Well, MK will always have the one great copout that the afterlife is just another realm you can travel to in the MK universe.

thats the ironic thing i find with this game they claim they'll be killing off all these characters in order to save reality or whatever but unless they completly cease to exist in any form they'll just go to the netherrealm and come back because the netherrealm is essentially a day camp

In the comics, Scorpion states that his soul and exsistance would be destroyed if he would die again. It would be cool if the same held true for the game.

Well, you get sent to the Prison of Souls, regardless of where you were when you died. That's what happened to Shinnok, and the reason the throne was empty for Noob to take it.

Well the ending of MK4 is Liu Kang beats him and he gets sent back to Hell somehow. Whether that's by "banishment" or death doesn't really make a difference.

its kind of weird seeing how Scorpion is the whole champion of hte gods thing but Liu Kang isn't. he and sub-zero are like the mascot of mortal kombat. i hate liu kang personally to tell you the truth, yet he's getting all the special attention which it should be scorpion seeing how he is the champion of hte gods. who knows, maybe he will get all hte attention for this game.

It said in his bio that in his MKDA endings, he was beaten by Moloch and Drahmin, thrown in the soulnado, and somehow escaped. I think this is bullshit, but whatever.
I hope that he isn't the champion of the Elder Gods, cause I'm sick and tired of hearing that he is. Scorpion should die and stay dead. He sucks, I hate him, and he is very overrated.

i agree totally and completely but that fact that he's already dead...like permenatly means that he can potentially comeback forever. most people of the netherealm can do that(even though he is technically from earthrealm)
i have no idea if moloch and drahmin actually threw him in the soulnado but somehow he got in there and either he managed to escape into the heavens or the elder gods brought him there but either way he's their champion.

Whether or not Scorpion is the Elder's champion has yet to be seen, but from the way it sounds from Ed Boon I think he'll be back regardless in post MKA games.
For me that's a good thing. Scorpion has always and will always rule.
All this talk of bad storylines and characters that "suck" and should be removed from MK makes me laugh. For me, the MK storyline for all the characters has been paper thin, if not bad for many years... over a decade really.
I think it's fairly obvious that story is not a priority to the MK team. The focus was to make a fun, brutal fighter that didn't take itself too seriously. This is still pretty much what MK is.
That's why I have to chuckle when people shit their pants over characters' stories and split hairs over who's cool and who sucks... their stories are all equally uninspired IMO.
I take MK as it is, fun and bloody. If the things I've mentioned are what's wrong with MK in your opinion, good luck... and I truly mean that.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the face of mortal kombat. none of them would die. sub zero died in MK1 and came back as his brother, and scorpion is a dead ninja but he is still in the game. i dont think scorpion will miss any MK game

See, i thought the whole MK universe (not just the characters) was going to explode or implode or somethin' (hence the name Armageddon). How Sub-Zero and Scorpion would get out of that i dunno. But that would solve the problem of other characters coming back.

To answer somones question, once you think about it,sub & scorpion are going to be in the next gen,it's elementry in my veiw(Game development veiw that is) Tell me this, My example halo,The master chief is halo as scorpion and sub-zero are mortal kombat,love them our hate them,you know it's true,if not,put some thought into it.Taking life out of a video game via scorpion & sub-zero,is what developers try like hell not to do.You take out sub & scorpion,you won't get any sales.Tell you truth it's common sence really.

Two things. Yeah, there is NO way Scorpion can die. It's been shown in DA that Scorpion comes back after he dies. Quan Chi throws him in a acid pit in DA and Scorpion comes back. Two, everybdy forgets about the Heaven in MK. There is. It's been shown twice. First in MKT when Johnny Cage comes back to help the good guys from THE HEAVENS. It was also metioned in Liu Kang's MKD bio. It says: Our souls were free to ascend into the heavens.
