RYU and KEN in Mortal Kombat Deception?
I used to be a Street Fighter II fan but now I'm with Mortal Kombat all the way. No, I'm not expecting these SF guys to be unlockable in MKD or even fightable but I did wonder:
Kenshi's ALT (if it's anything like the MKDA one)
Kobra
Don't these two guys look familiar? Especially Kobra? Yep they (closely) resemble RYU and KEN from the Street Fighter games! Apart from the fact that Kobra's not wearing a RED costume (maybe his ALT) he looks the spitting image of KEN.
I'm not suggesting that Midway has ripped off the SF characters, but maybe SF veterans may enjoy playing as these guys because they seem familiar even thought their moves (not sure about Kobra) are not.
Anyone else notice this?

aye especially kobra
Kenshi's Alt costume is Kenshi's primary costume in MKDA, not the white gi costume that makes him resemble ryu.
I doubt the game creators were thinking about Ken and Ryu when they created them, no other evidence... except maybe a few of Kobra's moves (which however are also Cage's moves in MK:DA), support your theory.

Oddly enough you made me realise just how much Cage is similar to Ken/Ryu in terms of moves - they all have fireballs and dragon punches for example.
Still, I never tried to speculate that the MK guys I mentioned are in any way based off the Street Fighter guys (with such a huge MK cast coincidences happen all the time), I'm just trying to be a bit different from all the other people who post 1000 threads about Sub Zero ripping off Shredder!
None of the characters are ripoffs - all the character designs (the way they are dressed eg) are nobody's exclusive property - Sub Zero & Shredder are dressed like the samurai of ancient Japan, and the Gis that Ken, Ryu, Kobra and Kenshi wear are the traditional fighting gear for many fighting styles eg Karate and Judo - and Ken & Ryu both use Shotokan Karate. Most Shotokan fighters I have seen perform also wear these costumes.
It's just my immediate impression that I posted, and I was wondering if anyone else thought the same.
Peace!

Before anyone says anything, the actual CHARACTERS are copyrighted to their owners. The specific VARIATIONS of the character costumes are also copyrighted - but just because Ryu & Ken wear a Gi doesn't mean that all Karate students who also wear one are breaking copyright.
In simpler terms, because Sub Zero wears black boots doesn't mean nobody else can also wear generic black boots!
Peace!
