Xbox is a stronger system than PS2, so you'll get a more appealing game (graphics, frame rate, etc.) with faster load times.

PS2, on the other hand, has free online play. Xbox you have to pay via Xbox Live.

Honestly, I'm going to get it for Xbox, because I won't spend a whole lot of time online.

Xbox has better graphics ya but not by that much in this game Midways said it will be almost the same. Also you get free online play on PS2 and I never seen any problem load times for PS2 or do you mean online. If that case that'll matter on ur connection. I played Xbox and Ps2 Haven't found a game that loads slow.

PS2 games will load slower then Xbox its a proven fact. Yes you do have to pay for Xbox Live but that because it offers so much more the PS2 online its a much more organized. A lot more features and every game is voice ready unlike PS2. So yes us Xbox Live users have to fork out 12 bucks a month but i feel its worth it. Better Online system better graphics better load times hell better system. note: not trying to start a console war here just stating my opinion so all you PS2 fan boys don't be upset i also have PS2 online so i've done a lot of comparing between the two.

If theres a contest of Graphics and loading time and if Gamecube ain't a part of it, Xbox is the better choice

2 words;

Xbox Live

Did you see the e3 2k4 video where they were showing off mk chess for ps2? The loading times were so slow they were talking and showing pictures of mkd while waiting for it to load for a while like 45 seconds. Xbox takes like 8 seconds to load in deadly alliance plus the fact that they. Xbox live u get one year service free then u pay 50 bucks when its through and get a whole nother year. BTW even if gamecube was added xbox would look and play much better. Besides the PC, nothing can match xbox's online capabilities. End of story.

If you have no other choice, go with the ps2. If you have the choice of ps2 or xbox its a no brainer. (xbox)

Definitely Xbox, its going to have the High Definition support for one, and faster loading times as well. Also while is true you have to pay for Xbox Live, PS2 online will be charging for their online play by Quarter 4 of this year or early next year. I'd say go Xbox.

both are going to be similar in terms of graphics and personally I've never had a problem with the load times for Ps2. I always buy fighting games for my PS2 though and not my X-box, I think fighters in general control better on PS2. This is after having played Soul Caliber 2 and MK:DA on both platforms. In the end its up to your personal preference but I'm getting it for PS2.

In MKDA for PS2, everytime you bought a coffin, it saved , then opened it it. Too god damn slow. On the XBox version it goes smooth.

Well it's not like PS2 online is free. You have to buy the network adaptor. Around the same price as Xbox Live. You get much much more with Live. Not to mention the game will look, sound, and load much better on the Xbox version. If you're given the choice, anything but the Xbox version would be foolish. Plus you can use PS2 controllers on the Xbox via adaptors (joybox, etc). You can find them on eBay for 5 bucks and they work really good.

Ya thats true DMitch but thats the only time I had problems lol. Never had loading time problems ever and Midway says tha graphics are gonna be about the same. So it doesn't matter what sysetem u buy it for. Also post the article where it says PS2 Onlines gonna have a monthly fee and you can use headsets for PS2 games. Also ive seen games have better graphics or same graphics as Xbox. Also whoever said that the moves in chess took 45 secs was exagerating god if it's slower probably by 5secs so don't even say that your gonna start a war if one hasn't started. Also I heard someone say that if its graphics you want and GC not a option go Xbox Ps2 has better graphics the GC a lot better. Also its faster then GC and has a reliable Online conection the GC thats why you won't be seeing deception GC.
I'm getting it on X-Box for the graphics and X-Box LIVE grin

Midway said they'll look similar. Not "about the same". Boon has already confirmed, and so has midway, there will be graphical differences. The PS2 version of MKDA loaded a lot slower than the Xbox version. You never had to worry about the message of "saving to memory card" on the Xbox. I actyually timed opening the krypt in both versions with infinite coins. Xbox took about 2 hours and the PS2 version took 4.

In MKDA, they purposely tried to make the games the same. The Xbox version still came out the best. This time around with them taking advantage of the Xbox hardware AND HD support, game over. There's just nothing the PS2 version will do that the Xbox version won't do better. I'm not starting a flame war either. It's just the facts and everybody knows it. But this thread will be closed anyway. To the person that started the thread, if you have the choice, get the Xbox version. it will be the best version.

yeah, uh... wouldn't want to start a fanboy war lol...

I only own a PS2, and I would be lying if I said that X-Box versions of any game don't look better and feature faster load times (although in MKDA, i didn't notice any graphical inferiority on the PS2 in comparison to the Xbox... well, besides anti-aliasing jaggies that pretty much come with every PS2 game)... but if you have a HDD for the PS2, there shouldn't be any problems with memory cards and less lag online.

