Should characters start w/both initial and alt costumes, or should any extra costumes be unlocked?

Now just because I enjoy extra secrets and hidden bonuses, I think some things should be selectable at the game's initial start. I don't think I was the only one who was disappointed that none of the alternate costumes were available at the game's beginning.

Now from what I've heard, there are more than two costumes, so I was thinking that each character could start with two costumes, no exception. Any costume after that should be unlockable.

But replay value is everything to some people, so what do you guys think?

I think that at least an alternate color for the inital costumes should be available. As for the alternates, I wouldn't mind unlocking them.

I think that if there is going to be 3 outfits per character (has an actual number been confirmed yet??) Then one should be readily available...and you should have to unlock that third one. I think that would keep everyone reasonably happy. grin

PS If not 3, than I think the second costume should have to be unlocked and NOT readily avaialable.

I heard it was three.

BUT if it's not, I'd still like to have the alt outfits as hidden items.

I think from the start I'd prefer to have the alternate version of your character's colours - the same you get when your character has a 'mirror match' against themselves.

The alt costumes are a cool thing to unlock, and I think it'd be better if they stayed that way.

Well the characters should have two initial costumes to start out with. And a third that is secret. but the third costume must be the best out of all three to make it worth getting.

Great thread bro.

There will be 3 outfits for each character, but i do think that we should start off with 2 and the third should be the best making it hidden and unlockable.

Another idea i think would go great is that if each of the MK characters outfits could change colour, exactly like KI. It would be ALOT better and unique.

When i think about this, MK2 comes to mind. Lets use Baraka for an example. If i want his white vest to have blue stripes instead of red, i should be able to chose that. IMO each character should have atleast 6 different coloured versions for each of there costumes.

thats a pretty good idea. I think the feeling id get for unlocking a kickass costume for Ermac or NOob or someone else would be a lot better then if it was already there to begin with.

Great thread.

Since each character will have at least 3 costumes, I like the idea of having two available at the start and unlocking the rest.

I have another idea for the third costume, since the initial two will be unique costumes, maybe the third should be something funny. Like Sub-Zero having a snow man costume or whatever. I don't know if this was thought of already but, I've always liked that idea.

Yes I know MK is not DOA, BUT.... One of the things I really enjoyed about DOA2 was the amount of costumes you could unlock. It really added to the amount of replay value (that is if you wanted all of the costumes).

With that said, I think it's obvious MK:D will have much more replay value then MK:DA. But I wouldn't mind the ability to unlock additional costumes while playing. Even if you only start with one costume, it will give me more to work for.

I believe that, just like TomTaz and others on this thread, that if the character has three outfits two of them should be available and the third unlockable.

if it's only three costumes, then 2 should be available from the start and one unlockable, but hopefully all have a 2nd player costume that is also able to be chosen.

Great thread, bro!

Personally, either way would be fine with me. I enjoy unlocking the stuff and would like to earn the costumes. However, having a choice of two and then unlocking the third costume would be great too. I'd probably choose to have two from the start, just for variety.

I love all unlockables and like most here will play the game to death so IMO there should just be 1 costume at the start.

Complete story-mode once to get the 2nd for the character completed with.

Then have cool and bizarre ways for all for unlocking the 3rd.
