there is nothing to make us think that the DK is shinnok. all we have is reason to think its not him/kahn/chi/tsung/kang/raiden

Shinnok is dead and is not wanted to return to MK in the future.

I'm sure Shinnok died. He can't be the Dragon King. As Mistersatan said, the spell in MKDA allowed the bearer of the amulet to control the army.

I don't want Shinnok back, but a twist would be that Shinnok has absolute control over the amulet regardless of spells, so if he is alive, he could call it to him or tap into its power and use the army for himself.

I don't think so cause for those who see the ending of Quan chi in MK4 (unknown if it happened but shinnok is dead and no one knows who killed him). the shinok's amulet its just a "replica" of the original Here's th script ending:

Shinnok: As payment for your loyal services Quan Chi, I grant you the gift of
your existence.
Quan Chi: My existence?
Shinnok: Understand sorcerer, I consume all energies including the life force
of all that live, but I shall spare you.
Quan Chi: If it weren't for me, you would still be a tortured soul, rotting in
the pits of the Netherealm.
Shinnok: You dare question me?
Quan Chi: I do more than question you Shinnok, I challenge you!

Well considering Raiden originally hid the amulet in a temple in china guarded by 4 elder gods I don't see how Shinnok could have been the dragon king. Shinnok could not go get the amulet cause he was trapped in the nether realm and quan chi could not enter the temple because the Magic of the elder gods...So they sent Sub-Zero to get it. He thus made a duplicate and gave the fake to shinnok keeping the real one for himself.

Shinnok was trying to take over Earth, and Raiden managed to defeat him. He was banished to the netherrealm, got a fake amulet from Quan Chi in MK4, and in DA, the only reason that the soldiers followed "He who holds the amulet" is because Shang Tsung "programmed" them that way.

Sorry, I don't think that this scenario would work. For one, there is a whole backstory developed for Shinnok. Not only in Mortal Kombat 4/Gold, but with that Mortal Kombat Mythologies game. No where in that story line is there any evidence that he is the Dragon King.

Anything can happen I suppose, so we will just have to wait and see.

First off he is right shinnok is the dragon king, b/c one he looks like a dragon thing, and if u played mortal kombat myth sub zero. when u take the amulet away form him and he has no possion of it (in this case quan chi has it in mkda), he turns into this dragon thing that u cant kill. its makes sense, that could b his fatality, but if he is in i think he and shao khan should be playable characters not hidden or anything just regular.

Finally!!! Some one who wasn't high when they played Reptile's ending. He IS the Dragon King. Get it through your heads, the Dragon King was Ressurected inside of Reptile when he was in the Lava Chamber. Raiden even said"The Dragon King had returned". Thanks Jerrod.

I don't understand it...it seems that 95% of Mortal Kombat fans just can't get it through their skulls that the Dragon King is A NEW CHARACTER, who just happens to have become one with Reptile, according to his ending in DA.

The ending never said that reptile becomes the dragon king or becomes one with him, it just does reptile gets a new form blah blah blah, something completely different with this could happen.

And like in other mortal kombat games the MK: Team might not even use that ending for the storyline.

At least the people who believe Reiko was Kahn had a logical reason for believing it. Because of Reiko's ending. You expected alot of people to think that. But now Shinnok being the DK? Uh, no. And youre reason for him being the DK isn't that good either.

Off-topic, but I remember someone on the boards thought that Drahmin was Shao Kahn.