Also there is the issue of control. IMO, the PS2 has the best controller for any fighting game I've played. The Xbox controller doesn't have 2 triggers, so those buttons are reassigned to the black and white buttons, making things like switching styles, throws/taunts/impaling a chore, even on the Controller S. However, you can most likely find a third-party adapter for Xbox that allows play with diff console controls (ie, the Dualshock)... hell, even an arcade stick perhip (although i'm not sure what options are available for Xbox, or even if Deception would be compatible with one)

Bottom line: if you own both systems, which I'm assuming you do... than you suck and i envy you... jk, if you own both, get it for Xbox

It may or may not be closed. If everyone can manage to stay civilized, we won't have an issue.

Before I go on with my post, I have a question. Someone mentioned the HDD support for XBox. Has this even been confirmed? If so, wouldn't it make sense to include it in the PS2 version as well? While the HDD is a seperate edition to the system, its still available to consumers.. Just thought I'd point that out. :)

~~

Everyone, so far, has been civil and posed good points about the systems' differences. I have some points I would like to contribute:

There are pros and cons when it comes to every system, including XBox. While the online service is beyond that of PS2 online, it costs money to maintain. While it seems most of you don't mind the cost, not everyone wants to pay for it. They could take the difference and buy a new game.

This, like most other points about consoles, boils down to preference and opinion...

~~

"The Playstation 2/Gamecube can't handle the same amount of polish and detail that the Xbox does."

I've seen this in every comparison thread in one way or another. I would like everyone to consider this before adding this point in current or future threads:

It applies on a game-to-game basis.

Gran Turismo 4. Metal Gear Solid 3. These games, among others, look incredible on the PS2. Better than many XBox titles for that matter.

Resident Evil 4. This could easily be the best looking console game to date on any system. It's absolutely amazing. The Gamecube is also a great piece of hardware.

That's just it. It all depends on what the developer can do with the hardware in their hands. Every developer gets different results on each console.

Then again, do graphics and sound really matter? I thought people played games to have fun? That, my friends, is what gaming is all about. :)

~~

Enough about that, I'm afraid I may start a war. It's the last thing that I want. I just wanted to express these things while I had the chance.

On topic, it boils down to preference. It depends on your setup. It depends on the game. It depends on the fun factor, most of all. Do you have more fun when you play on the PS2 or XBox? No matter the case, get whichever you think would make you most happy. grin

HD. As in High Definition support. Yes, it's confirmed for the Xbox version.

I guess I still don't see how the price of Xbox Live is something bad compared to PS2 Online. You have to buy the network adaptor for PS2. So it evens out with Xbox Live. Plus Xbox Live trial cards are everywhere. Some people have been playing for free for the last year LOL.

Well, it isn't exactly evened out in the long run. $70 for the starter kit and then $50 annually. I understand that its a fantastic service but I'm still happy with my PS2.

I'm not a fanboy, by any means, it just has more to offer to me. It's up to the gamer to choose a system. If one has a powerful PC setup, I see no real need for an XBox. That may just be me, though.

I'll be getting it for Xbox.

Reasons-

1. Better graphics even if it is just a slight bit.

2. Faster load times, this is a big reason.

3. Live and the buddy list is another reason. $50 for Live is a deal and if you think about it, it's only around $7 a month if you split it up.

People who complain about the controller being big for XBOX....

Solution: S-Type Controller. Just about the same size as the PS 2 one.

I'm getting it for Xbox without a doubt:

1) Better Graphics

2) Faster Loading times

3) Xbox Live is set up in SUCH a user friendly way. Friends list is clean. Its easy to find games. $50 a Year is nothing.

If you have an Xbox...And a PS 2.

Why even ask the question?

Xbox it is.

uh oh... seems to be some confusion over HDD (hard-disk drive) and HD (high-definition) I had said on an earlier post that the HDD for PS2 would theoretically take care of an aforementioned memory card problem (DMitch wrote something along the lines of 'The PS2 version was too slow. Every time I bought a koffin it stopped and took a minute to save...') and take care of some issues with lag (i believe it upgrades the Net Adapter somewhat) making it slightly easier to compare against the superior (but pricier) Xbox LIVE... of course the HDD comes with FFXII, and costs $100, so unless you wanted the new final fantasy bad or were planning to upgrade to a HDD anywaze, the Xbox has a built-in harddrive making it a better choice.

now HD is an entirely different thing... if you have an HDTV (high definition television) there is the option on some games to use HD and allow for better video... for some odd reason, this is sometimes not included on PS2 but is on Xbox, even if the games are identical ports

*random note on harddrives: if you have a HDD, recently a plethora of pirate and/or emulation programs have popped up... these allow you to download games/saves from offline on your PS2, upload them using a Sharkhub or similar device, or by simply renting a game and burning it onto your hard drive... I'm not recommending this or even condoning it, I'm simply putting it out there... bloody pirates wink I have a dream... that one day... a little black box with a green X and a little black box with a blue PS logo, will be able to sit together... and make fun of that other console with a handle that doesn't get MK Deception... (just playin, I have love for the cube and its owners too... i used to be one, but then sold mine... not a big enough library of games and barely any 3rd party support)
