the more i watch that new video vs Mileena i keep on reliezing how much that doesn't work with the fans or the fact Kitana's always been the Blue Female Ninja. Mileena was fine going more towards a pinky color than a Magenta like she was originally but this is not working with Kitana even if Purple symbolizes Royalty like her mother Sindel's oufit.
I just keep tell myself this is not offical or the final game at this point.

I like Kitana in purple. I'd like her even more if she had changed looks with Mileena in DA. Those outfits look more royal. Purple suits Kitana.

Seriously.. is it that big a deal? For the record, it could just be the lighting of the stage making her costume appear a different shade, cause it doesn't look that far off from blue to begin with to me.
But why should it even matter? In the grand scheme of things how is the color of Kitana's outfit gonna affect anything? Really it's a bit nit-picky. Deal with it. She could be in teal or Orange or Brown(gross) .. but it's still Kitana.

yes it's still kitana but most of the MK characters especially the older ones have cosmetic/apperance trademarks that've been with the character since their debut.
the reason why mileena's MKD attire works so well is because the color is fairly close to her original and is also very similar to her MKG one.
kitana however just looks a little odd in purple.
i mean yeah it's supposed to be a royal color so it does actually work for her MKDA alt(though i still think the blue works better)but for her assassin look it should be blue, and i'm almost positive it will be.
and all in all she doesn't even match now and her fans look out of place.

Ok, fair enough. But Shang Tsung's Colors have always (excluding MK1) been Gold and Black. I didn't see anyone having a problem when He went for mostly red in his redesign. All I'm saying is that MK chharacters aren't (or at least shouldn't be) Defined by the colors they wear. People change their clothes all the time. *** Excluding the Cyborgs, for obvious reasons.

that is also true.
but the gold in his outfit was still there and even his alt was an updated version of his MKII clothes so they still kept a similar design to him.
not saying that kitana design is drastically different it's just odd to see her in purple constantly.
but yeah your right they shouldn't be just designed by the colors they but by the same token when you see a character for 12 years in one color and then go to a totally different one is a little bit odd.
atleast for me it is.

I agree, her color should be Blue.
In most cases colors do not matter that much, but in this case it does. All the ninjas (male/female/cyborgs) are actually very linked with their color due to their pallete swap history. Plus it goes well with her fans. wink

The color Kitana's wearing is more of an indigo anyway. Between blue and purple.

Well hopefully her alt. is changed to blue. I don't like puple Kitana because like Scorp, Rep, Mileena, Sub etc it is *her* colour. Plus, Li Mei and Mileena are already using pink/purple.

I agree. Personally, I don't give a rat's ass that she's wearing purple.

Exactly, all of the ninjas are heavily color owned. The color was the only thing that made them different appearance wise back then, so in their case the colors are very meaningful.

are we sure that it wasn't just the arena that made her look purple? if they did change her color, that is just wrong

The visual appeal of the characters is part of why I like them. Sub-Zero is blue, Scorpion yellow, Ermac red, etc. Kitana was, for the longest time, the blue female ninja and Mileena was the purple one. Kitana looks better in blue, and I'm glad her alt is still blue.
I'm okay with the occassional costume change, but, it is still part of her trademark. It would be like making Scorpion green all of a sudden. It just doesn't seem right. I always preferred the assassin Kitana anyway, with the half-mask and bodysuit, over the regal princess one we now have.

I personally don't care what color these people wear...seriously, this is a game about having horrible deaths and buckets of blood.........and we are concerned over whether or not a character is wearing purple? To me, Kitana looked like she was wearing blue, and even if she was wearing orange I wouldn't be put out. Come on guys....of all the things to complain about/discuss....is this really worth it?

Is not the visual aesthetic quality of a game just as important as its gameplay, soundtrack, and graphics? The art direction of some games alone makes them masterpieces, and I always viewed MK as having some of the better fighter designs of this generation (and a lot of really ugly ones to.) I think the design of characters can, and do, make or break the characters.

im thinking the purple is just an alternate color.
like the 2nd player color sorta thing.
ps2-wise...you press x you get blue and you press square you get purple.
maybe the people playing pressed a different button?

Well, of course it CAN, but if there is a character with an outfit that I don't like, it doesn't mean I am going to enjoy the game any less. MK isn't a game that is about aesthetic value, it is about beating the shit out of people and then killing them. 'Oh noes, someone is wearing purple, I don't like it, and now I will NEVER buy MK again!!' Please, spare me.

On the Subzero and Scorpion fight, Subzero's color is wrong. Its supposed to be more blueish then it is. It looked more aquaish on that video but I think it was just the 2P shade of it.
So what I am saying is, you could be right

Stop turning it into something it isn't. No one is saying it's going to break the game.
It's just that Kitana was always blue and she is known for that. MK also is not just about what you said. MK is about story and the characters just as much. Remember, just because that is what you consider MK about doesn't make correct.

Well they could be preparing for next gen story wise. As in Sindel may die, and Kitana would take over, thus wearing purple as it is the royal color of Edenia perhaps. But I think it would better if she just kept blue and that took over as the Queen's color, and purple just be for the knights like Rain. I hope he ascends to army general status by the end of MKA.

If you look at the Kitana Mileena rival picture Kitanas costume is diffrent color than what was shown before. The Kitana in the render could be the final prouduct. I hope so I agree that Kitana is best in blue. (see signature)

yeah i'm hoping that her mkda alt(seems to be the MKA primary) will be blue.
but for whatever reason if they decide to keep it purple, because it is the more royal of her two outfits the MKDA primary has to be blue.

i like her without the mask in blue, like in my sig... but i'm sure people like her with the mask on... it doesnt matter to me though... but it is fun to see "the blue ninja" versus "the purple ninja"... we'll see what happens
