A lot of people are saying that they like Kitana but are not really sure if they want her to return because of her story going a bit stale. I agree. I have always liked Kitana, but her story is going nowhere. So What do you think of this for a story revamp:

How bout this: You know how the theme of the next mk is all about deception right? Well wouldn't one of the biggest deceptions be if Kitana turned against earthrealm? Ok hear me out, what if losing both Lui and Goro makes Kitana start to think if doing the right and just thing only causes her pain and loss maybe she's fighting for the wrong side, maybe she should stop caring and see what the dark side has to offer? I think that this is just what her character needs. I fresh new point of view story line wise and also it ties into the whole deception thing perfectly. I think it would be worth it just to see her former team mates reaction to her betrayal. Remember the PSM article said the game deals with deception with more than a few characters. What do you think?

I suppose that'd be an interesting turn of events. I'm usually a little reluctant about Kitana turning evil AGAIN; but you reason for it makes sense and could work.
EDIT: I'm going to put what I said here befor ein a new topic because it deals with a lot of characters.

Maybe kitana is evil afterall since milenna was fighting baraka, that would mean that milenna is good and kitana is bad? Would be interesting.

No worries there. Evil or not, I fully believe Kitana will ALWAYS hate Mileena. Those two will never quit fighting each other. Besides being a bad guy has absolutly nothing to to with loyalty infact it's just the opposite. Just because Kitana decides to be evil doesn't mean that she and Mileena are gonna be friends. NEVER would that happen IMO. smile

Kitana is tops, but I would like her to have a new story as well .. I personally would like to see her go crazy or perhaps get possessed by someone that causes her to become evil? She wouldn't really be evil, but until they kill whoever controls the possession inside her, she does what they want.

The only thing that is different between Kitana and Mileena is that one is good and one is evil, to make Kitana evil would make them far too similar.

Well this turn of events was never meant to be anything permanant. Deep down Kitana is noble and heroic. Nothing would be able to supress those feelings in her for long. This would just be an interesting spin for one game, a not so good way that she chooses to deal with all the pain she feels over the deaths of her friend and her lover. Eventually she'd come to terms and come to her senses and make things right again.

Well maybe thats why Boon brought back Mileena and Sindel to give Kitana a better story. In MK5. She was kinda lost. Lui Kang died and also Goro, so the only thing that i thought she was trying to do is avenge lui kangs and goros death. WHich was kinda boring, we see enough of that already in many other games. But know that her twin and mother are in MK6 it will be interesting to see what happens to kitana. I hope she doesnt get killed though. Maybe she can turn evil but then her mother sindel helps her out and stuff, and she turns good again at the end of the game.

Yeah, that's what I was saying something temporary to spice her up a bit, make her interesting again. I love Kitana I don't want to see her dead or in the background.

Well if she were to return, how would you see her? What do you think could be done to fix her story and make her new?

I doubt Kitana would ever make a move like that. Kitana is now a ruler of Edenia along with Sindel. Kitana has an obligation to her people and would not gamble the outcome her Kingdom just to see what the evil side is like.

If you have ever noticed before, all of the bad guys in Mortal Kombat turn on each other. Kitana would have first hand knowledge of this sort of treachery from when she was under Shao Kahn's supervision. This is a good idea but Kitana would never do it.

Yeah but it's not like she'd exactly be think clearly. She's overwhelmed with grief. You'd be suprised what that can do to someones common sense.

i dont know about kitana being evil, that wouldnt leave much fire bewteen sindel and mileena. but i could understand if the dragon king got a hold of edenia and the only chance of her people being safe is if she temporarily turned evil to backstab the dragon king when the time is right and reclaim her thrown and realm.

Ok. That's cool too. Don't you think the DK would see through that though? I mean wouldn't he already be suspicious of her motives knowing full well that she was once a fighter for both Earth and Edenia? I think that he would have her constantly watched, like under the microscope watched. I don't know it was just an Idea. What could be some other possibel revamps for her?

I think they used MK:DA to move Kitanas story along for the next line of games.
I think the death of Liu Kang and the alliance with Goro, and then his death, were all ways for the writers to have better options of where to take Kitana.
She is now heavily involved with 3 of the main races. Edenia, and ally of Earth Realm, and ally of the Shokans. I think her new story will be intersting as it will involve all trhee of them in a way, but involve her more with the Shokans, therefore taking her along a new story.

You know I never really thought of it that way. This makes perfect sense. And it does open a lot of doors for different ways to take her. (without changing her nature! tongue) Plus it would be cool to see her uniting the Earth warriors, the Edenians and the Shokan to make a United front agaist the Dragon King and/or Baraka to stop the plan to rule all realms. Plus this idea opens the possiblilty for a new or returning Shokan (Kintaro Please!!) to be in the game as a playable character. I really am glad you brought this up. Can't believe I was so dense and didn't see it before. But I don't think that I was alone...alot of people said Kitana's story was going nowhere. But your interpretation makes it sound like she could be a key element in the destruction of the DK. Very Good. grin

I've always thought of Kitana as sort of evil deep down. I think it would make a great storyline. Maybe Kitana decides ruling isn't her best positioning, when she is bombarded by the Shokans after Goro's death, and decides to make a deal with Mileena. Mileena stands in for Kitana, while Kitana goes to the shadows. Maybe it could be her fighting Mileena.

Of course Kitana wouldn't just let Mileena run wild, she would get someone to supervise Mileena, maybe even telling Sindel?
