I really could not see Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung or Raiden as being secret characters because they would impact the storyline too much.

The secret characters would have to be a silent character that would not have a major influence on the story itself. They would have to be there as either a support character for one of the already involved characters, or a new character altogether.

Those 4 powerful entities can't be secret, because they would have a chance of winning the kombat. Have you ever heard of a secret character being the winner of a game? It's unlikely...

ohh yeah to that dude that said there were only gonna be 24 characters it false due to konquest mode

Mavado- One of my favourite characters. Plus his storyline ties in with Kabal, Kenshi and the Lin Kuei.

Kung Lao- Can't believe he's not in as a regular. He seems to be one of the main heroes, and they could do something with him and Liu, if we really have to have Liu back.

Quan Chi- He survived MKDA, and still seems like a major villain. Again, I thought he'd be a regular.

Frost- I'm interested to know more about her. Needs her own special moves though.

Nitara- My favourite MKDA newcomer after Mavado. Raiden's ending suggests she still has a role to play in MK, with the Dragon King.

Johnny Cage- He badly needs a new plot, again he could do something with Liu. MK's not the same without him, he's one of a kind.

Shao Kahn- Weakened from MK3/MKT, but still big and strong. I saw someone suggest broken armour for him somewhere, that could be good, or "home made" armour out of bone or something.

Any other secret characters should be newcomers.

Definitely the DA characters that havn't been confirmed.. it only makes sense since their models and data are already "in" the game.

7. Schbaz (gotta put a new character in to bring into the next game. Gang lord who killed members of the Outworld Invasion Agency, and has a deadly link to Johnny Cage. He also owns some night clubs. This character is based off a comic book story I'm working on)
8. Project Kane (a secret cyborg actually developed my the OIA in competition with the Lin Kuei. He was ultimately abondoned by the US after a failed attempt to destroy the Sektor in China. Now he is a neutral wild card with a secret to destory any side he chooses to (he has control of Sektor's army!))

Project Kane's Moves
Duel fish hook and thread - kinda like Scorpion's spear, but comes from behind to attach.
Flash bang gernade - can temporary blind a fighter
Charge - Causes a electric charage. Kinda like Nightwolf's reflect glow
Needler - Halo inspired projectile. shoots tiny needles as projectiles.

Fighting styles
4 arm mode - umm his arms split to reveal 4 arms
invisible - umm think like Preditor
automatic - Kane goes into an unlimited combo, but the player can only move him, no blocks.

Fatals
Arm impale: Removes his machine arm and throws in on the opposite side of the player. Then he punches a button and the arms flies back up as it comes flying through the opponent as Kane holds out his arm waiting for reattachment.
Rip to shreds: Picks the opponent by the legs, smashes them on the ground a few times, then lifts them up into the air and rips them into two down the center.

Schbaz
I won't go into that many details as I want to keep his story kinda secret. In my book hes pretty cool as he is trying to learn to shape shift through science. So far he can change certain limbs to sharper points. So in game, his defense is almost perfect. So perfect its his offense. If you hit and he blocks, it'll be like punching into a bed of nails.

Fatals (right from the story):
duel arm impale into the gut and shred into half
rams both arms into the stomach, turns them into blades and moves both arms to the outside
kick in the crotch
Schbaz was written also as a cheap character with a dark sense of humor. This kick on a girl is just a hard kiss and shove to the ground. This is then followed with a step to the heart, breaking the rips.

7.Kung Lao, my 2nd favourite character. I can't believe he isn't already confirmed. Like someone else said, there is huge potential for his story with Liu returning.
8.Shao Kahn. He should return, pissed off & looking to regain his power.
