However, Tsung might not be dead, only weakened.

He might had lost his powers over souls but still lives.

It's great to see Liu back, but not as a ghost or zombie that was mentioned. Maybe Shang is beaten by the DK in the intro and Liu's soul is released.

Like MK:The Movie? Boon did say that we would get to see what happened to Shang Tsung and Quan Chi(I guess in the intro video), so, we shall see the sorcerer's fate just then.

Doesn't the fact that Midway has stated that not all the German OPM info is accurate mean the whole "Liu Kang's spirit" thing might not be true? It seems like one of the less likely things the magazine said, IMO. So I don't think it's safe to assume anything until more information, verified by Midway, is released.

Maybe Shang Tsung allowed Liu Kang's soul to escape. Maybe Tsung has managed to corrupt Kang and make him a slave?

My guess is someone evil revives Liu Kang's body, using it as an evil soldier, killing or wounding Kung Lao, which angres Liu Kang to become a good spectre (probably called a spirit) and fight for Earthrealm against his body.
