu: There was supposedly a Ninjutsu tradition called Shinto Ryu that was one of the oldest, along with Shirai Ryu, Negishi Ryu, and Hakuun Ryu. Whether this tradition contained teachings of Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, etc. is uncertain.

Shindo Ryu: Shindo Ryu is a modern style of Karate that combines Okinawan and Japanese Karate aspects. This is probably the Shinto Ryu style that was put in MKD due to the Karate stance and moves in the game. Unfortunately, I don't have much information on this style.

It's most likely the third one you mentioned, since the name is perfect, but it might also be one of the first 2.

Can't you tell them apart by seeing the moves they have?

No, it can't be Shinto Ryu Ninjutsu as if it really did exist, it wouldn't matter as it's dead anyway. The only three Ninjutsu traditions left are Togakure Ryu, Gyokushin Ryu, and Kumogakure Ryu. But with the way things are today, Ninjutsu is no longer a focus on those schools.

It is likely Shindo Ryu, which I'm pretty sure could also be spelled Shinto Ryu, namely because of the stance (Zenkutsu Dachi), as well as the techniques. Those types of moves, save for some, are Karate techniques, definitely not Ninpo Taijutsu techniques.

But again, I'm not so fond of Rain using such a linear style. I think he should at least have a more balanced style like Hapkido, Goju Ryu, or maybe even Tang Soo Do.

I think Zi Ran men is fine with Rain.I have no probs with the style or Rain himself......Rain is actually my best characters and I don't do so bad with him.I've been told that I play him at a high-level.

Rain is more of a punisher type of character;meaning you use bait (low attacks etc.) Then wait for the right moment to strike. You use your opponents mistakes against them,But considering most of his high-damaging combos consist of AC's and lag.

Rain is fine just the way he is.Take it into consideration that he didn't at least turn out as bad as Kai.

Shinto Ryu? No thanks, I practice Drunken Fist.

But Zi Ran Men is a very shitty style. It lacks a safe mid-hitting pop-up and damage. A style that would be good would be Eagle Claw (Kitana's style in MKDA) or San Shou (Kenshi's style in MKDA).

Rain overall isn't worth the effort nor really that "great" of a character to learn him IMO unless you're a hardcore Rain fan I would recommend someone else personally.

Best thing about Rain is his teleport because it's safe most of the time.

While I cant comment on his fighting style cos i havent played MKA, I'll agree with QS about his aesthetics. He's the hottest piece of ass in MKA. Behind his mask I bet he looks like the Prince of Persia tongue

Anyway if I don't end up liking his fighting style i could always create my own version wiht a kick-ass fighting style and PoP-esque look.

I agree 100%.

The reason for why Rain is so low in the tier list,is because of his stance. Its sad really how Midway cant make a more balanced game for us to enjoy instead of having to exploit every glitch known to man in order to compete

Khameleon got Eagle Claw in the Wii version and she will easily be high mid tier if not better.

Back to topic.

Honestly,I think rain would of been better off with Frosts old stance from MKDA.wink

p.s. You should change your headline. It still says "Shorin Ryu" instead of Shinto Ryu. Just a heads up.
